14. 1

Now it came to pass upon a day, that Jonathan the son of Saul said unto the young man that bare his armor, Come, and let us go over to the Philistines' garrison, that is on the other side. But he told not his father.

- Un jour, Jonathan, fils de Saül, dit au jeune homme qui portait ses armes: Viens, et poussons jusqu'au poste des Philistins qui est là de l'autre côté. Et il n'en dit rien à son père. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ γίνεται ἡμέρα καὶ εἰ̃πεν Ιωναθαν υἱὸς Σαουλ τω̨̃ παιδαρίω̨ τω̨̃ αἴροντι τὰ σκεύη αὐτου̃ δευ̃ρο καὶ διαβω̃μεν εἰς μεσσαβ τω̃ν ἀλλοφύλων τὴν ἐν τω̨̃ πέραν ἐκείνω̨ καὶ τω̨̃ πατρὶ αὐτου̃ οὐκ ἀπήγγειλεν (Ⅲ)

- Et accidit quadam die ut diceret Jonathas filius Saul ad adolescentem armigerum suum : Veni, et transeamus ad stationem Philisthinorum, quæ est trans locum illum. Patri autem suo hoc ipsum non indicavit. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 1 ׃14 ויהי היום ויאמר יונתן בן שאול אל הנער נשא כליו לכה ונעברה אל מצב פלשתים אשר מעבר הלז ולאביו לא הגיד ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 2

And Saul tarried in the uttermost part of Gibeah under a pomegranate tree which is in Migron: and the people that were with him were about six hundred men;

- Saül se tenait à l'extrémité de Guibea, sous le grenadier de Migron, et le peuple qui était avec lui formait environ six cents hommes. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ Σαουλ ἐκάθητο ἐπ' ἄκρου του̃ βουνου̃ ὑπὸ τὴν ῥόαν τὴν ἐν Μαγδων καὶ ἠ̃σαν μετ' αὐτου̃ ὡς ἑξακόσιοι ἄνδρες (Ⅲ)

- Porro Saul morabatur in extrema parte Gabaa sub malogranato, quæ erat in Magron : et erat populus cum eo quasi sexcentorum virorum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 2 ׃14 ושאול יושב בקצה הגבעה תחת הרמון אשר במגרון והעם אשר עמו כשש מאות איש ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 3

And Ahiah, the son of Ahitub, Ichabod's brother, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eli, the LORD's priest in Shiloh, wearing an ephod. And the people knew not that Jonathan was gone.

- Achija, fils d'Achithub, frère d'I Kabod, fils de Phinées, fils d'Éli, sacrificateur de l'Éternel à Silo, portait l'éphod. Le peuple ne savait pas que Jonathan s'en fût allé. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ Αχια υἱὸς Αχιτωβ ἀδελφου̃ Ιωχαβηδ υἱου̃ Φινεες υἱου̃ Ηλι ἱερεὺς του̃ θεου̃ ἐν Σηλωμ αἴρων εφουδ καὶ ὁ λαὸς οὐκ ἤ̨δει ὅτι πεπόρευται Ιωναθαν (Ⅲ)

- Et Achias filius Achitob fratris Ichabod filii Phinees, qui ortus fuerat ex Heli sacerdote Domini in Silo, portabat ephod. Sed et populus ignorabat quo isset Jonathas. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 3 ׃14 ואחיה בן אחטוב אחי איכבוד בן פינחס בן עלי כהן יהוה בשלו נשא אפוד והעם לא ידע כי הלך יונתן ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 4

And between the passages, by which Jonathan sought to go over unto the Philistines' garrison, there was a sharp rock on the one side, and a sharp rock on the other side: and the name of the one was Bozez, and the name of the other Seneh.

- Entre les passages par lesquels Jonathan cherchait à arriver au poste des Philistins, il y avait une dent de rocher d'un côté et une dent de rocher de l'autre côté, l'une portant le nom de Botsets et l'autre celui de Séné. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον τη̃ς διαβάσεως οὑ̃ ἐζήτει Ιωναθαν διαβη̃ναι εἰς τὴν ὑπόστασιν τω̃ν ἀλλοφύλων καὶ ἀκρωτήριον πέτρας ἔνθεν καὶ ἀκρωτήριον πέτρας ἔνθεν ὄνομα τω̨̃ ἑνὶ Βαζες καὶ ὄνομα τω̨̃ ἄλλω̨ Σεννα (Ⅲ)

- Erant autem inter ascensus per quos nitebatur Jonathas transire ad stationem Philisthinorum, eminentes petræ ex utraque parte, et quasi in modum dentium scopuli hinc et inde prærupti : nomen uni Boses, et nomen alteri Sene : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 4 ׃14 ובין המעברות אשר בקש יונתן לעבר על מצב פלשתים שן הסלע מהעבר מזה ושן הסלע מהעבר מזה ושם האחד בוצץ ושם האחד סנה ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 5

The forefront of the one was situate northward over against Michmash, and the other southward over against Gibeah.

- L'une de ces dents est au nord vis-à-vis de Micmasch, et l'autre au midi vis-à-vis de Guéba. (Ⅱ)

- ἡ ὁδὸς ἡ μία ἀπὸ βορρα̃ ἐρχομένω̨ Μαχμας καὶ ἡ ὁδὸς ἡ ἄλλη ἀπὸ νότου ἐρχομένω̨ Γαβεε (Ⅲ)

- unus scopulus prominens ad aquilonem ex adverso Machmas, et alter ad meridiem contra Gabaa. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 5 ׃14 השן האחד מצוק מצפון מול מכמש והאחד מנגב מול גבע ס‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 6

And Jonathan said to the young man that bare his armor, Come, and let us go over unto the garrison of these uncircumcised: it may be that the LORD will work for us: for there is no restraint to the LORD to save by many or by few.

- Jonathan dit au jeune homme qui portait ses armes: Viens, et poussons jusqu'au poste de ces incirconcis. Peut-être l'Éternel agira-t-il pour nous, car rien n'empêche l'Éternel de sauver au moyen d'un petit nombre comme d'un grand nombre. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Ιωναθαν πρὸς τὸ παιδάριον τὸ αἰ̃ρον τὰ σκεύη αὐτου̃ δευ̃ρο διαβω̃μεν εἰς μεσσαβ τω̃ν ἀπεριτμήτων τούτων εἴ τι ποιήσαι ἡμι̃ν κύριος ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν τω̨̃ κυρίω̨ συνεχόμενον σώ̨ζειν ἐν πολλοι̃ς ἢ ἐν ὀλίγοις (Ⅲ)

- Dixit autem Jonathas ad adolescentem armigerum suum : Veni, transeamus ad stationem incircumcisorum horum, si forte faciat Dominus pro nobis : quia non est Domino difficile salvare, vel in multis, vel in paucis. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 6 ׃14 ויאמר יהונתן אל הנער נשא כליו לכה ונעברה אל מצב הערלים האלה אולי יעשה יהוה לנו כי אין ליהוה מעצור להושיע ברב או במעט ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 7

And his armourbearer said unto him, Do all that is in thine heart: turn thee; behold, I am with thee according to thy heart.

- Celui qui portait ses armes lui répondit: Fais tout ce que tu as dans le coeur, n'écoute que ton sentiment, me voici avec toi prêt à te suivre. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν αὐτω̨̃ ὁ αἴρων τὰ σκεύη αὐτου̃ ποίει πα̃ν ὃ ἐὰν ἡ καρδία σου ἐκκλίνη̨ ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ μετὰ σου̃ ὡς ἡ καρδία σου̃ καρδία μου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Dixitque ei armiger suus : Fac omnia quæ placent animo tuo : perge quo cupis, et ero tecum ubicumque volueris. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 7 ׃14 ויאמר לו נשא כליו עשה כל אשר בלבבך נטה לך הנני עמך כלבבך ס‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 8

Then said Jonathan, Behold, we will pass over unto these men, and we will discover ourselves unto them.

- Hé bien! dit Jonathan, allons à ces gens et montrons-nous à eux. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Ιωναθαν ἰδοὺ ἡμει̃ς διαβαίνομεν πρὸς τοὺς ἄνδρας καὶ κατακυλισθησόμεθα πρὸς αὐτούς (Ⅲ)

- Et ait Jonathas : Ecce nos transimus ad viros istos. Cumque apparuerimus eis, (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 8 ׃14 ויאמר יהונתן הנה אנחנו עברים אל האנשים ונגלינו אליהם ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 9

If they say thus unto us, Tarry until we come to you; then we will stand still in our place, and will not go up unto them.

- S'ils nous disent: Arrêtez, jusqu'à ce que nous venions à vous! nous resterons en place, et nous ne monterons point vers eux. (Ⅱ)

- ἐὰν τάδε εἴπωσιν πρὸς ἡμα̃ς ἀπόστητε ἐκει̃ ἕως ἂν ἀπαγγείλωμεν ὑμι̃ν καὶ στησόμεθα ἐφ' ἑαυτοι̃ς καὶ οὐ μὴ ἀναβω̃μεν ἐπ' αὐτούς (Ⅲ)

- si taliter locuti fuerint ad nos : Manete donec veniamus ad vos : stemus in loco nostro, nec ascendamus ad eos. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 9 ׃14 אם כה יאמרו אלינו דמו עד הגיענו אליכם ועמדנו תחתינו ולא נעלה אליהם ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 10

But if they say thus, Come up unto us; then we will go up: for the LORD hath delivered them into our hand: and this shall be a sign unto us.

- Mais s'ils disent: Montez vers nous! nous monterons, car l'Éternel les livre entre nos mains. C'est là ce qui nous servira de signe. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐὰν τάδε εἴπωσιν πρὸς ἡμα̃ς ἀνάβητε πρὸς ἡμα̃ς καὶ ἀναβησόμεθα ὅτι παραδέδωκεν αὐτοὺς κύριος εἰς τὰς χει̃ρας ἡμω̃ν του̃το ἡμι̃ν τὸ σημει̃ον (Ⅲ)

- Si autem dixerint : Ascendite ad nos : ascendamus, quia tradidit eos Dominus in manibus nostris : hoc erit nobis signum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 10 ׃14 ואם כה יאמרו עלו עלינו ועלינו כי נתנם יהוה בידנו וזה לנו האות ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 11

And both of them discovered themselves unto the garrison of the Philistines: and the Philistines said, Behold, the Hebrews come forth out of the holes where they had hid themselves.

- Ils se montrèrent tous deux au poste des Philistins, et les Philistins dirent: Voici les Hébreux qui sortent des trous où ils se sont cachés. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰση̃λθον ἀμφότεροι εἰς μεσσαβ τω̃ν ἀλλοφύλων καὶ λέγουσιν οἱ ἀλλόφυλοι ἰδοὺ οἱ Εβραι̃οι ἐκπορεύονται ἐκ τω̃ν τρωγλω̃ν αὐτω̃ν οὑ̃ ἐκρύβησαν ἐκει̃ (Ⅲ)

- Apparuit igitur uterque stationi Philisthinorum : dixeruntque Philisthiim : En Hebræi egrediuntur de cavernis in quibus absconditi fuerant. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 11 ׃14 ויגלו שניהם אל מצב פלשתים ויאמרו פלשתים הנה עברים יצאים מן החרים אשר התחבאו שם ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 12

And the men of the garrison answered Jonathan and his armourbearer, and said, Come up to us, and we will show you a thing. And Jonathan said unto his armourbearer, Come up after me: for the LORD hath delivered them into the hand of Israel.

- Et les hommes du poste s'adressèrent ainsi à Jonathan et à celui qui portait ses armes: Montez vers nous, et nous vous ferons savoir quelque chose. Jonathan dit à celui qui portait ses armes: Monte après moi, car l'Éternel les livre entre les mains d'Israël. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀπεκρίθησαν οἱ ἄνδρες μεσσαβ πρὸς Ιωναθαν καὶ πρὸς τὸν αἴροντα τὰ σκεύη αὐτου̃ καὶ λέγουσιν ἀνάβητε πρὸς ἡμα̃ς καὶ γνωριου̃μεν ὑμι̃ν ῥη̃μα καὶ εἰ̃πεν Ιωναθαν πρὸς τὸν αἴροντα τὰ σκεύη αὐτου̃ ἀνάβηθι ὀπίσω μου ὅτι παρέδωκεν αὐτοὺς κύριος εἰς χει̃ρας Ισραηλ (Ⅲ)

- Et locuti sunt viri de statione ad Jonathan et ad armigerum ejus, dixeruntque : Ascendite ad nos, et ostendemus vobis rem. Et ait Jonathas ad armigerum suum : Ascendamus : sequere me : tradidit enim Dominus eos in manus Israël. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 12 ׃14 ויענו אנשי המצבה את יונתן ואת נשא כליו ויאמרו עלו אלינו ונודיעה אתכם דבר פויאמר יונתן אל נשא כליו עלה אחרי כי נתנם יהוה ביד ישראל ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 13

And Jonathan climbed up upon his hands and upon his feet, and his armourbearer after him: and they fell before Jonathan; and his armourbearer slew after him.

- Et Jonathan monta en s'aidant des mains et des pieds, et celui qui portait ses armes le suivit. Les Philistins tombèrent devant Jonathan, et celui qui portait ses armes donnait la mort derrière lui. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀνέβη Ιωναθαν ἐπὶ τὰς χει̃ρας αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐπὶ τοὺς πόδας αὐτου̃ καὶ ὁ αἴρων τὰ σκεύη αὐτου̃ μετ' αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐπέβλεψαν κατὰ πρόσωπον Ιωναθαν καὶ ἐπάταξεν αὐτούς καὶ ὁ αἴρων τὰ σκεύη αὐτου̃ ἐπεδίδου ὀπίσω αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Ascendit autem Jonathas manibus et pedibus reptans, et armiger ejus post eum. Itaque alii cadebant ante Jonathan, alios armiger ejus interficiebat sequens eum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 13 ׃14 ויעל יונתן על ידיו ועל רגליו ונשא כליו אחריו ויפלו לפני יונתן ונשא כליו ממותת אחריו ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 14

And that first slaughter, which Jonathan and his armourbearer made, was about twenty men, within as it were an half acre of land, which a yoke of oxen might plow.

- Dans cette première défaite, Jonathan et celui qui portait ses armes tuèrent une vingtaine d'hommes, sur l'espace d'environ la moitié d'un arpent de terre. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐγενήθη ἡ πληγὴ ἡ πρώτη ἣν ἐπάταξεν Ιωναθαν καὶ ὁ αἴρων τὰ σκεύη αὐτου̃ ὡς εἴκοσι ἄνδρες ἐν βολίσι καὶ ἐν πετροβόλοις καὶ ἐν κόχλαξιν του̃ πεδίου (Ⅲ)

- Et facta est plaga prima qua percussit Jonathas et armiger ejus, quasi viginti virorum in media parte jugeri quam par boum in die arare consuevit. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 14 ׃14 ותהי המכה הראשנה אשר הכה יונתן ונשא כליו כעשרים איש כבחצי מענה צמד שדה ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 15

And there was trembling in the host, in the field, and among all the people: the garrison, and the spoilers, they also trembled, and the earth quaked: so it was a very great trembling.

- L'effroi se répandit au camp, dans la contrée et parmi tout le peuple; le poste et ceux qui ravageaient furent également saisis de peur; le pays fut dans l'épouvante. C'était comme une terreur de Dieu. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐγενήθη ἔκστασις ἐν τη̨̃ παρεμβολη̨̃ καὶ ἐν ἀγρω̨̃ καὶ πα̃ς ὁ λαὸς οἱ ἐν μεσσαβ καὶ οἱ διαφθείροντες ἐξέστησαν καὶ αὐτοὶ οὐκ ἤθελον ποιει̃ν καὶ ἐθάμβησεν ἡ γη̃ καὶ ἐγενήθη ἔκστασις παρὰ κυρίου (Ⅲ)

- Et factum est miraculum in castris per agros : sed et omnis populus stationis eorum qui ierant ad prædandum, obstupuit, et conturbata est terra : et accidit quasi miraculum a Deo. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 15 ׃14 ותהי חרדה במחנה בשדה ובכל העם המצב והמשחית חרדו גם המה ותרגז הארץ ותהי לחרדת אלהים ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 16

And the watchmen of Saul in Gibeah of Benjamin looked; and, behold, the multitude melted away, and they went on beating down one another.

- Les sentinelles de Saül, qui étaient à Guibea de Benjamin, virent que la multitude se dispersait et allait de côté et d'autre. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃δον οἱ σκοποὶ του̃ Σαουλ ἐν Γαβεε Βενιαμιν καὶ ἰδοὺ ἡ παρεμβολὴ τεταραγμένη ἔνθεν καὶ ἔνθεν (Ⅲ)

- Et respexerunt speculatores Saul qui erant in Gabaa Benjamin, et ecce multitudo prostrata, et huc illucque diffugiens. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 16 ׃14 ויראו הצפים לשאול בגבעת בנימן והנה ההמון נמוג וילך והלם פ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 17

Then said Saul unto the people that were with him, Number now, and see who is gone from us. And when they had numbered, behold, Jonathan and his armourbearer were not there.

- Alors Saül dit au peuple qui était avec lui: Comptez, je vous prie, et voyez qui s'en est allé du milieu de nous. Ils comptèrent, et voici, il manquait Jonathan et celui qui portait ses armes. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Σαουλ τω̨̃ λαω̨̃ τω̨̃ μετ' αὐτου̃ ἐπισκέψασθε δὴ καὶ ἴδετε τίς πεπόρευται ἐξ ὑμω̃ν καὶ ἐπεσκέψαντο καὶ ἰδοὺ οὐχ εὑρίσκετο Ιωναθαν καὶ ὁ αἴρων τὰ σκεύη αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Et ait Saul populo qui erat cum eo : Requirite, et videte quis abierit ex nobis. Cumque requisissent, repertum est non adesse Jonathan et armigerum ejus. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 17 ׃14 ויאמר שאול לעם אשר אתו פקדו נא וראו מי הלך מעמנו ויפקדו והנה אין יונתן ונשא כליו ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 18

And Saul said unto Ahiah, Bring hither the ark of God. For the ark of God was at that time with the children of Israel.

- Et Saül dit à Achija: Fais approcher l'arche de Dieu! -Car en ce temps l'arche de Dieu était avec les enfants d'Israël. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Σαουλ τω̨̃ Αχια προσάγαγε τὸ εφουδ ὅτι αὐτὸς ἠ̃ρεν τὸ εφουδ ἐν τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ ἐκείνη̨ ἐνώπιον Ισραηλ (Ⅲ)

- Et ait Saul ad Achiam : Applica arcam Dei. (Erat enim ibi arca Dei in die illa cum filiis Israël.) (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 18 ׃14 ויאמר שאול לאחיה הגישה ארון האלהים כי היה ארון האלהים ביום ההוא ובני ישראל ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 19

And it came to pass, while Saul talked unto the priest, that the noise that was in the host of the Philistines went on and increased: and Saul said unto the priest, Withdraw thine hand.

- Pendant que Saül parlait au sacrificateur, le tumulte dans le camp des Philistins allait toujours croissant; et Saül dit au sacrificateur: Retire ta main! (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐγενήθη ὡς ἐλάλει Σαουλ πρὸς τὸν ἱερέα καὶ ὁ ἠ̃χος ἐν τη̨̃ παρεμβολη̨̃ τω̃ν ἀλλοφύλων ἐπορεύετο πορευόμενος καὶ ἐπλήθυνεν καὶ εἰ̃πεν Σαουλ πρὸς τὸν ἱερέα συνάγαγε τὰς χει̃ράς σου (Ⅲ)

- Cumque loqueretur Saul ad sacerdotem, tumultus magnus exortus est in castris Philisthinorum : crescebatque paulatim, et clarius resonabat. Et ait Saul ad sacerdotem : Contrahe manum tuam.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 19 ׃14 ויהי עד דבר שאול אל הכהן וההמון אשר במחנה פלשתים וילך הלוך ורב פויאמר שאול אל הכהן אסף ידך ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 20

And Saul and all the people that were with him assembled themselves, and they came to the battle: and, behold, every man's sword was against his fellow, and there was a very great discomfiture.

- Puis Saül et tout le peuple qui était avec lui se rassemblèrent, et ils s'avancèrent jusqu'au lieu du combat; et voici, les Philistins tournèrent l'épée les uns contre les autres, et la confusion était extrême. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀνεβόησεν Σαουλ καὶ πα̃ς ὁ λαὸς ὁ μετ' αὐτου̃ καὶ ἔρχονται ἕως του̃ πολέμου καὶ ἰδοὺ ἐγένετο ῥομφαία ἀνδρὸς ἐπὶ τὸν πλησίον αὐτου̃ σύγχυσις μεγάλη σφόδρα (Ⅲ)

- Conclamavit ergo Saul, et omnis populus qui erat cum eo, et venerunt usque ad locum certaminis : et ecce versus fuerat gladius uniuscujusque ad proximum suum, et cædes magna nimis. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 20 ׃14 ויזעק שאול וכל העם אשר אתו ויבאו עד המלחמה והנה היתה חרב איש ברעהו מהומה גדולה מאד ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 21

Moreover the Hebrews that were with the Philistines before that time, which went up with them into the camp from the country round about, even they also turned to be with the Israelites that were with Saul and Jonathan.

- Il y avait parmi les Philistins, comme auparavant, des Hébreux qui étaient montés avec eux dans le camp, où ils se trouvaient disséminés, et ils se joignirent à ceux d'Israël qui étaient avec Saül et Jonathan. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ οἱ δου̃λοι οἱ ὄντες ἐχθὲς καὶ τρίτην ἡμέραν μετὰ τω̃ν ἀλλοφύλων οἱ ἀναβάντες εἰς τὴν παρεμβολὴν ἐπεστράφησαν καὶ αὐτοὶ εἰ̃ναι μετὰ Ισραηλ τω̃ν μετὰ Σαουλ καὶ Ιωναθαν (Ⅲ)

- Sed et Hebræi qui fuerant cum Philisthiim heri et nudiustertius, ascenderantque cum eis in castris, reversi sunt ut essent cum Israël qui erant cum Saul et Jonatha. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 21 ׃14 והעברים היו לפלשתים כאתמול שלשום אשר עלו עמם במחנה סביב וגם המה להיות עם ישראל אשר עם שאול ויונתן ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 22

Likewise all the men of Israel which had hid themselves in mount Ephraim, when they heard that the Philistines fled, even they also followed hard after them in the battle.

- Tous les hommes d'Israël qui s'étaient cachés dans la montagne d'Éphraïm, apprenant que les Philistins fuyaient, se mirent aussi à les poursuivre dans la bataille. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ πα̃ς Ισραηλ οἱ κρυπτόμενοι ἐν τω̨̃ ὄρει Εφραιμ καὶ ἤκουσαν ὅτι πεφεύγασιν οἱ ἀλλόφυλοι καὶ συνάπτουσιν καὶ αὐτοὶ ὀπίσω αὐτω̃ν εἰς πόλεμον (Ⅲ)

- Omnes quoque Israëlitæ qui se absconderant in monte Ephraim, audientes quod fugissent Philisthæi, sociaverunt se cum suis in prælio. Et erant cum Saul quasi decem millia virorum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 22 ׃14 וכל איש ישראל המתחבאים בהר אפרים שמעו כי נסו פלשתים וידבקו גם המה אחריהם במלחמה ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 23

So the LORD saved Israel that day: and the battle passed over unto Bethaven.

- L'Éternel délivra Israël ce jour-là, et le combat se prolongea jusqu'au delà de Beth Aven. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἔσωσεν κύριος ἐν τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ ἐκείνη̨ τὸν Ισραηλ καὶ ὁ πόλεμος διη̃λθεν τὴν Βαιθων καὶ πα̃ς ὁ λαὸς ἠ̃ν μετὰ Σαουλ ὡς δέκα χιλιάδες ἀνδρω̃ν καὶ ἠ̃ν ὁ πόλεμος διεσπαρμένος εἰς ὅλην τὴν πόλιν ἐν τω̨̃ ὄρει Εφραιμ (Ⅲ)

- Et salvavit Dominus in die illa Israël : pugna autem pervenit usque ad Bethaven. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 23 ׃14 ויושע יהוה ביום ההוא את ישראל והמלחמה עברה את בית און ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 24

And the men of Israel were distressed that day: for Saul had adjured the people, saying, Cursed be the man that eateth any food until evening, that I may be avenged on mine enemies. So none of the people tasted any food.

- La journée fut fatigante pour les hommes d'Israël. Saül avait fait jurer le peuple, en disant: Maudit soit l'homme qui prendra de la nourriture avant le soir, avant que je me sois vengé de mes ennemis! Et personne n'avait pris de nourriture. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ Σαουλ ἠγνόησεν ἄγνοιαν μεγάλην ἐν τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ ἐκείνη̨ καὶ ἀρα̃ται τω̨̃ λαω̨̃ λέγων ἐπικατάρατος ὁ ἄνθρωπος ὃς φάγεται ἄρτον ἕως ἑσπέρας καὶ ἐκδικήσω τὸν ἐχθρόν μου καὶ οὐκ ἐγεύσατο πα̃ς ὁ λαὸς ἄρτου (Ⅲ)

- Et viri Israël sociati sunt sibi in die illa : adjuravit autem Saul populum, dicens : Maledictus vir qui comederit panem usque ad vesperam, donec ulciscar de inimicis meis. Et non manducavit universus populus panem : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 24 ׃14 ואיש ישראל נגש ביום ההוא ויאל שאול את העם לאמר ארור האיש אשר יאכל לחם עד הערב ונקמתי מאיבי ולא טעם כל העם לחם ס‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 25

And all they of the land came to a wood; and there was honey upon the ground.

- Tout le peuple était arrivé dans une forêt, où il y avait du miel à la surface du sol. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ πα̃σα ἡ γη̃ ἠρίστα καὶ ιααρ δρυμὸς ἠ̃ν μελισσω̃νος κατὰ πρόσωπον του̃ ἀγρου̃ (Ⅲ)

- omneque terræ vulgus venit in saltum, in quo erat mel super faciem agri. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 25 ׃14 וכל הארץ באו ביער ויהי דבש על פני השדה ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 26

And when the people were come into the wood, behold, the honey dropped; but no man put his hand to his mouth: for the people feared the oath.

- Lorsque le peuple entra dans la forêt, il vit du miel qui coulait; mais nul ne porta la main à la bouche, car le peuple respectait le serment. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰση̃λθεν ὁ λαὸς εἰς τὸν μελισσω̃να καὶ ἰδοὺ ἐπορεύετο λαλω̃ν καὶ ἰδοὺ οὐκ ἠ̃ν ἐπιστρέφων τὴν χει̃ρα αὐτου̃ εἰς τὸ στόμα αὐτου̃ ὅτι ἐφοβήθη ὁ λαὸς τὸν ὅρκον κυρίου (Ⅲ)

- Ingressus est itaque populus saltum, et apparuit fluens mel, nullusque applicuit manum ad os suum : timebat enim populus juramentum.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 26 ׃14 ויבא העם אל היער והנה הלך דבש ואין משיג ידו אל פיו כי ירא העם את השבעה ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 27

But Jonathan heard not when his father charged the people with the oath: wherefore he put forth the end of the rod that was in his hand, and dipped it in an honeycomb, and put his hand to his mouth; and his eyes were enlightened.

- Jonathan ignorait le serment que son père avait fait faire au peuple; il avança le bout du bâton qu'il avait à la main, le plongea dans un rayon de miel, et ramena la main à la bouche; et ses yeux furent éclaircis. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ Ιωναθαν οὐκ ἀκηκόει ἐν τω̨̃ ὁρκίζειν τὸν πατέρα αὐτου̃ τὸν λαόν καὶ ἐξέτεινεν τὸ ἄκρον του̃ σκήπτρου αὐτου̃ του̃ ἐν τη̨̃ χειρὶ αὐτου̃ καὶ ἔβαψεν αὐτὸ εἰς τὸ κηρίον του̃ μέλιτος καὶ ἐπέστρεψεν τὴν χει̃ρα αὐτου̃ εἰς τὸ στόμα αὐτου̃ καὶ ἀνέβλεψαν οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Porro Jonathas non audierat cum adjuraret pater ejus populum : extenditque summitatem virgæ quam habebat in manu, et intinxit in favum mellis : et convertit manum suam ad os suum, et illuminati sunt oculi ejus. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 27 ׃14 ויונתן לא שמע בהשביע אביו את העם וישלח את קצה המטה אשר בידו ויטבל אותה ביערת הדבש וישב ידו אל פיו *ותראנה **ותארנה עיניו ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 28

Then answered one of the people, and said, Thy father straitly charged the people with an oath, saying, Cursed be the man that eateth any food this day. And the people were faint.

- Alors quelqu'un du peuple, lui adressant la parole, dit: Ton père a fait jurer le peuple, en disant: Maudit soit l'homme qui prendra de la nourriture aujourd'hui! Or le peuple était épuisé. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀπεκρίθη εἱ̃ς ἐκ του̃ λαου̃ καὶ εἰ̃πεν ὁρκίσας ὥρκισεν ὁ πατήρ σου τὸν λαὸν λέγων ἐπικατάρατος ὁ ἄνθρωπος ὃς φάγεται ἄρτον σήμερον καὶ ἐξελύθη ὁ λαός (Ⅲ)

- Respondensque unus de populo, ait : Jurejurando constrinxit pater tuus populum, dicens : Maledictus vir qui comederit panem hodie. (Defecerat autem populus.) (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 28 ׃14 ויען איש מהעם ויאמר השבע השביע אביך את העם לאמר ארור האיש אשר יאכל לחם היום ויעף העם ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 29

Then said Jonathan, My father hath troubled the land: see, I pray you, how mine eyes have been enlightened, because I tasted a little of this honey.

- Et Jonathan dit: Mon père trouble le peuple; voyez donc comme mes yeux se sont éclaircis, parce que j'ai goûté un peu de ce miel. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἔγνω Ιωναθαν καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἀπήλλαχεν ὁ πατήρ μου τὴν γη̃ν ἰδὲ δὴ ὅτι εἰ̃δον οἱ ὀφθαλμοί μου ὅτι ἐγευσάμην βραχὺ του̃ μέλιτος τούτου (Ⅲ)

- Dixitque Jonathas : Turbavit pater meus terram : vidistis ipsi quia illuminati sunt oculi mei, eo quod gustaverim paululum de melle isto : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 29 ׃14 ויאמר יונתן עכר אבי את הארץ ראו נא כי ארו עיני כי טעמתי מעט דבש הזה ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 30

How much more, if haply the people had eaten freely to day of the spoil of their enemies which they found? for had there not been now a much greater slaughter among the Philistines?

- Certes, si le peuple avait aujourd'hui mangé du butin qu'il a trouvé chez ses ennemis, la défaite des Philistins n'aurait-elle pas été plus grande? (Ⅱ)

- ἀλλ' ὅτι εἰ ἔφαγεν ἔσθων ὁ λαὸς σήμερον τω̃ν σκύλων τω̃ν ἐχθρω̃ν αὐτω̃ν ὡ̃ν εὑ̃ρεν ὅτι νυ̃ν ἂν μείζων ἠ̃ν ἡ πληγὴ ἐν τοι̃ς ἀλλοφύλοις (Ⅲ)

- quanto magis si comedisset populus de præda inimicorum suorum, quam reperit ? nonne major plaga facta fuisset in Philisthiim ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 30 ׃14 אף כי לוא אכל אכל היום העם משלל איביו אשר מצא כי עתה לא רבתה מכה בפלשתים ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 31

And they smote the Philistines that day from Michmash to Aijalon: and the people were very faint.

- Ils battirent ce jour-là les Philistins depuis Micmasch jusqu'à Ajalon. Le peuple était très fatigué, (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐπάταξεν ἐν τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ ἐκείνη̨ ἐκ τω̃ν ἀλλοφύλων ἐν Μαχεμας καὶ ἐκοπίασεν ὁ λαὸς σφόδρα (Ⅲ)

- Percusserunt ergo in die illa Philisthæos a Machmis usque in Ajalon.\ Defatigatus est autem populus nimis : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 31 ׃14 ויכו ביום ההוא בפלשתים ממכמש אילנה ויעף העם מאד ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 32

And the people flew upon the spoil, and took sheep, and oxen, and calves, and slew them on the ground: and the people did eat them with the blood.

- et il se jeta sur le butin. Il prit des brebis, des boeufs et des veaux, il les égorgea sur la terre, et il en mangea avec le sang. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐκλίθη ὁ λαὸς εἰς τὰ σκυ̃λα καὶ ἔλαβεν ὁ λαὸς ποίμνια καὶ βουκόλια καὶ τέκνα βοω̃ν καὶ ἔσφαξεν ἐπὶ τὴν γη̃ν καὶ ἤσθιεν ὁ λαὸς σὺν τω̨̃ αἵματι (Ⅲ)

- et versus ad prædam tulit oves, et boves, et vitulos, et mactaverunt in terra : comeditque populus cum sanguine. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 32 ׃14 *ויעש **ויעט העם אל *שלל **השלל ויקחו צאן ובקר ובני בקר וישחטו ארצה ויאכל העם על הדם ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 33

Then they told Saul, saying, Behold, the people sin against the LORD, in that they eat with the blood. And he said, Ye have transgressed: roll a great stone unto me this day.

- On le rapporta à Saül, et l'on dit: Voici, le peuple pèche contre l'Éternel, en mangeant avec le sang. Saül dit: Vous commettez une infidélité; roulez à l'instant vers moi une grande pierre. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀπηγγέλη τω̨̃ Σαουλ λέγοντες ἡμάρτηκεν ὁ λαὸς τω̨̃ κυρίω̨ φαγὼν σὺν τω̨̃ αἵματι καὶ εἰ̃πεν Σαουλ ἐν Γεθθεμ κυλίσατέ μοι λίθον ἐνταυ̃θα μέγαν (Ⅲ)

- Nuntiaverunt autem Sauli dicentes quod populus peccasset Domino, comedens cum sanguine. Qui ait : Prævaricati estis : volvite ad me jam nunc saxum grande. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 33 ׃14 ויגידו לשאול לאמר הנה העם חטאים ליהוה לאכל על הדם ויאמר בגדתם גלו אלי היום אבן גדולה ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 34

And Saul said, Disperse yourselves among the people, and say unto them, Bring me hither every man his ox, and every man his sheep, and slay them here, and eat; and sin not against the LORD in eating with the blood. And all the people brought every man his ox with him that night, and slew them there.

- Puis il ajouta: Répandez-vous parmi le peuple, et dites à chacun de m'amener son boeuf ou sa brebis, et de l'égorger ici. Vous mangerez ensuite, et vous ne pécherez point contre l'Éternel, en mangeant avec le sang. Et pendant la nuit, chacun parmi le peuple amena son boeuf à la main, afin de l'égorger sur la pierre. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Σαουλ διασπάρητε ἐν τω̨̃ λαω̨̃ καὶ εἴπατε αὐτοι̃ς προσαγαγει̃ν ἐνταυ̃θα ἕκαστος τὸν μόσχον αὐτου̃ καὶ ἕκαστος τὸ πρόβατον αὐτου̃ καὶ σφαζέτω ἐπὶ τούτου καὶ οὐ μὴ ἁμάρτητε τω̨̃ κυρίω̨ του̃ ἐσθίειν σὺν τω̨̃ αἵματι καὶ προση̃γεν πα̃ς ὁ λαὸς ἕκαστος τὸ ἐν τη̨̃ χειρὶ αὐτου̃ καὶ ἔσφαζον ἐκει̃ (Ⅲ)

- Et dixit Saul : Dispergimini in vulgus, et dicite eis ut adducat ad me unusquisque bovem suum et arietem, et occidite super istud, et vescimini, et non peccabitis Domino comedentes cum sanguine. Adduxit itaque omnis populus unusquisque bovem in manu sua usque ad noctem : et occiderunt ibi. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 34 ׃14 ויאמר שאול פצו בעם ואמרתם להם הגישו אלי איש שורו ואיש שיהו ושחטתם בזה ואכלתם ולא תחטאו ליהוה לאכל אל הדם ויגשו כל העם איש שורו בידו הלילה וישחטו שם ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 35

And Saul built an altar unto the LORD: the same was the first altar that he built unto the LORD.

- Saül bâtit un autel à l'Éternel: ce fut le premier autel qu'il bâtit à l'Éternel. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ὠ̨κοδόμησεν ἐκει̃ Σαουλ θυσιαστήριον τω̨̃ κυρίω̨ του̃το ἤρξατο Σαουλ οἰκοδομη̃σαι θυσιαστήριον τω̨̃ κυρίω̨ (Ⅲ)

- Ædificavit autem Saul altare Domino, tuncque primum cœpit ædificare altare Domino.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 35 ׃14 ויבן שאול מזבח ליהוה אתו החל לבנות מזבח ליהוה פ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 36

And Saul said, Let us go down after the Philistines by night, and spoil them until the morning light, and let us not leave a man of them. And they said, Do whatsoever seemeth good unto thee. Then said the priest, Let us draw near hither unto God.

- Saül dit: Descendons cette nuit après les Philistins, pillons-les jusqu'à la lumière du matin, et n'en laissons pas un de reste. Ils dirent: Fais tout ce qui te semblera bon. Alors le sacrificateur dit: Approchons-nous ici de Dieu. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Σαουλ καταβω̃μεν ὀπίσω τω̃ν ἀλλοφύλων τὴν νύκτα καὶ διαρπάσωμεν ἐν αὐτοι̃ς ἕως διαφαύση̨ ἡ ἡμέρα καὶ μὴ ὑπολίπωμεν ἐν αὐτοι̃ς ἄνδρα καὶ εἰ̃παν πα̃ν τὸ ἀγαθὸν ἐνώπιόν σου ποίει καὶ εἰ̃πεν ὁ ἱερεύς προσέλθωμεν ἐνταυ̃θα πρὸς τὸν θεόν (Ⅲ)

- Et dixit Saul : Irruamus super Philisthæos nocte, et vastemus eos usque dum illucescat mane, nec relinquamus ex eis virum. Dixitque populus : Omne quod bonum videtur in oculis tuis, fac. Et ait sacerdos : Accedamus huc ad Deum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 36 ׃14 ויאמר שאול נרדה אחרי פלשתים לילה ונבזה בהם עד אור הבקר ולא נשאר בהם איש ויאמרו כל הטוב בעיניך עשה סויאמר הכהן נקרבה הלם אל האלהים ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 37

And Saul asked counsel of God, Shall I go down after the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into the hand of Israel? But he answered him not that day.

- Et Saül consulta Dieu: Descendrai-je après les Philistins? Les livreras-tu entre les mains d'Israël? Mais en ce moment il ne lui donna point de réponse. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐπηρώτησεν Σαουλ τὸν θεόν εἰ καταβω̃ ὀπίσω τω̃ν ἀλλοφύλων εἰ παραδώσεις αὐτοὺς εἰς χει̃ρας Ισραηλ καὶ οὐκ ἀπεκρίθη αὐτω̨̃ ἐν τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ ἐκείνη̨ (Ⅲ)

- Et consuluit Saul Dominum : Num persequar Philisthiim ? si trades eos in manus Israël ? Et non respondit ei in die illa. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 37 ׃14 וישאל שאול באלהים הארד אחרי פלשתים התתנם ביד ישראל ולא ענהו ביום ההוא ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 38

And Saul said, Draw ye near hither, all the chief of the people: and know and see wherein this sin hath been this day.

- Saül dit: Approchez ici, vous tous chefs du peuple; recherchez et voyez comment ce péché a été commis aujourd'hui. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Σαουλ προσαγάγετε ἐνταυ̃θα πάσας τὰς γωνίας του̃ Ισραηλ καὶ γνω̃τε καὶ ἴδετε ἐν τίνι γέγονεν ἡ ἁμαρτία αὕτη σήμερον (Ⅲ)

- Dixitque Saul : Applicate huc universos angulos populi : et scitote, et videte per quem acciderit peccatum hoc hodie. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 38 ׃14 ויאמר שאול גשו הלם כל פנות העם ודעו וראו במה היתה החטאת הזאת היום ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 39

For, as the LORD liveth, which saveth Israel, though it be in Jonathan my son, he shall surely die. But there was not a man among all the people that answered him.

- Car l'Éternel, le libérateur d'Israël, est vivant! lors même que Jonathan, mon fils, en serait l'auteur, il mourrait. Et dans tout le peuple personne ne lui répondit. (Ⅱ)

- ὅτι ζη̨̃ κύριος ὁ σώσας τὸν Ισραηλ ὅτι ἐὰν ἀποκριθη̨̃ κατὰ Ιωναθαν του̃ υἱου̃ μου θανάτω̨ ἀποθανει̃ται καὶ οὐκ ἠ̃ν ὁ ἀποκρινόμενος ἐκ παντὸς του̃ λαου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Vivit Dominus salvator Israël, quia si per Jonathan filium meum factum est, absque retractione morietur. Ad quod nullus contradixit ei de omni populo. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 39 ׃14 כי חי יהוה המושיע את ישראל כי אם ישנו ביונתן בני כי מות ימות ואין ענהו מכל העם ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 40

Then said he unto all Israel, Be ye on one side, and I and Jonathan my son will be on the other side. And the people said unto Saul, Do what seemeth good unto thee.

- Il dit à tout Israël: Mettez-vous d'un côté; et moi et Jonathan, mon fils, nous serons de l'autre. Et le peuple dit à Saül: Fais ce qui te semblera bon. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν παντὶ Ισραηλ ὑμει̃ς ἔσεσθε εἰς δουλείαν καὶ ἐγὼ καὶ Ιωναθαν ὁ υἱός μου ἐσόμεθα εἰς δουλείαν καὶ εἰ̃πεν ὁ λαὸς πρὸς Σαουλ τὸ ἀγαθὸν ἐνώπιόν σου ποίει (Ⅲ)

- Et ait ad universum Israël : Separamini vos in partem unam, et ego cum Jonatha filio meo ero in parte altera. Responditque populus ad Saul : Quod bonum videtur in oculis tuis, fac.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 40 ׃14 ויאמר אל כל ישראל אתם תהיו לעבר אחד ואני ויונתן בני נהיה לעבר אחד ויאמרו העם אל שאול הטוב בעיניך עשה ס‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 41

Therefore Saul said unto the LORD God of Israel, Give a perfect lot. And Saul and Jonathan were taken: but the people escaped.

- Saül dit à l'Éternel: Dieu d'Israël! fais connaître la vérité. Jonathan et Saül furent désignés, et le peuple fut libéré. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Σαουλ κύριε ὁ θεὸς Ισραηλ τί ὅτι οὐκ ἀπεκρίθης τω̨̃ δούλω̨ σου σήμερον εἰ ἐν ἐμοὶ ἢ ἐν Ιωναθαν τω̨̃ υἱω̨̃ μου ἡ ἀδικία κύριε ὁ θεὸς Ισραηλ δὸς δήλους καὶ ἐὰν τάδε εἴπη̨ς ἐν τω̨̃ λαω̨̃ σου Ισραηλ δὸς δὴ ὁσιότητα καὶ κληρου̃ται Ιωναθαν καὶ Σαουλ καὶ ὁ λαὸς ἐξη̃λθεν (Ⅲ)

- Et dixit Saul ad Dominum Deum Israël : Domine Deus Israël, da indicium : quid est quod non responderis servo tuo hodie ? si in me, aut in Jonatha filio meo, est iniquitas hæc, da ostensionem : aut si hæc iniquitas est in populo tuo, da sanctitatem. Et deprehensus est Jonathas et Saul : populus autem exivit. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 41 ׃14 ויאמר שאול אל יהוה אלהי ישראל הבה תמים וילכד יונתן ושאול והעם יצאו ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 42

And Saul said, Cast lots between me and Jonathan my son. And Jonathan was taken.

- Saül dit: Jetez le sort entre moi et Jonathan, mon fils. Et Jonathan fut désigné. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Σαουλ βάλετε ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμου̃ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον Ιωναθαν του̃ υἱου̃ μου ὃν ἂν κατακληρώσηται κύριος ἀποθανέτω καὶ εἰ̃πεν ὁ λαὸς πρὸς Σαουλ οὐκ ἔστιν τὸ ῥη̃μα του̃το καὶ κατεκράτησεν Σαουλ του̃ λαου̃ καὶ βάλλουσιν ἀνὰ μέσον αὐτου̃ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον Ιωναθαν του̃ υἱου̃ αὐτου̃ καὶ κατακληρου̃ται Ιωναθαν (Ⅲ)

- Et ait Saul : Mittite sortem inter me et inter Jonathan filium meum. Et captus est Jonathas. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 42 ׃14 ויאמר שאול הפילו ביני ובין יונתן בני וילכד יונתן ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 43

Then Saul said to Jonathan, Tell me what thou hast done. And Jonathan told him, and said, I did but taste a little honey with the end of the rod that was in mine hand, and, lo, I must die.

- Saül dit à Jonathan: Déclare-moi ce que tu as fait. Jonathan le lui déclara, et dit: J'ai goûté un peu de miel, avec le bout du bâton que j'avais à la main: me voici, je mourrai. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Σαουλ πρὸς Ιωναθαν ἀπάγγειλόν μοι τί πεποίηκας καὶ ἀπήγγειλεν αὐτω̨̃ Ιωναθαν καὶ εἰ̃πεν γευσάμενος ἐγευσάμην ἐν ἄκρω̨ τω̨̃ σκήπτρω̨ τω̨̃ ἐν τη̨̃ χειρί μου βραχὺ μέλι ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ἀποθνή̨σκω (Ⅲ)

- Dixit autem Saul ad Jonathan : Indica mihi quid feceris. Et indicavit ei Jonathas, et ait : Gustans gustavi in summitate virgæ quæ erat in manu mea, paululum mellis, et ecce ego morior. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 43 ׃14 ויאמר שאול אל יונתן הגידה לי מה עשיתה ויגד לו יונתן ויאמר טעם טעמתי בקצה המטה אשר בידי מעט דבש הנני אמות ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 44

And Saul answered, God do so and more also: for thou shalt surely die, Jonathan.

- Et Saül dit: Que Dieu me traite dans toute sa rigueur, si tu ne meurs pas, Jonathan! (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν αὐτω̨̃ Σαουλ τάδε ποιήσαι μοι ὁ θεὸς καὶ τάδε προσθείη ὅτι θανάτω̨ ἀποθανη̨̃ σήμερον (Ⅲ)

- Et ait Saul : Hæc faciat mihi Deus, et hæc addat, quia morte morieris, Jonatha. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 44 ׃14 ויאמר שאול כה יעשה אלהים וכה יוסף כי מות תמות יונתן ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 45

And the people said unto Saul, Shall Jonathan die, who hath wrought this great salvation in Israel? God forbid: as the LORD liveth, there shall not one hair of his head fall to the ground; for he hath wrought with God this day. So the people rescued Jonathan, that he died not.

- Le peuple dit à Saül: Quoi! Jonathan mourrait, lui qui a opéré cette grande délivrance en Israël! Loin de là! L'Éternel est vivant! il ne tombera pas à terre un cheveu de sa tête, car c'est avec Dieu qu'il a agi dans cette journée. Ainsi le peuple sauva Jonathan, et il ne mourut point. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν ὁ λαὸς πρὸς Σαουλ εἰ σήμερον θανατωθήσεται ὁ ποιήσας τὴν σωτηρίαν τὴν μεγάλην ταύτην ἐν Ισραηλ ζη̨̃ κύριος εἰ πεσει̃ται τη̃ς τριχὸς τη̃ς κεφαλη̃ς αὐτου̃ ἐπὶ τὴν γη̃ν ὅτι ὁ λαὸς του̃ θεου̃ ἐποίησεν τὴν ἡμέραν ταύτην καὶ προσηύξατο ὁ λαὸς περὶ Ιωναθαν ἐν τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ ἐκείνη̨ καὶ οὐκ ἀπέθανεν (Ⅲ)

- Dixitque populus ad Saul : Ergone Jonathas morietur, qui fecit salutem hanc magnam in Israël ? hoc nefas est : vivit Dominus, si ceciderit capillus de capite ejus in terram, quia cum Deo operatus est hodie. Liberavit ergo populus Jonathan, ut non moreretur. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 45 ׃14 ויאמר העם אל שאול היונתן ימות אשר עשה הישועה הגדולה הזאת בישראל חלילה חי יהוה אם יפל משערת ראשו ארצה כי עם אלהים עשה היום הזה ויפדו העם את יונתן ולא מת ס‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 46

Then Saul went up from following the Philistines: and the Philistines went to their own place.

- Saül cessa de poursuivre les Philistins, et les Philistins s'en allèrent chez eux. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀνέβη Σαουλ ἀπὸ ὄπισθεν τω̃ν ἀλλοφύλων καὶ οἱ ἀλλόφυλοι ἀπη̃λθον εἰς τὸν τόπον αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Recessitque Saul, nec persecutus est Philisthiim : porro Philisthiim abierunt in loca sua.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 46 ׃14 ויעל שאול מאחרי פלשתים ופלשתים הלכו למקומם ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 47

So Saul took the kingdom over Israel, and fought against all his enemies on every side, against Moab, and against the children of Ammon, and against Edom, and against the kings of Zobah, and against the Philistines: and whithersoever he turned himself, he vexed them.

- Après que Saül eut pris possession de la royauté sur Israël, il fit de tous côtés la guerre à tous ses ennemis, à Moab, aux enfants d'Ammon, à Édom, aux rois de Tsoba, et aux Philistins; et partout où il se tournait, il était vainqueur. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ Σαουλ κατακληρου̃ται ἔργον ἐπὶ Ισραηλ καὶ ἐπολέμει κύκλω̨ πάντας τοὺς ἐχθροὺς αὐτου̃ εἰς τὸν Μωαβ καὶ εἰς τοὺς υἱοὺς Αμμων καὶ εἰς τοὺς υἱοὺς Εδωμ καὶ εἰς τὸν Βαιθεωρ καὶ εἰς βασιλέα Σουβα καὶ εἰς τοὺς ἀλλοφύλους οὑ̃ ἂν ἐστράφη ἐσώ̨ζετο (Ⅲ)

- Et Saul, confirmato regno super Israël, pugnabat per circuitum adversum omnes inimicos ejus, contra Moab, et filios Ammon, et Edom, et reges Soba, et Philisthæos : et quocumque se verterat, superabat. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 47 ׃14 ושאול לכד המלוכה על ישראל וילחם סביב בכל איביו במואב ובבני עמון ובאדום ובמלכי צובה ובפלשתים ובכל אשר יפנה ירשיע ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 48

And he gathered an host, and smote the Amalekites, and delivered Israel out of the hands of them that spoiled them.

- Il manifesta sa force, battit Amalek, et délivra Israël de la main de ceux qui le pillaient. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐποίησεν δύναμιν καὶ ἐπάταξεν τὸν Αμαληκ καὶ ἐξείλατο τὸν Ισραηλ ἐκ χειρὸς τω̃ν καταπατούντων αὐτόν (Ⅲ)

- Congregatoque exercitu, percussit Amalec, et eruit Israël de manu vastatorum ejus. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 48 ׃14 ויעש חיל ויך את עמלק ויצל את ישראל מיד שסהו ס‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 49

Now the sons of Saul were Jonathan, and Ishui, and Melchishua: and the names of his two daughters were these; the name of the firstborn Merab, and the name of the younger Michal:

- Les fils de Saül étaient Jonathan, Jischvi et Malkischua. Ses deux filles s'appelaient: l'aînée Mérab, et la plus jeune Mical. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἠ̃σαν υἱοὶ Σαουλ Ιωναθαν καὶ Ιεσσιου καὶ Μελχισα καὶ ὀνόματα τω̃ν δύο θυγατέρων αὐτου̃ ὄνομα τη̨̃ πρωτοτόκω̨ Μεροβ καὶ ὄνομα τη̨̃ δευτέρα̨ Μελχολ (Ⅲ)

- Fuerunt autem filii Saul, Jonathas, et Jessui, et Melchisua : et nomina duarum filiarum ejus, nomen primogenitæ Merob, et nomen minoris Michol. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 49 ׃14 ויהיו בני שאול יונתן וישוי ומלכי שוע ושם שתי בנתיו שם הבכירה מרב ושם הקטנה מיכל ‬ (Ⅴ)

14. 50

And the name of Saul's wife was Ahinoam, the daughter of Ahimaaz: and the name of the captain of his host was Abner, the son of Ner, Saul's uncle.

- Le nom de la femme de Saül était Achinoam, fille d'Achimaats. Le nom du chef de son armée était Abner, fils de Ner, oncle de Saül. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ὄνομα τη̨̃ γυναικὶ αὐτου̃ Αχινοομ θυγάτηρ Αχιμαας καὶ ὄνομα τω̨̃ ἀρχιστρατήγω̨ Αβεννηρ υἱὸς Νηρ υἱου̃ οἰκείου Σαουλ (Ⅲ)

- Et nomen uxoris Saul Achinoam filia Achimaas : et nomen principis militiæ ejus Abner filius Ner, patruelis Saul. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 50 ׃14 ושם אשת שאול אחינעם בת אחימעץ ושם שר צבאו אבינר בן נר דוד שאול ‬ (Ⅴ)
