21. 1

If one be found slain in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee to possess it, lying in the field, and it be not known who hath slain him:

- Si, dans le pays dont l'Éternel, ton Dieu, te donne la possession, l'on trouve étendu au milieu d'un champ un homme tué, sans que l'on sache qui l'a frappé, (Ⅱ)

- ἐὰν δὲ εὑρεθη̨̃ τραυματίας ἐν τη̨̃ γη̨̃ ἡ̨̃ κύριος ὁ θεός σου δίδωσίν σοι κληρονομη̃σαι πεπτωκὼς ἐν τω̨̃ πεδίω̨ καὶ οὐκ οἴδασιν τὸν πατάξαντα (Ⅲ)

- Quando inventum fuerit in terra, quam Dominus Deus tuus daturus est tibi, hominis cadaver occisi, et ignorabitur cædis reus, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 1 ׃21 כי ימצא חלל באדמה אשר יהוה אלהיך נתן לך לרשתה נפל בשדה לא נודע מי הכהו ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 2

Then thy elders and thy judges shall come forth, and they shall measure unto the cities which are round about him that is slain:

- tes anciens et tes juges iront mesurer les distances à partir du cadavre jusqu'aux villes des environs. (Ⅱ)

- ἐξελεύσεται ἡ γερουσία σου καὶ οἱ κριταί σου καὶ ἐκμετρήσουσιν ἐπὶ τὰς πόλεις τὰς κύκλω̨ του̃ τραυματίου (Ⅲ)

- egredientur majores natu, et judices tui, et metientur a loco cadaveris singularum per circuitum spatia civitatum : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 2 ׃21 ויצאו זקניך ושפטיך ומדדו אל הערים אשר סביבת החלל ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 3

And it shall be, that the city which is next unto the slain man, even the elders of that city shall take an heifer, which hath not been wrought with, and which hath not drawn in the yoke;

- Quand on aura déterminé la ville la plus rapprochée du cadavre, les anciens de cette ville prendront une génisse qui n'ait point servi au travail et qui n'ait point tiré au joug. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἔσται ἡ πόλις ἡ ἐγγίζουσα τω̨̃ τραυματία̨ καὶ λήμψεται ἡ γερουσία τη̃ς πόλεως ἐκείνης δάμαλιν ἐκ βοω̃ν ἥτις οὐκ εἴργασται καὶ ἥτις οὐχ εἵλκυσεν ζυγόν (Ⅲ)

- et quam viciniorem ceteris esse perspexerint, seniores civitatis illius tollent vitulam de armento, quæ non traxit jugum, nec terram scidit vomere, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 3 ׃21 והיה העיר הקרבה אל החלל ולקחו זקני העיר ההוא עגלת בקר אשר לא עבד בה אשר לא משכה בעל ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 4

And the elders of that city shall bring down the heifer unto a rough valley, which is neither eared nor sown, and shall strike off the heifer's neck there in the valley:

- Ils feront descendre cette génisse vers un torrent qui jamais ne tarisse et où il n'y ait ni culture ni semence; et là, ils briseront la nuque à la génisse, dans le torrent. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ καταβιβάσουσιν ἡ γερουσία τη̃ς πόλεως ἐκείνης τὴν δάμαλιν εἰς φάραγγα τραχει̃αν ἥτις οὐκ εἴργασται οὐδὲ σπείρεται καὶ νευροκοπήσουσιν τὴν δάμαλιν ἐν τη̨̃ φάραγγι (Ⅲ)

- et ducent eam ad vallem asperam atque saxosam, quæ numquam arata est, nec sementem recepit : et cædent in ea cervices vitulæ : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 4 ׃21 והורדו זקני העיר ההוא את העגלה אל נחל איתן אשר לא יעבד בו ולא יזרע וערפו שם את העגלה בנחל ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 5

And the priests the sons of Levi shall come near; for them the LORD thy God hath chosen to minister unto him, and to bless in the name of the LORD; and by their word shall every controversy and every stroke be tried:

- Alors s'approcheront les sacrificateurs, fils de Lévi; car l'Éternel, ton Dieu, les a choisis pour qu'ils le servent et qu'ils bénissent au nom de l'Éternel, et ce sont eux qui doivent prononcer sur toute contestation et sur toute blessure. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ προσελεύσονται οἱ ἱερει̃ς οἱ Λευι̃ται ὅτι αὐτοὺς ἐπέλεξεν κύριος ὁ θεός σου παρεστηκέναι αὐτω̨̃ καὶ εὐλογει̃ν ἐπὶ τω̨̃ ὀνόματι αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐπὶ τω̨̃ στόματι αὐτω̃ν ἔσται πα̃σα ἀντιλογία καὶ πα̃σα ἁφή (Ⅲ)

- accedentque sacerdotes filii Levi, quos elegerit Dominus Deus tuus ut ministrent ei, et benedicant in nomine ejus, et ad verbum eorum omne negotium, et quidquid mundum, vel immundum est, judicetur. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 5 ׃21 ונגשו הכהנים בני לוי כי בם בחר יהוה אלהיך לשרתו ולברך בשם יהוה ועל פיהם יהיה כל ריב וכל נגע ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 6

And all the elders of that city, that are next unto the slain man, shall wash their hands over the heifer that is beheaded in the valley:

- Tous les anciens de cette ville la plus rapprochée du cadavre laveront leurs mains sur la génisse à laquelle on a brisé la nuque dans le torrent. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ πα̃σα ἡ γερουσία τη̃ς πόλεως ἐκείνης οἱ ἐγγίζοντες τω̨̃ τραυματία̨ νίψονται τὰς χει̃ρας ἐπὶ τὴν κεφαλὴν τη̃ς δαμάλεως τη̃ς νενευροκοπημένης ἐν τη̨̃ φάραγγι (Ⅲ)

- Et venient majores natu civitatis illius ad interfectum, lavabuntque manus suas super vitulam, quæ in valle percussa est, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 6 ׃21 וכל זקני העיר ההוא הקרבים אל החלל ירחצו את ידיהם על העגלה הערופה בנחל ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 7

And they shall answer and say, Our hands have not shed this blood, neither have our eyes seen it.

- Et prenant la parole, ils diront: Nos mains n'ont point répandu ce sang et nos yeux ne l'ont point vu répandre. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀποκριθέντες ἐρου̃σιν αἱ χει̃ρες ἡμω̃ν οὐκ ἐξέχεαν τὸ αἱ̃μα του̃το καὶ οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ ἡμω̃ν οὐχ ἑωράκασιν (Ⅲ)

- et dicent : Manus nostræ non effuderunt sanguinem hunc, nec oculi viderunt : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 7 ׃21 וענו ואמרו ידינו לא *שפכה **שפכו את הדם הזה ועינינו לא ראו ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 8

Be merciful, O LORD, unto thy people Israel, whom thou hast redeemed, and lay not innocent blood unto thy people of Israel's charge. And the blood shall be forgiven them.

- Pardonne, ô Éternel! à ton peuple d'Israël, que tu as racheté; n'impute pas le sang innocent à ton peuple d'Israël, et ce sang ne lui sera point imputé. (Ⅱ)

- ἵλεως γενου̃ τω̨̃ λαω̨̃ σου Ισραηλ οὓς ἐλυτρώσω κύριε ἐκ γη̃ς Αἰγύπτου ἵνα μὴ γένηται αἱ̃μα ἀναίτιον ἐν τω̨̃ λαω̨̃ σου Ισραηλ καὶ ἐξιλασθήσεται αὐτοι̃ς τὸ αἱ̃μα (Ⅲ)

- propitius esto populo tuo Israël, quem redemisti, Domine, et ne reputes sanguinem innocentem in medio populi tui Israël. Et auferetur ab eis reatus sanguinis : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 8 ׃21 כפר לעמך‪[C]‬‪[c]‬ ישראל אשר פדית יהוה ואל תתן דם נקי בקרב עמך ישראל ונכפר להם הדם ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 9

So shalt thou put away the guilt of innocent blood from among you, when thou shalt do that which is right in the sight of the LORD.

- Ainsi, tu dois faire disparaître du milieu de toi le sang innocent, en faisant ce qui est droit aux yeux de l'Éternel. (Ⅱ)

- σὺ δὲ ἐξαρει̃ς τὸ αἱ̃μα τὸ ἀναίτιον ἐξ ὑμω̃ν αὐτω̃ν ἐὰν ποιήση̨ς τὸ καλὸν καὶ τὸ ἀρεστὸν ἔναντι κυρίου του̃ θεου̃ σου (Ⅲ)

- tu autem alienus eris ab innocentis cruore, qui fusus est, cum feceris quod præcepit Dominus.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 9 ׃21 ואתה תבער הדם הנקי מקרבך כי תעשה הישר בעיני יהוה ס‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 10

When thou goest forth to war against thine enemies, and the LORD thy God hath delivered them into thine hands, and thou hast taken them captive,

- Lorsque tu iras à la guerre contre tes ennemis, si l'Éternel les livre entre tes mains, et que tu leur fasses des prisonniers, (Ⅱ)

- ἐὰν δὲ ἐξελθὼν εἰς πόλεμον ἐπὶ τοὺς ἐχθρούς σου καὶ παραδω̨̃ σοι κύριος ὁ θεός σου εἰς τὰς χει̃ράς σου καὶ προνομεύσεις τὴν προνομὴν αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Si egressus fueris ad pugnam contra inimicos tuos, et tradiderit eos Dominus Deus tuus in manu tua, captivosque duxeris, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 10 ׃21 כי תצא למלחמה על איביך ונתנו יהוה אלהיך בידך ושבית שביו ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 11

And seest among the captives a beautiful woman, and hast a desire unto her, that thou wouldest have her to thy wife;

- peut-être verras-tu parmi les captives une femme belle de figure, et auras-tu le désir de la prendre pour femme. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἴδη̨ς ἐν τη̨̃ προνομη̨̃ γυναι̃κα καλὴν τω̨̃ εἴδει καὶ ἐνθυμηθη̨̃ς αὐτη̃ς καὶ λάβη̨ς αὐτὴν σαυτω̨̃ γυναι̃κα (Ⅲ)

- et videris in numero captivorum mulierem pulchram, et adamaveris eam, voluerisque habere uxorem, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 11 ׃21 וראית בשביה אשת יפת תאר וחשקת בה ולקחת לך לאשה ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 12

Then thou shalt bring her home to thine house, and she shall shave her head, and pare her nails;

- Alors tu l'amèneras dans l'intérieur de ta maison. Elle se rasera la tête et se fera les ongles, (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰσάξεις αὐτὴν ἔνδον εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν σου καὶ ξυρήσεις τὴν κεφαλὴν αὐτη̃ς καὶ περιονυχιει̃ς αὐτὴν (Ⅲ)

- introduces eam in domum tuam : quæ radet cæsariem, et circumcidet ungues, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 12 ׃21 והבאתה אל תוך ביתך וגלחה את ראשה ועשתה את צפרניה ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 13

And she shall put the raiment of her captivity from off her, and shall remain in thine house, and bewail her father and her mother a full month: and after that thou shalt go in unto her, and be her husband, and she shall be thy wife.

- elle quittera les vêtements qu'elle portait quand elle a été prise, elle demeurera dans ta maison, et elle pleurera son père et sa mère pendant un mois. Après cela, tu iras vers elle, tu l'auras en ta possession, et elle sera ta femme. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ περιελει̃ς τὰ ἱμάτια τη̃ς αἰχμαλωσίας αὐτη̃ς ἀπ' αὐτη̃ς καὶ καθίεται ἐν τη̨̃ οἰκία̨ σου καὶ κλαύσεται τὸν πατέρα καὶ τὴν μητέρα μηνὸς ἡμέρας καὶ μετὰ ταυ̃τα εἰσελεύση̨ πρὸς αὐτὴν καὶ συνοικισθήση̨ αὐτη̨̃ καὶ ἔσται σου γυνή (Ⅲ)

- et deponet vestem, in qua capta est : sedensque in domo tua, flebit patrem et matrem suam uno mense : et postea intrabis ad eam, dormiesque cum illa, et erit uxor tua. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 13 ׃21 והסירה את שמלת שביה מעליה וישבה בביתך ובכתה את אביה ואת אמה ירח ימים ואחר כן תבוא אליה ובעלתה והיתה לך לאשה ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 14

And it shall be, if thou have no delight in her, then thou shalt let her go whither she will; but thou shalt not sell her at all for money, thou shalt not make merchandise of her, because thou hast humbled her.

- Si elle cesse de te plaire, tu la laisseras aller où elle voudra, tu ne pourras pas la vendre pour de l'argent ni la traiter comme esclave, parce que tu l'auras humiliée. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἔσται ἐὰν μὴ θέλη̨ς αὐτήν ἐξαποστελει̃ς αὐτὴν ἐλευθέραν καὶ πράσει οὐ πραθήσεται ἀργυρίου οὐκ ἀθετήσεις αὐτήν διότι ἐταπείνωσας αὐτήν (Ⅲ)

- Si autem postea non sederit animo tuo, dimittes eam liberam, nec vendere poteris pecunia, nec opprimere per potentiam : quia humiliasti eam.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 14 ׃21 והיה אם לא חפצת בה ושלחתה לנפשה ומכר לא תמכרנה בכסף לא תתעמר בה תחת אשר עניתה ס‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 15

If a man have two wives, one beloved, and another hated, and they have born him children, both the beloved and the hated; and if the firstborn son be hers that was hated:

- Si un homme, qui a deux femmes, aime l'une et n'aime pas l'autre, et s'il en a des fils dont le premier-né soit de la femme qu'il n'aime pas, (Ⅱ)

- ἐὰν δὲ γένωνται ἀνθρώπω̨ δύο γυναι̃κες μία αὐτω̃ν ἠγαπημένη καὶ μία αὐτω̃ν μισουμένη καὶ τέκωσιν αὐτω̨̃ ἡ ἠγαπημένη καὶ ἡ μισουμένη καὶ γένηται υἱὸς πρωτότοκος τη̃ς μισουμένης (Ⅲ)

- Si habuerit homo uxores duas, unam dilectam, et alteram odiosam, genuerintque ex eo liberos, et fuerit filius odiosæ primogenitus, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 15 ׃21 כי תהיין לאיש שתי נשים האחת אהובה והאחת שנואה וילדו לו בנים האהובה והשנואה והיה הבן הבכור לשניאה ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 16

Then it shall be, when he maketh his sons to inherit that which he hath, that he may not make the son of the beloved firstborn before the son of the hated, which is indeed the firstborn:

- il ne pourra point, quand il partagera son bien entre ses fils, reconnaître comme premier-né le fils de celle qu'il aime, à la place du fils de celle qu'il n'aime pas, et qui est le premier-né. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἔσται ἡ̨̃ ἂν ἡμέρα̨ κατακληροδοτη̨̃ τοι̃ς υἱοι̃ς αὐτου̃ τὰ ὑπάρχοντα αὐτου̃ οὐ δυνήσεται πρωτοτοκευ̃σαι τω̨̃ υἱω̨̃ τη̃ς ἠγαπημένης ὑπεριδὼν τὸν υἱὸν τη̃ς μισουμένης τὸν πρωτότοκον (Ⅲ)

- volueritque substantiam inter filios suos dividere, non poterit filium dilectæ facere primogenitum, et præferre filio odiosæ : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 16 ׃21 והיה ביום הנחילו את בניו את אשר יהיה לו לא יוכל לבכר את בן האהובה על פני בן השנואה הבכר ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 17

But he shall acknowledge the son of the hated for the firstborn, by giving him a double portion of all that he hath: for he is the beginning of his strength; the right of the firstborn is his.

- Mais il reconnaîtra pour premier-né le fils de celle qu'il n'aime pas, et lui donnera sur son bien une portion double; car ce fils est les prémices de sa vigueur, le droit d'aînesse lui appartient. (Ⅱ)

- ἀλλὰ τὸν πρωτότοκον υἱὸν τη̃ς μισουμένης ἐπιγνώσεται δου̃ναι αὐτω̨̃ διπλα̃ ἀπὸ πάντων ὡ̃ν ἂν εὑρεθη̨̃ αὐτω̨̃ ὅτι οὑ̃τός ἐστιν ἀρχὴ τέκνων αὐτου̃ καὶ τούτω̨ καθήκει τὰ πρωτοτόκια (Ⅲ)

- sed filium odiosæ agnoscet primogenitum, dabitque ei de his quæ habuerit cuncta duplicia : iste est enim principium liberorum ejus, et huic debentur primogenita.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 17 ׃21 כי את הבכר בן השנואה יכיר לתת לו פי שנים בכל אשר ימצא לו כי הוא ראשית אנו לו משפט הבכרה ס‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 18

If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, which will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and that, when they have chastened him, will not hearken unto them:

- Si un homme a un fils indocile et rebelle, n'écoutant ni la voix de son père, ni la voix de sa mère, et ne leur obéissant pas même après qu'ils l'ont châtié, (Ⅱ)

- ἐὰν δέ τινι ἠ̨̃ υἱὸς ἀπειθὴς καὶ ἐρεθιστὴς οὐχ ὑπακούων φωνὴν πατρὸς καὶ φωνὴν μητρὸς καὶ παιδεύσωσιν αὐτὸν καὶ μὴ εἰσακούη̨ αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Si genuerit homo filium contumacem et protervum, qui non audiat patris aut matris imperium, et coërcitus obedire contempserit : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 18 ׃21 כי יהיה לאיש בן סורר ומורה איננו שמע בקול אביו ובקול אמו ויסרו‪[Q]‬‪[n]‬‪[v]‬ אתו ולא ישמע אליהם ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 19

Then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place;

- le père et la mère le prendront, et le mèneront vers les anciens de sa ville et à la porte du lieu qu'il habite. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ συλλαβόντες αὐτὸν ὁ πατὴρ αὐτου̃ καὶ ἡ μήτηρ αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐξάξουσιν αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τὴν γερουσίαν τη̃ς πόλεως αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐπὶ τὴν πύλην του̃ τόπου αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- apprehendent eum, et ducent ad seniores civitatis illius, et ad portam judicii, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 19 ׃21 ותפשו בו אביו ואמו והוציאו אתו אל זקני עירו ואל שער מקמו ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 20

And they shall say unto the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard.

- Ils diront aux anciens de sa ville: Voici notre fils qui est indocile et rebelle, qui n'écoute pas notre voix, et qui se livre à des excès et à l'ivrognerie. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐρου̃σιν τοι̃ς ἀνδράσιν τη̃ς πόλεως αὐτω̃ν ὁ υἱὸς ἡμω̃ν οὑ̃τος ἀπειθει̃ καὶ ἐρεθίζει οὐχ ὑπακούει τη̃ς φωνη̃ς ἡμω̃ν συμβολοκοπω̃ν οἰνοφλυγει̃ (Ⅲ)

- dicentque ad eos : Filius noster iste protervus et contumax est : monita nostra audire contemnit, comessationibus vacat, et luxuriæ atque conviviis : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 20 ׃21 ואמרו אל זקני עירו בננו זה סורר ומרה איננו שמע בקלנו זולל וסבא ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 21

And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die: so shalt thou put evil away from among you; and all Israel shall hear, and fear.

- Et tous les hommes de sa ville le lapideront, et il mourra. Tu ôteras ainsi le mal du milieu de toi, afin que tout Israël entende et craigne. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ λιθοβολήσουσιν αὐτὸν οἱ ἄνδρες τη̃ς πόλεως αὐτου̃ ἐν λίθοις καὶ ἀποθανει̃ται καὶ ἐξαρει̃ς τὸν πονηρὸν ἐξ ὑμω̃ν αὐτω̃ν καὶ οἱ ἐπίλοιποι ἀκούσαντες φοβηθήσονται (Ⅲ)

- lapidibus eum obruet populus civitatis, et morietur, ut auferatis malum de medio vestri, et universus Israël audiens pertimescat.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 21 ׃21 ורגמהו כל אנשי עירו באבנים ומת ובערת הרע מקרבך וכל ישראל ישמעו ויראו ס‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 22

And if a man have committed a sin worthy of death, and he be to be put to death, and thou hang him on a tree:

- Si l'on fait mourir un homme qui a commis un crime digne de mort, et que tu l'aies pendu à un bois, (Ⅱ)

- ἐὰν δὲ γένηται ἔν τινι ἁμαρτία κρίμα θανάτου καὶ ἀποθάνη̨ καὶ κρεμάσητε αὐτὸν ἐπὶ ξύλου (Ⅲ)

- Quando peccaverit homo quod morte plectendum est, et adjudicatus morti appensus fuerit in patibulo : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 22 ׃21 וכי יהיה באיש חטא משפט מות והומת ותלית אתו על עץ ‬ (Ⅴ)

21. 23

His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day; (for he that is hanged is accursed of God;) that thy land be not defiled, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.

- son cadavre ne passera point la nuit sur le bois; mais tu l'enterreras le jour même, car celui qui est pendu est un objet de malédiction auprès de Dieu, et tu ne souilleras point le pays que l'Éternel, ton Dieu, te donne pour héritage. (Ⅱ)

- οὐκ ἐπικοιμηθήσεται τὸ σω̃μα αὐτου̃ ἐπὶ του̃ ξύλου ἀλλὰ ταφη̨̃ θάψετε αὐτὸν ἐν τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ ἐκείνη̨ ὅτι κεκατηραμένος ὑπὸ θεου̃ πα̃ς κρεμάμενος ἐπὶ ξύλου καὶ οὐ μιανει̃τε τὴν γη̃ν ἣν κύριος ὁ θεός σου δίδωσίν σοι ἐν κλήρω̨ (Ⅲ)

- non permanebit cadaver ejus in ligno, sed in eadem die sepelietur : quia maledictus a Deo est qui pendet in ligno : et nequaquam contaminabis terram tuam, quam Dominus Deus tuus dederit tibi in possessionem. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 23 ׃21 לא תלין נבלתו על העץ כי קבור תקברנו ביום ההוא כי קללת אלהים תלוי ולא תטמא את אדמתך אשר יהוה אלהיך נתן לך נחלה ס‬ (Ⅴ)
