And Samuel died; and all the Israelites were gathered together, and lamented him, and buried him in his house at Ramah. And David arose, and went down to the wilderness of Paran.
- Samuel mourut. Tout Israël s'étant assemblé le pleura, et on l'enterra dans sa demeure à Rama. Ce fut alors que David se leva et descendit au désert de Paran. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀπέθανεν Σαμουηλ καὶ συναθροίζονται πα̃ς Ισραηλ καὶ κόπτονται αὐτὸν καὶ θάπτουσιν αὐτὸν ἐν οἴκω̨ αὐτου̃ ἐν Αρμαθαιμ καὶ ἀνέστη Δαυιδ καὶ κατέβη εἰς τὴν ἔρημον Μααν (Ⅲ) - Mortuus est autem Samuel, et congregatus est universus Israël, et planxerunt eum, et sepelierunt eum in domo sua in Ramatha. And there was a man in Maon, whose possessions were in Carmel; and the man was very great, and he had three thousand sheep, and a thousand goats: and he was shearing his sheep in Carmel.
- Il y avait à Maon un homme fort riche, possédant des biens à Carmel; il avait trois mille brebis et mille chèvres, et il se trouvait à Carmel pour la tonte de ses brebis. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἠ̃ν ἄνθρωπος ἐν τη̨̃ Μααν καὶ τὰ ποίμνια αὐτου̃ ἐν τω̨̃ Καρμήλω̨ καὶ ὁ ἄνθρωπος μέγας σφόδρα καὶ τούτω̨ ποίμνια τρισχίλια καὶ αἰ̃γες χίλιαι καὶ ἐγενήθη ἐν τω̨̃ κείρειν τὸ ποίμνιον αὐτου̃ ἐν τω̨̃ Καρμήλω̨ (Ⅲ) - Erat autem vir quispiam in solitudine Maon, et possessio ejus in Carmelo, et homo ille magnus nimis : erantque ei oves tria millia, et mille capræ : et accidit ut tonderetur grex ejus in Carmelo. Now the name of the man was Nabal; and the name of his wife Abigail: and she was a woman of good understanding, and of a beautiful countenance: but the man was churlish and evil in his doings; and he was of the house of Caleb.
- Le nom de cet homme était Nabal, et sa femme s'appelait Abigaïl; c'était une femme de bon sens et belle de figure, mais l'homme était dur et méchant dans ses actions. Il descendait de Caleb. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ὄνομα τω̨̃ ἀνθρώπω̨ Ναβαλ καὶ ὄνομα τη̨̃ γυναικὶ αὐτου̃ Αβιγαια καὶ ἡ γυνὴ αὐτου̃ ἀγαθὴ συνέσει καὶ καλὴ τω̨̃ εἴδει σφόδρα καὶ ὁ ἄνθρωπος σκληρὸς καὶ πονηρὸς ἐν ἐπιτηδεύμασιν καὶ ὁ ἄνθρωπος κυνικός (Ⅲ) - Nomen autem viri illius erat Nabal. And David heard in the wilderness that Nabal did shear his sheep.
- David apprit au désert que Nabal tondait ses brebis. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἤκουσεν Δαυιδ ἐν τη̨̃ ἐρήμω̨ ὅτι κείρει Ναβαλ ὁ Καρμήλιος τὸ ποίμνιον αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - Cum ergo audisset David in deserto quod tonderet Nabal gregem suum, (Ⅳ) - 4 ׃25 וישמע דוד במדבר כי גזז נבל את צאנו (Ⅴ)

And David sent out ten young men, and David said unto the young men, Get you up to Carmel, and go to Nabal, and greet him in my name:
- Il envoya vers lui dix jeunes gens, auxquels il dit: Montez à Carmel, et allez auprès de Nabal. Vous le saluerez en mon nom, (Ⅱ) - καὶ Δαυιδ ἀπέστειλεν δέκα παιδάρια καὶ εἰ̃πεν τοι̃ς παιδαρίοις ἀνάβητε εἰς Κάρμηλον καὶ ἀπέλθατε πρὸς Ναβαλ καὶ ἐρωτήσατε αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τω̨̃ ὀνόματί μου εἰς εἰρήνην (Ⅲ) - misit decem juvenes, et dixit eis : Ascendite in Carmelum, et venietis ad Nabal, et salutabitis eum ex nomine meo pacifice. (Ⅳ) - 5 ׃25 וישלח דוד עשרה נערים ויאמר דוד לנערים עלו כרמלה ובאתם אל נבל ושאלתם לו בשמי לשלום (Ⅴ)

And thus shall ye say to him that liveth in prosperity, Peace be both to thee, and peace be to thine house, and peace be unto all that thou hast.
- et vous lui parlerez ainsi: Pour la vie soit en paix, et que la paix soit avec ta maison et tout ce qui t'appartient! (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐρει̃τε τάδε εἰς ὥρας καὶ σὺ ὑγιαίνων καὶ ὁ οἰ̃κός σου καὶ πάντα τὰ σὰ ὑγιαίνοντα (Ⅲ) - Et dicetis : Sit fratribus meis et tibi pax, et domui tuæ pax, et omnibus, quæcumque habes, sit pax. (Ⅳ) - 6 ׃25 ואמרתם כה לחי ואתה שלום וביתך שלום וכל אשר לך שלום (Ⅴ)

And now I have heard that thou hast shearers: now thy shepherds which were with us, we hurt them not, neither was there ought missing unto them, all the while they were in Carmel.
- Et maintenant, j'ai appris que tu as les tondeurs. Or tes bergers ont été avec nous; nous ne leur avons fait aucun outrage, et rien ne leur a été enlevé pendant tout le temps qu'ils ont été à Carmel. (Ⅱ) - καὶ νυ̃ν ἰδοὺ ἀκήκοα ὅτι κείρουσίν σοι νυ̃ν οἱ ποιμένες σου οἳ ἠ̃σαν μεθ' ἡμω̃ν ἐν τη̨̃ ἐρήμω̨ καὶ οὐκ ἀπεκωλύσαμεν αὐτοὺς καὶ οὐκ ἐνετειλάμεθα αὐτοι̃ς οὐθὲν πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας ὄντων αὐτω̃ν ἐν Καρμήλω̨ (Ⅲ) - Audivi quod tonderent pastores tui, qui erant nobiscum in deserto : numquam eis molesti fuimus, nec aliquando defuit quidquam eis de grege, omni tempore quo fuerunt nobiscum in Carmelo. (Ⅳ) - 7 ׃25 ועתה שמעתי כי גזזים לך עתה הרעים אשר לך היו עמנו לא הכלמנום ולא נפקד להם מאומה כל ימי היותם בכרמל (Ⅴ)

Ask thy young men, and they will show thee. Wherefore let the young men find favor in thine eyes: for we come in a good day: give, I pray thee, whatsoever cometh to thine hand unto thy servants, and to thy son David.
- Demande-le à tes serviteurs, et ils te le diront. Que ces jeunes gens trouvent donc grâce à tes yeux, puisque nous venons dans un jour de joie. Donne donc, je te prie, à tes serviteurs et à ton fils David ce qui se trouvera sous ta main. (Ⅱ) - ἐρώτησον τὰ παιδάριά σου καὶ ἀπαγγελου̃σίν σοι καὶ εὑρέτωσαν τὰ παιδάρια χάριν ἐν ὀφθαλμοι̃ς σου ὅτι ἐφ' ἡμέραν ἀγαθὴν ἥκομεν δὸς δὴ ὃ ἐὰν εὕρη̨ ἡ χείρ σου τω̨̃ υἱω̨̃ σου τω̨̃ Δαυιδ (Ⅲ) - Interroga pueros tuos, et indicabunt tibi. Nunc ergo inveniant pueri tui gratiam in oculis tuis : in die enim bona venimus : quodcumque invenerit manus tua, da servis tuis, et filio tuo David. (Ⅳ) - 8 ׃25 שאל את נעריך ויגידו לך וימצאו הנערים חן בעיניך כי על יום טוב בנו תנה נא את אשר תמצא ידך לעבדיך ולבנך לדוד (Ⅴ)

And when David's young men came, they spake to Nabal according to all those words in the name of David, and ceased.
- Lorsque les gens de David furent arrivés, ils répétèrent à Nabal toutes ces paroles, au nom de David. Puis ils se turent. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔρχονται τὰ παιδάρια καὶ λαλου̃σιν τοὺς λόγους τούτους πρὸς Ναβαλ κατὰ πάντα τὰ ῥήματα ταυ̃τα ἐν τω̨̃ ὀνόματι Δαυιδ καὶ ἀνεπήδησεν (Ⅲ) - Cumque venissent pueri David, locuti sunt ad Nabal omnia verba hæc ex nomine David : et siluerunt. (Ⅳ) - 9 ׃25 ויבאו נערי דוד וידברו אל נבל ככל הדברים האלה בשם דוד וינוחו (Ⅴ)

And Nabal answered David's servants, and said, Who is David? and who is the son of Jesse? there be many servants now a days that break away every man from his master.
- Nabal répondit aux serviteurs de David: Qui est David, et qui est le fils d'Isaï? Il y a aujourd'hui beaucoup de serviteurs qui s'échappent d'auprès de leurs maîtres. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀπεκρίθη Ναβαλ τοι̃ς παισὶν Δαυιδ καὶ εἰ̃πεν τίς ὁ Δαυιδ καὶ τίς ὁ υἱὸς Ιεσσαι σήμερον πεπληθυμμένοι εἰσὶν οἱ δου̃λοι ἀναχωρου̃ντες ἕκαστος ἐκ προσώπου του̃ κυρίου αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - Respondens autem Nabal pueris David, ait : Quis est David ? et quis est filius Isai ? hodie increverunt servi qui fugiunt dominos suos. (Ⅳ) - 10 ׃25 ויען נבל את עבדי דוד ויאמר מי דוד ומי בן ישי היום רבו עבדים המתפרצים איש מפני אדניו (Ⅴ)

Shall I then take my bread, and my water, and my flesh that I have killed for my shearers, and give it unto men, whom I know not whence they be?
- Et je prendrais mon pain, mon eau, et mon bétail que j'ai tué pour mes tondeurs, et je les donnerais à des gens qui sont je ne sais d'où? (Ⅱ) - καὶ λήμψομαι τοὺς ἄρτους μου καὶ τὸν οἰ̃νόν μου καὶ τὰ θύματά μου ἃ τέθυκα τοι̃ς κείρουσίν μου τὰ πρόβατα καὶ δώσω αὐτὰ ἀνδράσιν οἱ̃ς οὐκ οἰ̃δα πόθεν εἰσίν (Ⅲ) - Tollam ergo panes meos, et aquas meas, et carnes pecorum quæ occidi tonsoribus meis, et dabo viris quos nescio unde sint ?\ (Ⅳ) - 11 ׃25 ולקחתי את לחמי ואת מימי ואת טבחתי אשר טבחתי לגזזי ונתתי לאנשים אשר לא ידעתי אי מזה המה (Ⅴ)

So David's young men turned their way, and went again, and came and told him all those sayings.
- Les gens de David rebroussèrent chemin; ils s'en retournèrent, et redirent, à leur arrivée, toutes ces paroles à David. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀπεστράφησαν τὰ παιδάρια Δαυιδ εἰς ὁδὸν αὐτω̃ν καὶ ἀνέστρεψαν καὶ ἠ̃λθον καὶ ἀνήγγειλαν τω̨̃ Δαυιδ κατὰ τὰ ῥήματα ταυ̃τα (Ⅲ) - Regressi sunt itaque pueri David per viam suam, et reversi venerunt, et nuntiaverunt ei omnia verba quæ dixerat. (Ⅳ) - 12 ׃25 ויהפכו נערי דוד לדרכם וישבו ויבאו ויגדו לו ככל הדברים האלה (Ⅴ)

And David said unto his men, Gird ye on every man his sword. And they girded on every man his sword; and David also girded on his sword: and there went up after David about four hundred men; and two hundred abode by the stuff.
- Alors David dit à ses gens: Que chacun de vous ceigne son épée! Et ils ceignirent chacun leur épée. David aussi ceignit son épée, et environ quatre cents hommes montèrent à sa suite. Il en resta deux cents près des bagages. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν Δαυιδ τοι̃ς ἀνδράσιν αὐτου̃ ζώσασθε ἕκαστος τὴν ῥομφαίαν αὐτου̃ καὶ ἀνέβησαν ὀπίσω Δαυιδ ὡς τετρακόσιοι ἄνδρες καὶ οἱ διακόσιοι ἐκάθισαν μετὰ τω̃ν σκευω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Tunc ait David pueris suis : Accingatur unusquisque gladio suo. Et accincti sunt singuli gladiis suis, accinctusque est et David ense suo : et secuti sunt David quasi quadringenti viri : porro ducenti remanserunt ad sarcinas. (Ⅳ) - 13 ׃25 ויאמר דוד לאנשיו חגרו איש את חרבו ויחגרו איש את חרבו ויחגר גם דוד את חרבו ויעלו אחרי דוד כארבע מאות איש ומאתים ישבו על הכלים (Ⅴ)

But one of the young men told Abigail, Nabal's wife, saying, Behold, David sent messengers out of the wilderness to salute our master; and he railed on them.
- Un des serviteurs de Nabal vint dire à Abigaïl, femme de Nabal: Voici, David a envoyé du désert des messagers pour saluer notre maître, qui les a rudoyés. (Ⅱ) - καὶ τη̨̃ Αβιγαια γυναικὶ Ναβαλ ἀπήγγειλεν ἓν τω̃ν παιδαρίων λέγων ἰδοὺ Δαυιδ ἀπέστειλεν ἀγγέλους ἐκ τη̃ς ἐρήμου εὐλογη̃σαι τὸν κύριον ἡμω̃ν καὶ ἐξέκλινεν ἀπ' αὐτω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Abigail autem uxori Nabal nuntiavit unus de pueris suis, dicens : Ecce David misit nuntios de deserto, ut benedicerent domino nostro : et aversatus est eos. (Ⅳ) - 14 ׃25 ולאביגיל אשת נבל הגיד נער אחד מהנערים לאמר הנה שלח דוד מלאכים מהמדבר לברך את אדנינו ויעט בהם (Ⅴ)

But the men were very good unto us, and we were not hurt, neither missed we any thing, as long as we were conversant with them, when we were in the fields:
- Et pourtant ces gens ont été très bons pour nous; ils ne nous ont fait aucun outrage, et rien ne nous a été enlevé, tout le temps que nous avons été avec eux lorsque nous étions dans les champs. (Ⅱ) - καὶ οἱ ἄνδρες ἀγαθοὶ ἡμι̃ν σφόδρα οὐκ ἀπεκώλυσαν ἡμα̃ς οὐδὲ ἐνετείλαντο ἡμι̃ν πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας ἃς ἠ̃μεν παρ' αὐτοι̃ς καὶ ἐν τω̨̃ εἰ̃ναι ἡμα̃ς ἐν ἀγρω̨̃ (Ⅲ) - Homines isti boni satis fuerant nobis, et non molesti : nec quidquam aliquando periit omni tempore quo fuimus conversati cum eis in deserto : (Ⅳ) - 15 ׃25 והאנשים טבים לנו מאד ולא הכלמנו ולא פקדנו מאומה כל ימי התהלכנו אתם בהיותנו בשדה (Ⅴ)

They were a wall unto us both by night and day, all the while we were with them keeping the sheep.
- Ils nous ont nuit et jour servi de muraille, tout le temps que nous avons été avec eux, faisant paître les troupeaux. (Ⅱ) - ὡς τει̃χος ἠ̃σαν περὶ ἡμα̃ς καὶ τὴν νύκτα καὶ τὴν ἡμέραν πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας ἃς ἤμεθα παρ' αὐτοι̃ς ποιμαίνοντες τὸ ποίμνιον (Ⅲ) - pro muro erant nobis tam in nocte quam in die, omnibus diebus quibus pavimus apud eos greges. (Ⅳ) - 16 ׃25 חומה היו עלינו גם לילה גם יומם כל ימי היותנו עמם רעים הצאן (Ⅴ)

Now therefore know and consider what thou wilt do; for evil is determined against our master, and against all his household: for he is such a son of Belial, that a man cannot speak to him.
- Sache maintenant et vois ce que tu as à faire, car la perte de notre maître et de toute sa maison est résolue, et il est si méchant qu'on ose lui parler. (Ⅱ) - καὶ νυ̃ν γνω̃θι καὶ ἰδὲ τί σὺ ποιήσεις ὅτι συντετέλεσται ἡ κακία εἰς τὸν κύριον ἡμω̃ν καὶ εἰς τὸν οἰ̃κον αὐτου̃ καὶ οὑ̃τος υἱὸς λοιμός καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν λαλη̃σαι πρὸς αὐτόν (Ⅲ) - Quam ob rem considera, et recogita quid facias : quoniam completa est malitia adversum virum tuum, et adversum domum tuam, et ipse est filius Belial, ita ut nemo possit ei loqui. (Ⅳ) - 17 ׃25 ועתה דעי וראי מה תעשי כי כלתה הרעה אל אדנינו ועל כל ביתו והוא בן בליעל מדבר אליו (Ⅴ)

Then Abigail made haste, and took two hundred loaves, and two bottles of wine, and five sheep ready dressed, and five measures of parched corn, and an hundred clusters of raisins, and two hundred cakes of figs, and laid them on asses.
- Abigaïl prit aussitôt deux cents pains, deux outres de vin, cinq pièces de bétail apprêtées, cinq mesures de grain rôti, cent masses de raisins secs, et deux cents de figues sèches. Elle les mit sur des ânes, (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔσπευσεν Αβιγαια καὶ ἔλαβεν διακοσίους ἄρτους καὶ δύο ἀγγει̃α οἴνου καὶ πέντε πρόβατα πεποιημένα καὶ πέντε οιφι ἀλφίτου καὶ γομορ ἓν σταφίδος καὶ διακοσίας παλάθας καὶ ἔθετο ἐπὶ τοὺς ὄνους (Ⅲ) - Festinavit igitur Abigail, et tulit ducentos panes, et duos utres vini, et quinque arietes coctos, et quinque sata polentæ, et centum ligaturas uvæ passæ, et ducentas massas caricarum, et posuit super asinos : (Ⅳ) - 18 ׃25 ותמהר *אבוגיל **אביגיל ותקח מאתים לחם ושנים נבלי יין וחמש צאן *עשוות **עשוית[k] וחמש סאים קלי ומאה צמקים ומאתים דבלים ותשם על החמרים (Ⅴ)

And she said unto her servants, Go on before me; behold, I come after you. But she told not her husband Nabal.
- et elle dit à ses serviteurs: Passez devant moi, je vais vous suivre. Elle ne dit rien à Nabal, son mari. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν τοι̃ς παιδαρίοις αὐτη̃ς προπορεύεσθε ἔμπροσθέν μου καὶ ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ὀπίσω ὑμω̃ν παραγίνομαι καὶ τω̨̃ ἀνδρὶ αὐτη̃ς οὐκ ἀπήγγειλεν (Ⅲ) - dixitque pueris suis : Præcedite me : ecce ego post tergum sequar vos : viro autem suo Nabal non indicavit. (Ⅳ) - 19 ׃25 ותאמר לנעריה עברו לפני הנני אחריכם באה ולאישה נבל לא הגידה (Ⅴ)

And it was so, as she rode on the ass, that she came down by the covert on the hill, and, behold, David and his men came down against her; and she met them.
- Montée sur un âne, elle descendit la montagne par un chemin couvert; et voici, David et ses gens descendaient en face d'elle, en sorte qu'elle les rencontra. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐγενήθη αὐτη̃ς ἐπιβεβηκυίης ἐπὶ τὴν ὄνον καὶ καταβαινούσης ἐν σκέπη̨ του̃ ὄρους καὶ ἰδοὺ Δαυιδ καὶ οἱ ἄνδρες αὐτου̃ κατέβαινον εἰς συνάντησιν αὐτη̃ς καὶ ἀπήντησεν αὐτοι̃ς (Ⅲ) - Cum ergo ascendisset asinum, et descenderet ad radices montis, David et viri ejus descendebant in occursum ejus : quibus et illa occurrit. (Ⅳ) - 20 ׃25 והיה היא רכבת על החמור וירדת בסתר ההר והנה דוד ואנשיו ירדים לקראתה ותפגש אתם (Ⅴ)

Now David had said, Surely in vain have I kept all that this fellow hath in the wilderness, so that nothing was missed of all that pertained unto him: and he hath requited me evil for good.
- David avait dit: C'est bien en vain que j'ai gardé tout ce que cet homme a dans le désert, et que rien n'a été enlevé de tout ce qu'il possède; il m'a rendu le mal pour le bien. (Ⅱ) - καὶ Δαυιδ εἰ̃πεν ἴσως εἰς ἄδικον πεφύλακα πάντα τὰ αὐτου̃ ἐν τη̨̃ ἐρήμω̨ καὶ οὐκ ἐνετειλάμεθα λαβει̃ν ἐκ πάντων τω̃ν αὐτου̃ οὐθέν καὶ ἀνταπέδωκέν μοι πονηρὰ ἀντὶ ἀγαθω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Et ait David : Vere frustra servavi omnia quæ hujus erant in deserto, et non periit quidquam de cunctis quæ ad eum pertinebant : et reddidit mihi malum pro bono. (Ⅳ) - 21 ׃25 ודוד אמר אך לשקר שמרתי את כל אשר לזה במדבר ולא נפקד מכל אשר לו מאומה וישב לי רעה תחת טובה (Ⅴ)

So and more also do God unto the enemies of David, if I leave of all that pertain to him by the morning light any that pisseth against the wall.
- Que Dieu traite son serviteur David dans toute sa rigueur, si je laisse subsister jusqu'à la lumière du matin qui que ce soit de tout ce qui appartient à Nabal! (Ⅱ) - τάδε ποιήσαι ὁ θεὸς τω̨̃ Δαυιδ καὶ τάδε προσθείη εἰ ὑπολείψομαι ἐκ πάντων τω̃ν του̃ Ναβαλ ἕως πρωὶ οὐρου̃ντα πρὸς τοι̃χον (Ⅲ) - Hæc faciat Deus inimicis David, et hæc addat, si reliquero de omnibus quæ ad ipsum pertinent usque mane mingentem ad parietem.\ (Ⅳ) - 22 ׃25 כה יעשה אלהים לאיבי דוד וכה יסיף אם אשאיר מכל אשר לו עד הבקר משתין בקיר (Ⅴ)

And fell at his feet, and said, Upon me, my lord, upon me let this iniquity be: and let thine handmaid, I pray thee, speak in thine audience, and hear the words of thine handmaid.
- Puis, se jetant à ses pieds, elle dit: A moi la faute, mon seigneur! Permets à ta servante de parler à tes oreilles, et écoute les paroles de ta servante. Let not my lord, I pray thee, regard this man of Belial, even Nabal: for as his name is, so is he; Nabal is his name, and folly is with him: but I thine handmaid saw not the young men of my lord, whom thou didst send.
- Que mon seigneur ne prenne pas garde à ce méchant homme, à Nabal, car il est comme son nom; Nabal est son nom, et il y a chez lui de la folie. Et moi, ta servante, je n'ai pas vu les gens que mon seigneur a envoyés. Now therefore, my lord, as the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, seeing the LORD hath withholden thee from coming to shed blood, and from avenging thyself with thine own hand, now let thine enemies, and they that seek evil to my lord, be as Nabal.
- Maintenant, mon seigneur, aussi vrai que l'Éternel est vivant et que ton âme est vivante, c'est l'Éternel qui t'a empêché de répandre le sang et qui a retenu ta main. Que tes ennemis, que ceux qui veulent du mal à mon seigneur soient comme Nabal! And now this blessing which thine handmaid hath brought unto my lord, let it even be given unto the young men that follow my lord.

I pray thee, forgive the trespass of thine handmaid: for the LORD will certainly make my lord a sure house; because my lord fighteth the battles of the LORD, and evil hath not been found in thee all thy days.
- Pardonne, je te prie, la faute de ta servante, car l'Éternel fera à mon seigneur une maison stable; pardonne, car mon seigneur soutient les guerres de l'Éternel, et la méchanceté ne se trouvera jamais en toi. Yet a man is risen to pursue thee, and to seek thy soul: but the soul of my lord shall be bound in the bundle of life with the LORD thy God; and the souls of thine enemies, them shall he sling out, as out of the middle of a sling.
- S'il s'élève quelqu'un qui te poursuive et qui en veuille à ta vie, l'âme de mon seigneur sera liée dans le faisceau des vivants auprès de l'Éternel, ton Dieu, et il lancera du creux de la fronde l'âme de tes ennemis. And it shall come to pass, when the LORD shall have done to my lord according to all the good that he hath spoken concerning thee, and shall have appointed thee ruler over Israel;

That this shall be no grief unto thee, nor offense of heart unto my lord, either that thou hast shed blood causeless, or that my lord hath avenged himself: but when the LORD shall have dealt well with my lord, then remember thine handmaid.
- mon seigneur n'aura ni remords ni souffrance de coeur pour avoir répandu le sang inutilement et pour s'être vengé lui-même. Et lorsque l'Éternel aura fait du bien à mon seigneur, souviens-toi de ta servante. (Ⅱ) - καὶ οὐκ ἔσται σοι του̃το βδελυγμὸς καὶ σκάνδαλον τω̨̃ κυρίω̨ μου ἐκχέαι αἱ̃μα ἀθω̨̃ον δωρεὰν καὶ σω̃σαι χει̃ρα κυρίου μου αὐτω̨̃ καὶ ἀγαθώσει κύριος τω̨̃ κυρίω̨ μου καὶ μνησθήση̨ τη̃ς δούλης σου ἀγαθω̃σαι αὐτη̨̃ (Ⅲ) - non erit tibi hoc in singultum, et in scrupulum cordis domino meo, quod effuderis sanguinem innoxium, aut ipse te ultus fueris : et cum benefecerit Dominus domino meo, recordaberis ancillæ tuæ. And David said to Abigail, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, which sent thee this day to meet me:

And blessed be thy advice, and blessed be thou, which hast kept me this day from coming to shed blood, and from avenging myself with mine own hand.

For in very deed, as the LORD God of Israel liveth, which hath kept me back from hurting thee, except thou hadst hasted and come to meet me, surely there had not been left unto Nabal by the morning light any that pisseth against the wall.
- Mais l'Éternel, le Dieu d'Israël, qui m'a empêché de te faire du mal, est vivant! si tu ne t'étais hâtée de venir au-devant de moi, il ne serait resté qui que ce soit à Nabal, d'ici à la lumière du matin. (Ⅱ) - πλὴν ὅτι ζη̨̃ κύριος ὁ θεὸς Ισραηλ ὃς ἀπεκώλυσέν με σήμερον του̃ κακοποιη̃σαί σε ὅτι εἰ μὴ ἔσπευσας καὶ παρεγένου εἰς ἀπάντησίν μοι τότε εἰ̃πα εἰ ὑπολειφθήσεται τω̨̃ Ναβαλ ἕως φωτὸς του̃ πρωὶ οὐρω̃ν πρὸς τοι̃χον (Ⅲ) - Alioquin vivit Dominus Deus Israël, qui prohibuit me ne malum facerem tibi : nisi cito venisses in occursum mihi, non remansisset Nabal usque ad lucem matutinam mingens ad parietem. So David received of her hand that which she had brought him, and said unto her, Go up in peace to thine house; see, I have hearkened to thy voice, and have accepted thy person.
- Et David prit de la main d'Abigaïl ce qu'elle lui avait apporté, et lui dit: Monte en paix dans ta maison; vois, j'ai écouté ta voix, et je t'ai favorablement accueillie. And Abigail came to Nabal; and, behold, he held a feast in his house, like the feast of a king; and Nabal's heart was merry within him, for he was very drunken: wherefore she told him nothing, less or more, until the morning light.
- Abigaïl arriva auprès de Nabal. Et voici, il faisait dans sa maison un festin comme un festin de roi; il avait le coeur joyeux, et il était complètement dans l'ivresse. Elle ne lui dit aucune chose, petite ou grande, jusqu'à la lumière du matin. (Ⅱ) - καὶ παρεγενήθη Αβιγαια πρὸς Ναβαλ καὶ ἰδοὺ αὐτω̨̃ πότος ἐν οἴκω̨ αὐτου̃ ὡς πότος βασιλέως καὶ ἡ καρδία Ναβαλ ἀγαθὴ ἐπ' αὐτόν καὶ αὐτὸς μεθύων ἕως σφόδρα καὶ οὐκ ἀπήγγειλεν αὐτω̨̃ ῥη̃μα μικρὸν ἢ μέγα ἕως φωτὸς του̃ πρωί (Ⅲ) - Venit autem Abigail ad Nabal : et ecce erat ei convivium in domo ejus quasi convivium regis, et cor Nabal jucundum : erat enim ebrius nimis : et non indicavit ei verbum pusillum aut grande usque mane. (Ⅳ) - 36 ׃25 ותבא אביגיל אל נבל והנה לו משתה בביתו כמשתה המלך ולב נבל טוב עליו והוא שכר עד מאד ולא הגידה לו דבר קטן וגדול עד אור הבקר (Ⅴ)

But it came to pass in the morning, when the wine was gone out of Nabal, and his wife had told him these things, that his heart died within him, and he became as a stone.
- Mais le matin, l'ivresse de Nabal s'étant dissipée, sa femme lui raconta ce qui s'était passé. Le coeur de Nabal reçut un coup mortel, et devint comme une pierre. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐγένετο πρωί ὡς ἐξένηψεν ἀπὸ του̃ οἴνου Ναβαλ ἀπήγγειλεν αὐτω̨̃ ἡ γυνὴ αὐτου̃ τὰ ῥήματα ταυ̃τα καὶ ἐναπέθανεν ἡ καρδία αὐτου̃ ἐν αὐτω̨̃ καὶ αὐτὸς γίνεται ὡς λίθος (Ⅲ) - Diluculo autem cum digessisset vinum Nabal, indicavit ei uxor sua verba hæc : et emortuum est cor ejus intrinsecus, et factus est quasi lapis. (Ⅳ) - 37 ׃25 ויהי בבקר בצאת היין מנבל ותגד לו אשתו את הדברים האלה וימת לבו בקרבו והוא היה לאבן (Ⅴ)

And it came to pass about ten days after, that the LORD smote Nabal, that he died.
- Environ dix jours après, l'Éternel frappa Nabal, et il mourut. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐγένετο ὡσεὶ δέκα ἡμέραι καὶ ἐπάταξεν κύριος τὸν Ναβαλ καὶ ἀπέθανεν (Ⅲ) - Cumque pertransissent decem dies, percussit Dominus Nabal, et mortuus est. (Ⅳ) - 38 ׃25 ויהי כעשרת הימים ויגף יהוה את נבל וימת (Ⅴ)

And when David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, Blessed be the LORD, that hath pleaded the cause of my reproach from the hand of Nabal, and hath kept his servant from evil: for the LORD hath returned the wickedness of Nabal upon his own head. And David sent and communed with Abigail, to take her to him to wife.
- David apprit que Nabal était mort, et il dit: Béni soit l'Éternel, qui a défendu ma cause dans l'outrage que m'a fait Nabal, et qui a empêché son serviteur de faire le mal! L'Éternel a fait retomber la méchanceté de Nabal sur sa tête. David envoya proposer à Abigaïl de devenir sa femme. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἤκουσεν Δαυιδ καὶ εἰ̃πεν εὐλογητὸς κύριος ὃς ἔκρινεν τὴν κρίσιν του̃ ὀνειδισμου̃ μου ἐκ χειρὸς Ναβαλ καὶ τὸν δου̃λον αὐτου̃ περιεποιήσατο ἐκ χειρὸς κακω̃ν καὶ τὴν κακίαν Ναβαλ ἀπέστρεψεν κύριος εἰς κεφαλὴν αὐτου̃ καὶ ἀπέστειλεν Δαυιδ καὶ ἐλάλησεν περὶ Αβιγαιας λαβει̃ν αὐτὴν ἑαυτω̨̃ εἰς γυναι̃κα (Ⅲ) - Quod cum audisset David mortuum Nabal, ait : Benedictus Dominus, qui judicavit causam opprobrii mei de manu Nabal, et servum suum custodivit a malo, et malitiam Nabal reddidit Dominus in caput ejus. Misit ergo David, et locutus est ad Abigail, ut sumeret eam sibi in uxorem. (Ⅳ) - 39 ׃25 וישמע דוד כי מת נבל ויאמר ברוך יהוה אשר רב את ריב חרפתי מיד נבל ואת עבדו חשך מרעה ואת רעת נבל השיב יהוה בראשו וישלח דוד וידבר באביגיל לקחתה לו לאשה (Ⅴ)

And when the servants of David were come to Abigail to Carmel, they spake unto her, saying, David sent us unto thee, to take thee to him to wife.
- Les serviteurs de David arrivèrent chez Abigaïl à Carmel, et lui parlèrent ainsi: David nous a envoyés vers toi, afin de te prendre pour sa femme. And she arose, and bowed herself on her face to the earth, and said, Behold, let thine handmaid be a servant to wash the feet of the servants of my lord.
- Elle se leva, se prosterna le visage contre terre, et dit: Voici, ta servante sera une esclave pour laver les pieds des serviteurs de mon seigneur. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀνέστη καὶ προσεκύνησεν ἐπὶ τὴν γη̃ν ἐπὶ πρόσωπον καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἰδοὺ ἡ δούλη σου εἰς παιδίσκην νίψαι πόδας τω̃ν παίδων σου (Ⅲ) - Quæ consurgens, adoravit prona in terram, et ait : Ecce famula tua sit in ancillam, ut lavet pedes servorum domini mei. (Ⅳ) - 41 ׃25 ותקם ותשתחו אפים ארצה ותאמר הנה אמתך לשפחה לרחץ רגלי עבדי אדני (Ⅴ)

And Abigail hasted, and arose and rode upon an ass, with five damsels of hers that went after her; and she went after the messengers of David, and became his wife.
- Et aussitôt Abigaïl partit, montée sur un âne, et accompagnée de cinq jeunes filles; elle suivit les messagers de David, et elle devint sa femme. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀνέστη Αβιγαια καὶ ἐπέβη ἐπὶ τὴν ὄνον καὶ πέντε κοράσια ἠκολούθουν αὐτη̨̃ καὶ ἐπορεύθη ὀπίσω τω̃ν παίδων Δαυιδ καὶ γίνεται αὐτω̨̃ εἰς γυναι̃κα (Ⅲ) - Et festinavit, et surrexit Abigail, et ascendit super asinum, et quinque puellæ ierunt cum ea, pedissequæ ejus, et secuta est nuntios David : et facta est illi uxor. David also took Ahinoam of Jezreel; and they were also both of them his wives.
