25. 1

If there be a controversy between men, and they come unto judgment, that the judges may judge them; then they shall justify the righteous, and condemn the wicked.

- Lorsque des hommes, ayant entre eux une querelle, se présenteront en justice pour être jugés, on absoudra l'innocent, et l'on condamnera le coupable. (Ⅱ)

- ἐὰν δὲ γένηται ἀντιλογία ἀνὰ μέσον ἀνθρώπων καὶ προσέλθωσιν εἰς κρίσιν καὶ κρίνωσιν καὶ δικαιώσωσιν τὸν δίκαιον καὶ καταγνω̃σιν του̃ ἀσεβου̃ς (Ⅲ)

- Si fuerit causa inter aliquos, et interpellaverint judices : quem justum esse perspexerint, illi justitiæ palmam dabunt : quem impium, condemnabunt impietatis. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 1 ׃25 כי יהיה ריב בין אנשים ונגשו אל המשפט ושפטום והצדיקו את הצדיק והרשיעו את הרשע ‬ (Ⅴ)

25. 2

And it shall be, if the wicked man be worthy to be beaten, that the judge shall cause him to lie down, and to be beaten before his face, according to his fault, by a certain number.

- Si le coupable mérite d'être battu, le juge le fera étendre par terre et frapper en sa présence d'un nombre de coups proportionné à la gravité de sa faute. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἔσται ἐὰν ἄξιος ἠ̨̃ πληγω̃ν ὁ ἀσεβω̃ν καὶ καθιει̃ς αὐτὸν ἔναντι τω̃ν κριτω̃ν καὶ μαστιγώσουσιν αὐτὸν ἐναντίον αὐτω̃ν κατὰ τὴν ἀσέβειαν αὐτου̃ ἀριθμω̨̃ (Ⅲ)

- Sin autem eum, qui peccavit, dignum viderint plagis : prosternent, et coram se facient verberari. Pro mensura peccati erit et plagarum modus : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 2 ׃25 והיה אם בן הכות הרשע והפילו השפט והכהו לפניו כדי רשעתו במספר ‬ (Ⅴ)

25. 3

Forty stripes he may give him, and not exceed: lest, if he should exceed, and beat him above these with many stripes, then thy brother should seem vile unto thee.

- Il ne lui fera pas donner plus de quarante coups, de peur que, si l'on continuait à le frapper en allant beaucoup au delà, ton frère ne fût avili à tes yeux. (Ⅱ)

- τεσσαράκοντα μαστιγώσουσιν αὐτόν οὐ προσθήσουσιν ἐὰν δὲ προσθω̃σιν μαστιγω̃σαι αὐτὸν ὑπὲρ ταύτας τὰς πληγὰς πλείους ἀσχημονήσει ὁ ἀδελφός σου ἐναντίον σου (Ⅲ)

- ita dumtaxat, ut quadragenarium numerum non excedant : ne fœde laceratus ante oculos tuos abeat frater tuus. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 3 ׃25 ארבעים יכנו לא יסיף פן יסיף להכתו על אלה מכה רבה ונקלה אחיך לעיניך ס‬ (Ⅴ)

25. 4

Thou shalt not muzzle the ox when he treadeth out the corn.

- Tu n'emmuselleras point le boeuf, quand il foulera le grain. (Ⅱ)

- οὐ φιμώσεις βου̃ν ἀλοω̃ντα (Ⅲ)

- Non ligabis os bovis terentis in area fruges tuas.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 4 ׃25 לא תחסם שור בדישו ס‬ (Ⅴ)

25. 5

If brethren dwell together, and one of them die, and have no child, the wife of the dead shall not marry without unto a stranger: her husband's brother shall go in unto her, and take her to him to wife, and perform the duty of an husband's brother unto her.

- Lorsque des frères demeureront ensemble, et que l'un d'eux mourra sans laisser de fils, la femme du défunt ne se mariera point au dehors avec un étranger, mais son beau-frère ira vers elle, la prendra pour femme, et l'épousera comme beau-frère. (Ⅱ)

- ἐὰν δὲ κατοικω̃σιν ἀδελφοὶ ἐπὶ τὸ αὐτὸ καὶ ἀποθάνη̨ εἱ̃ς ἐξ αὐτω̃ν σπέρμα δὲ μὴ ἠ̨̃ αὐτω̨̃ οὐκ ἔσται ἡ γυνὴ του̃ τεθνηκότος ἔξω ἀνδρὶ μὴ ἐγγίζοντι ὁ ἀδελφὸς του̃ ἀνδρὸς αὐτη̃ς εἰσελεύσεται πρὸς αὐτὴν καὶ λήμψεται αὐτὴν ἑαυτω̨̃ γυναι̃κα καὶ συνοικήσει αὐτη̨̃ (Ⅲ)

- Quando habitaverint fratres simul, et unus ex eis absque liberis mortuus fuerit, uxor defuncti non nubet alteri : sed accipiet eam frater ejus, et suscitabit semen fratris sui : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 5 ׃25 כי ישבו אחים יחדו ומת אחד מהם ובן אין לו לא תהיה אשת המת החוצה לאיש זר יבמה יבא עליה ולקחה לו לאשה ויבמה ‬ (Ⅴ)

25. 6

And it shall be, that the firstborn which she beareth shall succeed in the name of his brother which is dead, that his name be not put out of Israel.

- Le premier-né qu'elle enfantera succédera au frère mort et portera son nom, afin que ce nom ne soit pas effacé d'Israël. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἔσται τὸ παιδίον ὃ ἐὰν τέκη̨ κατασταθήσεται ἐκ του̃ ὀνόματος του̃ τετελευτηκότος καὶ οὐκ ἐξαλειφθήσεται τὸ ὄνομα αὐτου̃ ἐξ Ισραηλ (Ⅲ)

- et primogenitum ex ea filium nomine illius appellabit, ut non deleatur nomen ejus ex Israël. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 6 ׃25 והיה הבכור אשר תלד יקום על שם אחיו המת ולא ימחה שמו מישראל ‬ (Ⅴ)

25. 7

And if the man like not to take his brother's wife, then let his brother's wife go up to the gate unto the elders, and say, My husband's brother refuseth to raise up unto his brother a name in Israel, he will not perform the duty of my husband's brother.

- Si cet homme ne veut pas prendre sa belle-soeur, elle montera à la porte vers les anciens, et dira: Mon beau-frère refuse de relever en Israël le nom de son frère, il ne veut pas m'épouser par droit de beau-frère. (Ⅱ)

- ἐὰν δὲ μὴ βούληται ὁ ἄνθρωπος λαβει̃ν τὴν γυναι̃κα του̃ ἀδελφου̃ αὐτου̃ καὶ ἀναβήσεται ἡ γυνὴ ἐπὶ τὴν πύλην ἐπὶ τὴν γερουσίαν καὶ ἐρει̃ οὐ θέλει ὁ ἀδελφὸς του̃ ἀνδρός μου ἀναστη̃σαι τὸ ὄνομα του̃ ἀδελφου̃ αὐτου̃ ἐν Ισραηλ οὐκ ἠθέλησεν ὁ ἀδελφὸς του̃ ἀνδρός μου (Ⅲ)

- Sin autem noluerit accipere uxorem fratris sui, quæ ei lege debetur, perget mulier ad portam civitatis, et interpellabit majores natu, dicetque : Non vult frater viri mei suscitare nomen fratris sui in Israël, nec me in conjugem sumere. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 7 ׃25 ואם לא יחפץ האיש לקחת את יבמתו ועלתה יבמתו השערה אל הזקנים ואמרה מאין יבמי להקים לאחיו שם בישראל לא אבה יבמי ‬ (Ⅴ)

25. 8

Then the elders of his city shall call him, and speak unto him: and if he stand to it, and say, I like not to take her;

- Les anciens de la ville l'appelleront, et lui parleront. S'il persiste, et dit: Je ne veux pas la prendre, (Ⅱ)

- καὶ καλέσουσιν αὐτὸν ἡ γερουσία τη̃ς πόλεως αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐρου̃σιν αὐτω̨̃ καὶ στὰς εἴπη̨ οὐ βούλομαι λαβει̃ν αὐτήν (Ⅲ)

- Statimque accersiri eum facient, et interrogabunt. Si responderit : Nolo eam uxorem accipere : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 8 ׃25 וקראו לו זקני עירו ודברו אליו ועמד ואמר לא חפצתי לקחתה ‬ (Ⅴ)

25. 9

Then shall his brother's wife come unto him in the presence of the elders, and loose his shoe from off his foot, and spit in his face, and shall answer and say, So shall it be done unto that man that will not build up his brother's house.

- alors sa belle-soeur s'approchera de lui en présence des anciens, lui ôtera son soulier du pied, et lui crachera au visage. Et prenant la parole, elle dira: Ainsi sera fait à l'homme qui ne relève pas la maison de son frère. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ προσελθου̃σα ἡ γυνὴ του̃ ἀδελφου̃ αὐτου̃ ἔναντι τη̃ς γερουσίας καὶ ὑπολύσει τὸ ὑπόδημα αὐτου̃ τὸ ἓν ἀπὸ του̃ ποδὸς αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐμπτύσεται εἰς τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτου̃ καὶ ἀποκριθει̃σα ἐρει̃ οὕτως ποιήσουσιν τω̨̃ ἀνθρώπω̨ ὃς οὐκ οἰκοδομήσει τὸν οἰ̃κον του̃ ἀδελφου̃ αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- accedet mulier ad eum coram senioribus, et tollet calceamentum de pede ejus, spuetque in faciem illius, et dicet : Sic fiet homini, qui non ædificat domum fratris sui. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 9 ׃25 ונגשה יבמתו אליו לעיני הזקנים וחלצה נעלו מעל רגלו וירקה בפניו וענתה ואמרה ככה יעשה לאיש אשר לא יבנה את בית אחיו‪[Q]‬‪[n]‬‪[p]‬ ‬ (Ⅴ)

25. 10

And his name shall be called in Israel, The house of him that hath his shoe loosed.

- Et sa maison sera appelée en Israël la maison du déchaussé. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ κληθήσεται τὸ ὄνομα αὐτου̃ ἐν Ισραηλ οἰ̃κος του̃ ὑπολυθέντος τὸ ὑπόδημα (Ⅲ)

- Et vocabitur nomen illius in Israël, Domus discalceati.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 10 ׃25 ונקרא שמו בישראל בית חלוץ הנעל ס‬ (Ⅴ)

25. 11

When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one draweth near for to deliver her husband out of the hand of him that smiteth him, and putteth forth her hand, and taketh him by the secrets:

- Lorsque des hommes se querelleront ensemble, l'un avec l'autre, si la femme de l'un s'approche pour délivrer son mari de la main de celui qui le frappe, si elle avance la main et saisit ce dernier par les parties honteuses, (Ⅱ)

- ἐὰν δὲ μάχωνται ἄνθρωποι ἐπὶ τὸ αὐτό ἄνθρωπος μετὰ του̃ ἀδελφου̃ αὐτου̃ καὶ προσέλθη̨ γυνὴ ἑνὸς αὐτω̃ν ἐξελέσθαι τὸν ἄνδρα αὐτη̃ς ἐκ χειρὸς του̃ τύπτοντος αὐτὸν καὶ ἐκτείνασα τὴν χει̃ρα ἐπιλάβηται τω̃ν διδύμων αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Si habuerint inter se jurgium viri duo, et unus contra alterum rixari cœperit, volensque uxor alterius eruere virum suum de manu fortioris, miseritque manum, et apprehenderit verenda ejus : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 11 ׃25 כי ינצו אנשים יחדו איש ואחיו וקרבה אשת האחד להציל את אישה מיד מכהו ושלחה ידה והחזיקה במבשיו ‬ (Ⅴ)

25. 12

Then thou shalt cut off her hand, thine eye shall not pity her.

- tu lui couperas la main, tu ne jetteras sur elle aucun regard de pitié. (Ⅱ)

- ἀποκόψεις τὴν χει̃ρα αὐτη̃ς οὐ φείσεται ὁ ὀφθαλμός σου ἐπ' αὐτη̨̃ (Ⅲ)

- abscides manum illius, nec flecteris super eam ulla misericordia.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 12 ׃25 וקצתה את כפה לא תחוס עינך ס‬ (Ⅴ)

25. 13

Thou shalt not have in thy bag divers weights, a great and a small.

- Tu n'auras point dans ton sac deux sortes de poids, un gros et un petit. (Ⅱ)

- οὐκ ἔσται ἐν τω̨̃ μαρσίππω̨ σου στάθμιον καὶ στάθμιον μέγα ἢ μικρόν (Ⅲ)

- Non habebis in sacculo diversa pondera, majus et minus : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 13 ׃25 לא יהיה לך בכיסך אבן ואבן גדולה וקטנה ס‬ (Ⅴ)

25. 14

Thou shalt not have in thine house divers measures, a great and a small.

- Tu n'auras point dans ta maison deux sortes d'épha, un grand et un petit. (Ⅱ)

- οὐκ ἔσται ἐν τη̨̃ οἰκία̨ σου μέτρον καὶ μέτρον μέγα ἢ μικρόν (Ⅲ)

- nec erit in domo tua modius major, et minor. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 14 ׃25 לא יהיה לך בביתך איפה ואיפה גדולה וקטנה ‬ (Ⅴ)

25. 15

But thou shalt have a perfect and just weight, a perfect and just measure shalt thou have: that thy days may be lengthened in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

- Tu auras un poids exact et juste, tu auras un épha exact et juste, afin que tes jours se prolongent dans le pays que l'Éternel, ton Dieu, te donne. (Ⅱ)

- στάθμιον ἀληθινὸν καὶ δίκαιον ἔσται σοι καὶ μέτρον ἀληθινὸν καὶ δίκαιον ἔσται σοι ἵνα πολυήμερος γένη̨ ἐπὶ τη̃ς γη̃ς ἡ̃ς κύριος ὁ θεός σου δίδωσίν σοι ἐν κλήρω̨ (Ⅲ)

- Pondus habebis justum et verum, et modius æqualis et verus erit tibi : ut multo vivas tempore super terram, quam Dominus Deus tuus dederit tibi. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 15 ׃25 אבן שלמה וצדק יהיה לך איפה שלמה וצדק יהיה לך למען יאריכו ימיך על האדמה אשר יהוה אלהיך נתן לך ‬ (Ⅴ)

25. 16

For all that do such things, and all that do unrighteously, are an abomination unto the LORD thy God.

- Car quiconque fait ces choses, quiconque commet une iniquité, est en abomination à l'Éternel, ton Dieu. (Ⅱ)

- ὅτι βδέλυγμα κυρίω̨ τω̨̃ θεω̨̃ σου πα̃ς ποιω̃ν ταυ̃τα πα̃ς ποιω̃ν ἄδικον (Ⅲ)

- Abominatur enim Dominus tuus eum qui facit hæc, et aversatur omnem injustitiam.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 16 ׃25 כי תועבת יהוה אלהיך כל עשה אלה כל עשה עול פ‬ (Ⅴ)

25. 17

Remember what Amalek did unto thee by the way, when ye were come forth out of Egypt;

- Souviens-toi de ce que te fit Amalek pendant la route, lors de votre sortie d'Égypte, (Ⅱ)

- μνήσθητι ὅσα ἐποίησέν σοι Αμαληκ ἐν τη̨̃ ὁδω̨̃ ἐκπορευομένου σου ἐξ Αἰγύπτου (Ⅲ)

- Memento quæ fecerit tibi Amalec in via quando egrediebaris ex Ægypto : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 17 ׃25 זכור את אשר עשה לך עמלק בדרך בצאתכם ממצרים ‬ (Ⅴ)

25. 18

How he met thee by the way, and smote the hindmost of thee, even all that were feeble behind thee, when thou wast faint and weary; and he feared not God.

- comment il te rencontra dans le chemin, et, sans aucune crainte de Dieu, tomba sur toi par derrière, sur tous ceux qui se traînaient les derniers, pendant que tu étais las et épuisé toi-même. (Ⅱ)

- πω̃ς ἀντέστη σοι ἐν τη̨̃ ὁδω̨̃ καὶ ἔκοψέν σου τὴν οὐραγίαν τοὺς κοπιω̃ντας ὀπίσω σου σὺ δὲ ἐπείνας καὶ ἐκοπίας καὶ οὐκ ἐφοβήθη τὸν θεόν (Ⅲ)

- quomodo occurrerit tibi, et extremos agminis tui, qui lassi residebant, ceciderit, quando tu eras fame et labore confectus : et non timuerit Deum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 18 ׃25 אשר קרך בדרך ויזנב בך כל הנחשלים אחריך‪[U]‬ ואתה עיף ויגע ולא ירא אלהים ‬ (Ⅴ)

25. 19

Therefore it shall be, when the LORD thy God hath given thee rest from all thine enemies round about, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it, that thou shalt blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; thou shalt not forget it.

- Lorsque l'Éternel, ton Dieu, après t'avoir délivré de tous les ennemis qui t'entourent, t'accordera du repos dans le pays que l'Éternel, ton Dieu, te donne en héritage et en propriété, tu effaceras la mémoire d'Amalek de dessous les cieux: ne l'oublie point. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἔσται ἡνίκα ἐὰν καταπαύση̨ σε κύριος ὁ θεός σου ἀπὸ πάντων τω̃ν ἐχθρω̃ν σου τω̃ν κύκλω̨ σου ἐν τη̨̃ γη̨̃ ἡ̨̃ κύριος ὁ θεός σου δίδωσίν σοι ἐν κλήρω̨ κατακληρονομη̃σαι ἐξαλείψεις τὸ ὄνομα Αμαληκ ἐκ τη̃ς ὑπὸ τὸν οὐρανὸν καὶ οὐ μὴ ἐπιλάθη̨ (Ⅲ)

- Cum ergo Dominus Deus tuus dederit tibi requiem, et subjecerit cunctas per circuitum nationes in terra, quam tibi pollicitus est : delebis nomen ejus sub cælo. Cave ne obliviscaris. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 19 ׃25 והיה בהניח יהוה אלהיך לך מכל איביך מסביב בארץ אשר יהוה אלהיך נתן לך נחלה לרשתה תמחה את זכר עמלק מתחת השמים לא תשכח פ‬ (Ⅴ)
