9. 1

Now there was a man of Benjamin, whose name was Kish, the son of Abiel, the son of Zeror, the son of Bechorath, the son of Aphiah, a Benjamite, a mighty man of power.

- Il y avait un homme de Benjamin, nommé Kis, fils d'Abiel, fils de Tseror, fils de Becorath, fils d'Aphiach, fils d'un Benjamite. C'était un homme fort et vaillant. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἠ̃ν ἀνὴρ ἐξ υἱω̃ν Βενιαμιν καὶ ὄνομα αὐτω̨̃ Κις υἱὸς Αβιηλ υἱου̃ Σαρεδ υἱου̃ Βαχιρ υἱου̃ Αφεκ υἱου̃ ἀνδρὸς Ιεμιναίου ἀνὴρ δυνατός (Ⅲ)

- Et erat vir de Benjamin nomine Cis, filius Abiel, filii Seror, filii Bechorath, filii Aphia, filii viri Jemini, fortis robore. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 1 ׃9 ויהי איש *מבן *ימין **מבנימין‪[a]‬ ושמו קיש בן אביאל בן צרור בן בכורת בן אפיח בן איש ימיני גבור חיל ‬ (Ⅴ)

9. 2

And he had a son, whose name was Saul, a choice young man, and a goodly: and there was not among the children of Israel a goodlier person than he: from his shoulders and upward he was higher than any of the people.

- Il avait un fils du nom de Saül, jeune et beau, plus beau qu'aucun des enfants d'Israël, et les dépassant tous de la tête. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ τούτω̨ υἱός καὶ ὄνομα αὐτω̨̃ Σαουλ εὐμεγέθης ἀνὴρ ἀγαθός καὶ οὐκ ἠ̃ν ἐν υἱοι̃ς Ισραηλ ἀγαθὸς ὑπὲρ αὐτόν ὑπὲρ ὠμίαν καὶ ἐπάνω ὑψηλὸς ὑπὲρ πα̃σαν τὴν γη̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Et erat ei filius vocabulo Saul, electus et bonus : et non erat vir de filiis Israël melior illo : ab humero et sursum eminebat super omnem populum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 2 ׃9 ולו היה בן ושמו שאול בחור וטוב ואין איש מבני ישראל טוב ממנו משכמו ומעלה גבה מכל העם ‬ (Ⅴ)

9. 3

And the asses of Kish Saul's father were lost. And Kish said to Saul his son, Take now one of the servants with thee, and arise, go seek the asses.

- Les ânesses de Kis, père de Saül, s'égarèrent; et Kis dit à Saül, son fils: Prends avec toi l'un des serviteurs, lève-toi, va, et cherche les ânesses. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀπώλοντο αἱ ὄνοι Κις πατρὸς Σαουλ καὶ εἰ̃πεν Κις πρὸς Σαουλ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτου̃ λαβὲ μετὰ σεαυτου̃ ἓν τω̃ν παιδαρίων καὶ ἀνάστητε καὶ πορεύθητε καὶ ζητήσατε τὰς ὄνους (Ⅲ)

- Perierant autem asinæ Cis patris Saul : et dixit Cis ad Saul filium suum : Tolle tecum unum de pueris, et consurgens vade, et quære asinas. Qui cum transissent per montem Ephraim (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 3 ׃9 ותאבדנה האתנות לקיש אבי שאול ויאמר קיש אל שאול בנו קח נא אתך את אחד מהנערים וקום לך בקש את האתנת ‬ (Ⅴ)

9. 4

And he passed through mount Ephraim, and passed through the land of Shalisha, but they found them not: then they passed through the land of Shalim, and there they were not: and he passed through the land of the Benjamites, but they found them not.

- Il passa par la montagne d'Éphraïm et traversa le pays de Schalischa, sans les trouver; ils passèrent par le pays de Schaalim, et elles n'y étaient pas; ils parcoururent le pays de Benjamin, et ils ne les trouvèrent pas. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ διη̃λθον δι' ὄρους Εφραιμ καὶ διη̃λθον διὰ τη̃ς γη̃ς Σελχα καὶ οὐχ εὑ̃ρον καὶ διη̃λθον διὰ τη̃ς γη̃ς Εασακεμ καὶ οὐκ ἠ̃ν καὶ διη̃λθον διὰ τη̃ς γη̃ς Ιακιμ καὶ οὐχ εὑ̃ρον (Ⅲ)

- et per terram Salisa, et non invenissent, transierunt etiam per terram Salim, et non erant : sed et per terram Jemini, et minime repererunt. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 4 ׃9 ויעבר בהר אפרים ויעבר בארץ שלשה ולא מצאו ויעברו בארץ שעלים ואין ויעבר בארץ ימיני ולא מצאו ‬ (Ⅴ)

9. 5

And when they were come to the land of Zuph, Saul said to his servant that was with him, Come, and let us return; lest my father leave caring for the asses, and take thought for us.

- Ils étaient arrivés dans le pays de Tsuph, lorsque Saül dit à son serviteur qui l'accompagnait: Viens, retournons, de peur que mon père, oubliant les ânesses, ne soit en peine de nous. (Ⅱ)

- αὐτω̃ν ἐλθόντων εἰς τὴν Σιφ καὶ Σαουλ εἰ̃πεν τω̨̃ παιδαρίω̨ αὐτου̃ τω̨̃ μετ' αὐτου̃ δευ̃ρο καὶ ἀναστρέψωμεν μὴ ἀνεὶς ὁ πατήρ μου τὰς ὄνους φροντίζη̨ περὶ ἡμω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Cum autem venissent in terram Suph, dixit Saul ad puerum qui erat cum eo : Veni et revertamur, ne forte dimiserit pater meus asinas, et sollicitus sit pro nobis. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 5 ׃9 המה באו בארץ צוף ושאול אמר לנערו אשר עמו לכה ונשובה פן יחדל אבי מן האתנות ודאג לנו ‬ (Ⅴ)

9. 6

And he said unto him, Behold now, there is in this city a man of God, and he is an honorable man; all that he saith cometh surely to pass: now let us go thither; peradventure he can show us our way that we should go.

- Le serviteur lui dit: Voici, il y a dans cette ville un homme de Dieu, et c'est un homme considéré; tout ce qu'il dit ne manque pas d'arriver. Allons y donc; peut-être nous fera-t-il connaître le chemin que nous devons prendre. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν αὐτω̨̃ τὸ παιδάριον ἰδοὺ δὴ ἄνθρωπος του̃ θεου̃ ἐν τη̨̃ πόλει ταύτη̨ καὶ ὁ ἄνθρωπος ἔνδοξος πα̃ν ὃ ἐὰν λαλήση̨ παραγινόμενον παρέσται καὶ νυ̃ν πορευθω̃μεν ὅπως ἀπαγγείλη̨ ἡμι̃ν τὴν ὁδὸν ἡμω̃ν ἐφ' ἣν ἐπορεύθημεν ἐπ' αὐτήν (Ⅲ)

- Qui ait ei : Ecce vir Dei est in civitate hac, vir nobilis : omne quod loquitur, sine ambiguitate venit. Nunc ergo eamus illuc, si forte indicet nobis de via nostra, propter quam venimus. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 6 ׃9 ויאמר לו הנה נא איש אלהים בעיר הזאת והאיש נכבד כל אשר ידבר בוא יבוא עתה נלכה שם אולי יגיד לנו את דרכנו אשר הלכנו עליה ‬ (Ⅴ)

9. 7

Then said Saul to his servant, But, behold, if we go, what shall we bring the man? for the bread is spent in our vessels, and there is not a present to bring to the man of God: what have we?

- Saül dit à son serviteur: Mais si nous y allons, que porterons-nous à l'homme de Dieu? Car il n'y a plus de provisions dans nos sacs, et nous n'avons aucun présent à offrir à l'homme de Dieu. Qu'est-ce que nous avons? (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Σαουλ τω̨̃ παιδαρίω̨ αὐτου̃ τω̨̃ μετ' αὐτου̃ καὶ ἰδοὺ πορευσόμεθα καὶ τί οἴσομεν τω̨̃ ἀνθρώπω̨ του̃ θεου̃ ὅτι οἱ ἄρτοι ἐκλελοίπασιν ἐκ τω̃ν ἀγγείων ἡμω̃ν καὶ πλει̃ον οὐκ ἔστιν μεθ' ἡμω̃ν εἰσενεγκει̃ν τω̨̃ ἀνθρώπω̨ του̃ θεου̃ τὸ ὑπάρχον ἡμι̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Dixitque Saul ad puerum suum : Ecce ibimus : quid feremus ad virum Dei ? panis defecit in sitarciis nostris, et sportulam non habemus ut demus homini Dei, nec quidquam aliud. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 7 ׃9 ויאמר שאול לנערו והנה נלך ומה נביא לאיש כי הלחם אזל מכלינו ותשורה אין להביא לאיש האלהים מה אתנו ‬ (Ⅴ)

9. 8

And the servant answered Saul again, and said, Behold, I have here at hand the fourth part of a shekel of silver: that will I give to the man of God, to tell us our way.

- Le serviteur reprit la parole, et dit à Saül: Voici, j'ai sur moi le quart d'un sicle d'argent; je le donnerai à l'homme de Dieu, et il nous indiquera notre chemin. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ προσέθετο τὸ παιδάριον ἀποκριθη̃ναι τω̨̃ Σαουλ καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἰδοὺ εὕρηται ἐν τη̨̃ χειρί μου τέταρτον σίκλου ἀργυρίου καὶ δώσεις τω̨̃ ἀνθρώπω̨ του̃ θεου̃ καὶ ἀπαγγελει̃ ἡμι̃ν τὴν ὁδὸν ἡμω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Rursum puer respondit Sauli, et ait : Ecce inventa est in manu mea quarta pars stateris argenti : demus homini Dei, ut indicet nobis viam nostram. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 8 ׃9 ויסף הנער לענות את שאול ויאמר הנה נמצא בידי רבע שקל כסף ונתתי לאיש האלהים והגיד לנו את דרכנו ‬ (Ⅴ)

9. 9

(Beforetime in Israel, when a man went to inquire of God, thus he spake, Come, and let us go to the seer: for he that is now called a Prophet was beforetime called a Seer.)

- Autrefois en Israël, quand on allait consulter Dieu, on disait: Venez, et allons au voyant! Car celui qu'on appelle aujourd'hui le prophète s'appelait autrefois le voyant. - (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἔμπροσθεν ἐν Ισραηλ τάδε ἔλεγεν ἕκαστος ἐν τω̨̃ πορεύεσθαι ἐπερωτα̃ν τὸν θεόν δευ̃ρο πορευθω̃μεν πρὸς τὸν βλέποντα ὅτι τὸν προφήτην ἐκάλει ὁ λαὸς ἔμπροσθεν ὁ βλέπων (Ⅲ)

- (Olim in Israël sic loquebatur unusquisque vadens consulere Deum : Venite, et eamus ad videntem. Qui enim propheta dicitur hodie, vocabatur olim videns.) (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 9 ׃9 לפנים בישראל כה אמר האיש בלכתו לדרוש אלהים לכו ונלכה עד הראה כי לנביא היום יקרא לפנים הראה ‬ (Ⅴ)

9. 10

Then said Saul to his servant, Well said; come, let us go. So they went unto the city where the man of God was.

- Saül dit à son serviteur: Tu as raison: viens, allons! Et ils se rendirent à la ville où était l'homme de Dieu. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Σαουλ πρὸς τὸ παιδάριον αὐτου̃ ἀγαθὸν τὸ ῥη̃μα δευ̃ρο καὶ πορευθω̃μεν καὶ ἐπορεύθησαν εἰς τὴν πόλιν οὑ̃ ἠ̃ν ἐκει̃ ὁ ἄνθρωπος του̃ θεου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Et dixit Saul ad puerum suum : Optimus sermo tuus. Veni, eamus. Et ierunt in civitatem in qua erat vir Dei. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 10 ׃9 ויאמר שאול לנערו טוב דברך לכה נלכה וילכו אל העיר אשר שם איש האלהים ‬ (Ⅴ)

9. 11

And as they went up the hill to the city, they found young maidens going out to draw water, and said unto them, Is the seer here?

- Comme ils montaient à la ville, ils rencontrèrent des jeunes filles sorties pour puiser de l'eau, et ils leur dirent: Le voyant est-il ici? (Ⅱ)

- αὐτω̃ν ἀναβαινόντων τὴν ἀνάβασιν τη̃ς πόλεως καὶ αὐτοὶ εὑρίσκουσιν τὰ κοράσια ἐξεληλυθότα ὑδρεύσασθαι ὕδωρ καὶ λέγουσιν αὐται̃ς εἰ ἔστιν ἐνταυ̃θα ὁ βλέπων (Ⅲ)

- Cumque ascenderent clivum civitatis, invenerunt puellas egredientes ad hauriendam aquam, et dixerunt eis : Num hic est videns ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 11 ׃9 המה עלים במעלה העיר והמה מצאו נערות יצאות לשאב מים ויאמרו להן היש בזה הראה ‬ (Ⅴ)

9. 12

And they answered them, and said, He is; behold, he is before you: make haste now, for he came to day to the city; for there is a sacrifice of the people to day in the high place:

- Elles leur répondirent en disant: Oui, il est devant toi; mais va promptement, car aujourd'hui il est venu à la ville parce qu'il y a un sacrifice pour le peuple sur le haut lieu. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀπεκρίθη τὰ κοράσια αὐτοι̃ς καὶ λέγουσιν αὐτοι̃ς ἔστιν ἰδοὺ κατὰ πρόσωπον ὑμω̃ν νυ̃ν διὰ τὴν ἡμέραν ἥκει εἰς τὴν πόλιν ὅτι θυσία σήμερον τω̨̃ λαω̨̃ ἐν Βαμα (Ⅲ)

- Quæ respondentes, dixerunt illis : Hic est : ecce ante te, festina nunc : hodie enim venit in civitatem, quia sacrificium est hodie populi in excelso. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 12 ׃9 ותענינה אותם ותאמרנה יש הנה לפניך מהר עתה כי היום בא לעיר כי זבח היום לעם בבמה ‬ (Ⅴ)

9. 13

As soon as ye be come into the city, ye shall straightway find him, before he go up to the high place to eat: for the people will not eat until he come, because he doth bless the sacrifice; and afterwards they eat that be bidden. Now therefore get you up; for about this time ye shall find him.

- Quand vous serez entrés dans la ville, vous le trouverez avant qu'il monte au haut lieu pour manger; car le peuple ne mangera point qu'il ne soit arrivé, parce qu'il doit bénir le sacrifice; après quoi, les conviés mangeront. Montez donc, car maintenant vous le trouverez. (Ⅱ)

- ὡς ἂν εἰσέλθητε τὴν πόλιν οὕτως εὑρήσετε αὐτὸν ἐν τη̨̃ πόλει πρὶν ἀναβη̃ναι αὐτὸν εἰς Βαμα του̃ φαγει̃ν ὅτι οὐ μὴ φάγη̨ ὁ λαὸς ἕως του̃ εἰσελθει̃ν αὐτόν ὅτι οὑ̃τος εὐλογει̃ τὴν θυσίαν καὶ μετὰ ταυ̃τα ἐσθίουσιν οἱ ξένοι καὶ νυ̃ν ἀνάβητε ὅτι διὰ τὴν ἡμέραν εὑρήσετε αὐτόν (Ⅲ)

- Ingredientes urbem, statim invenietis eum antequam ascendat excelsum ad vescendum, neque enim comesurus est populus donec ille veniat : quia ipse benedicit hostiæ, et deinceps comedunt qui vocati sunt. Nunc ergo conscendite, quia hodie reperietis eum.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 13 ׃9 כבאכם העיר כן תמצאון אתו בטרם יעלה הבמתה לאכל כי לא יאכל העם עד באו כי הוא יברך הזבח אחרי כן יאכלו הקראים ועתה עלו כי אתו כהיום תמצאון אתו ‬ (Ⅴ)

9. 14

And they went up into the city: and when they were come into the city, behold, Samuel came out against them, for to go up to the high place.

- Et ils montèrent à la ville. Ils étaient arrivés au milieu de la ville, quand ils furent rencontrés par Samuel qui sortait pour monter au haut lieu. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀναβαίνουσιν τὴν πόλιν αὐτω̃ν εἰσπορευομένων εἰς μέσον τη̃ς πόλεως καὶ ἰδοὺ Σαμουηλ ἐξη̃λθεν εἰς ἀπάντησιν αὐτω̃ν του̃ ἀναβη̃ναι εἰς Βαμα (Ⅲ)

- Et ascenderunt in civitatem. Cumque illi ambularent in medio urbis, apparuit Samuel egrediens obviam eis, ut ascenderet in excelsum. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 14 ׃9 ויעלו העיר המה באים בתוך העיר והנה שמואל יצא לקראתם לעלות הבמה ס‬ (Ⅴ)

9. 15

Now the LORD had told Samuel in his ear a day before Saul came, saying,

- Or, un jour avant l'arrivée de Saül, l'Éternel avait averti Samuel, en disant: (Ⅱ)

- καὶ κύριος ἀπεκάλυψεν τὸ ὠτίον Σαμουηλ ἡμέρα̨ μια̨̃ ἔμπροσθεν του̃ ἐλθει̃ν πρὸς αὐτὸν Σαουλ λέγων (Ⅲ)

- Dominus autem revelaverat auriculam Samuelis ante unam diem quam veniret Saul, dicens : (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 15 ׃9 ויהוה גלה את אזן שמואל יום אחד לפני בוא שאול לאמר ‬ (Ⅴ)

9. 16

To morrow about this time I will send thee a man out of the land of Benjamin, and thou shalt anoint him to be captain over my people Israel, that he may save my people out of the hand of the Philistines: for I have looked upon my people, because their cry is come unto me.

- Demain, à cette heure, je t'enverrai un homme du pays de Benjamin, et tu l'oindras pour chef de mon peuple d'Israël. Il sauvera mon peuple de la main des Philistins; car j'ai regardé mon peuple, parce que son cri est venu jusqu'à moi. (Ⅱ)

- ὡς ὁ καιρὸς αὔριον ἀποστελω̃ πρὸς σὲ ἄνδρα ἐκ γη̃ς Βενιαμιν καὶ χρίσεις αὐτὸν εἰς ἄρχοντα ἐπὶ τὸν λαόν μου Ισραηλ καὶ σώσει τὸν λαόν μου ἐκ χειρὸς ἀλλοφύλων ὅτι ἐπέβλεψα ἐπὶ τὴν ταπείνωσιν του̃ λαου̃ μου ὅτι ἠ̃λθεν βοὴ αὐτω̃ν πρός με (Ⅲ)

- Hac ipsa hora quæ nunc est, cras mittam virum ad te de terra Benjamin, et unges eum ducem super populum meum Israël : et salvabit populum meum de manu Philisthinorum, quia respexi populum meum : venit enim clamor eorum ad me. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 16 ׃9 כעת מחר אשלח אליך איש מארץ בנימן ומשחתו לנגיד על עמי ישראל והושיע את עמי מיד פלשתים כי ראיתי את עמי כי באה צעקתו אלי ‬ (Ⅴ)

9. 17

And when Samuel saw Saul, the LORD said unto him, Behold the man whom I spake to thee of! this same shall reign over my people.

- Lorsque Samuel eut aperçu Saül, l'Éternel lui dit: Voici l'homme dont je t'ai parlé; c'est lui qui régnera sur mon peuple. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ Σαμουηλ εἰ̃δεν τὸν Σαουλ καὶ κύριος ἀπεκρίθη αὐτω̨̃ ἰδοὺ ὁ ἄνθρωπος ὃν εἰ̃πά σοι οὑ̃τος ἄρξει ἐν τω̨̃ λαω̨̃ μου (Ⅲ)

- Cumque aspexisset Samuel Saulem, Dominus dixit ei : Ecce vir quem dixeram tibi : iste dominabitur populo meo. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 17 ׃9 ושמואל ראה את שאול ויהוה ענהו הנה האיש אשר אמרתי אליך זה יעצר בעמי ‬ (Ⅴ)

9. 18

Then Saul drew near to Samuel in the gate, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, where the seer's house is.

- Saül s'approcha de Samuel au milieu de la porte, et dit: Indique-moi, je te prie, où est la maison du voyant. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ προσήγαγεν Σαουλ πρὸς Σαμουηλ εἰς μέσον τη̃ς πόλεως καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἀπάγγειλον δὴ ποι̃ος ὁ οἰ̃κος του̃ βλέποντος (Ⅲ)

- Accessit autem Saul ad Samuelem in medio portæ, et ait : Indica, oro, mihi, ubi est domus videntis. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 18 ׃9 ויגש שאול את שמואל בתוך השער ויאמר הגידה נא לי אי זה בית הראה ‬ (Ⅴ)

9. 19

And Samuel answered Saul, and said, I am the seer: go up before me unto the high place; for ye shall eat with me to day, and to morrow I will let thee go, and will tell thee all that is in thine heart.

- Samuel répondit à Saül: C'est moi qui suis le voyant. Monte devant moi au haut lieu, et vous mangerez aujourd'hui avec moi. Je te laisserai partir demain, et je te dirai tout ce qui se passe dans ton coeur. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀπεκρίθη Σαμουηλ τω̨̃ Σαουλ καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἐγώ εἰμι αὐτός ἀνάβηθι ἔμπροσθέν μου εἰς Βαμα καὶ φάγε μετ' ἐμου̃ σήμερον καὶ ἐξαποστελω̃ σε πρωὶ καὶ πάντα τὰ ἐν τη̨̃ καρδία̨ σου ἀπαγγελω̃ σοι (Ⅲ)

- Et respondit Samuel Sauli, dicens : Ego sum videns : ascende ante me in excelsum, ut comedatis mecum hodie, et dimittam te mane : et omnia quæ sunt in corde tuo indicabo tibi. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 19 ׃9 ויען שמואל את שאול ויאמר אנכי הראה עלה לפני הבמה ואכלתם עמי היום ושלחתיך בבקר וכל אשר בלבבך אגיד לך ‬ (Ⅴ)

9. 20

And as for thine asses that were lost three days ago, set not thy mind on them; for they are found. And on whom is all the desire of Israel? Is it not on thee, and on all thy father's house?

- Ne t'inquiètes pas des ânesses que tu as perdues il y a trois jours, car elles sont retrouvées. Et pour qui est réservé tout ce qu'il y a de précieux en Israël? N'est-ce pas pour toi et pour toute la maison de ton père? (Ⅱ)

- καὶ περὶ τω̃ν ὄνων σου τω̃ν ἀπολωλυιω̃ν σήμερον τριταίων μὴ θη̨̃ς τὴν καρδίαν σου αὐται̃ς ὅτι εὕρηνται καὶ τίνι τὰ ὡραι̃α του̃ Ισραηλ οὐ σοὶ καὶ τω̨̃ οἴκω̨ του̃ πατρός σου (Ⅲ)

- Et de asinis quas nudiustertius perdidisti, ne sollicitus sis, quia inventæ sunt. Et cujus erunt optima quæque Israël ? nonne tibi et omni domui patris tui ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 20 ׃9 ולאתנות האבדות לך היום שלשת הימים אל תשם את לבך להם כי נמצאו ולמי כל חמדת ישראל הלוא לך ולכל בית אביך ס‬ (Ⅴ)

9. 21

And Saul answered and said, Am not I a Benjamite, of the smallest of the tribes of Israel? and my family the least of all the families of the tribe of Benjamin? wherefore then speakest thou so to me?

- Saül répondit: Ne suis-je pas Benjamite, de l'une des plus petites tribus d'Israël? et ma famille n'est-elle pas la moindre de toutes les familles de la tribu de Benjamin? Pourquoi donc me parles-tu de la sorte? (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἀπεκρίθη Σαουλ καὶ εἰ̃πεν οὐχὶ ἀνδρὸς υἱὸς Ιεμιναίου ἐγώ εἰμι του̃ μικρου̃ σκήπτρου φυλη̃ς Ισραηλ καὶ τη̃ς φυλη̃ς τη̃ς ἐλαχίστης ἐξ ὅλου σκήπτρου Βενιαμιν καὶ ἵνα τί ἐλάλησας πρὸς ἐμὲ κατὰ τὸ ῥη̃μα του̃το (Ⅲ)

- Respondens autem Saul, ait : Numquid non filius Jemini ego sum de minima tribu Israël, et cognatio mea novissima inter omnes familias de tribu Benjamin ? quare ergo locutus es mihi sermonem istum ? (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 21 ׃9 ויען שאול ויאמר הלוא בן ימיני אנכי מקטני‪[1]‬ שבטי ישראל ומשפחתי הצערה מכל משפחות שבטי בנימן ולמה דברת אלי כדבר הזה ס‬ (Ⅴ)

9. 22

And Samuel took Saul and his servant, and brought them into the parlor, and made them sit in the chiefest place among them that were bidden, which were about thirty persons.

- Samuel prit Saül et son serviteur, les fit entrer dans la salle, et leur donna une place à la tête des conviés, qui étaient environ trente hommes. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἔλαβεν Σαμουηλ τὸν Σαουλ καὶ τὸ παιδάριον αὐτου̃ καὶ εἰσήγαγεν αὐτοὺς εἰς τὸ κατάλυμα καὶ ἔθετο αὐτοι̃ς τόπον ἐν πρώτοις τω̃ν κεκλημένων ὡσεὶ ἑβδομήκοντα ἀνδρω̃ν (Ⅲ)

- Assumens itaque Samuel Saulem et puerum ejus, introduxit eos in triclinium, et dedit eis locum in capite eorum qui fuerant invitati : erant enim quasi triginta viri. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 22 ׃9 ויקח שמואל את שאול ואת נערו ויביאם לשכתה ויתן להם מקום בראש הקרואים והמה כשלשים איש ‬ (Ⅴ)

9. 23

And Samuel said unto the cook, Bring the portion which I gave thee, of which I said unto thee, Set it by thee.

- Samuel dit au cuisinier: Sers la portion que je t'ai donnée, en te disant: Mets-la à part. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Σαμουηλ τω̨̃ μαγείρω̨ δός μοι τὴν μερίδα ἣν ἔδωκά σοι ἣν εἰ̃πά σοι θει̃ναι αὐτὴν παρὰ σοί (Ⅲ)

- Dixitque Samuel coco : Da partem quam dedi tibi, et præcepi ut reponeres seorsum apud te. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 23 ׃9 ויאמר שמואל לטבח תנה את המנה אשר נתתי לך אשר אמרתי אליך שים אתה עמך ‬ (Ⅴ)

9. 24

And the cook took up the shoulder, and that which was upon it, and set it before Saul. And Samuel said, Behold that which is left! set it before thee, and eat: for unto this time hath it been kept for thee since I said, I have invited the people. So Saul did eat with Samuel that day.

- Le cuisinier donna l'épaule et ce qui l'entoure, et il la servit à Saül. Et Samuel dit: Voici ce qui a été réservé; mets-le devant toi, et mange, car on l'a gardé pour toi lorsque j'ai convié le peuple. Ainsi Saül mangea avec Samuel ce jour-là. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ὕψωσεν ὁ μάγειρος τὴν κωλέαν καὶ παρέθηκεν αὐτὴν ἐνώπιον Σαουλ καὶ εἰ̃πεν Σαμουηλ τω̨̃ Σαουλ ἰδοὺ ὑπόλειμμα παράθες αὐτὸ ἐνώπιόν σου καὶ φάγε ὅτι εἰς μαρτύριον τέθειταί σοι παρὰ τοὺς ἄλλους ἀπόκνιζε καὶ ἔφαγεν Σαουλ μετὰ Σαμουηλ ἐν τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ ἐκείνη̨ (Ⅲ)

- Levavit autem cocus armum, et posuit ante Saul. Dixitque Samuel : Ecce quod remansit : pone ante te, et comede, quia de industria servatum est tibi quando populum vocavi. Et comedit Saul cum Samuele in die illa. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 24 ׃9 וירם הטבח את השוק והעליה וישם לפני שאול ויאמר הנה הנשאר שים לפניך אכל כי למועד שמור לך לאמר העם קראתי ויאכל שאול עם שמואל ביום ההוא ‬ (Ⅴ)

9. 25

And when they were come down from the high place into the city, Samuel communed with Saul upon the top of the house.

- Ils descendirent du haut lieu à la ville, et Samuel s'entretint avec Saül sur le toit. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ κατέβη ἐκ τη̃ς Βαμα ἐν τη̨̃ πόλει καὶ διέστρωσαν τω̨̃ Σαουλ ἐπὶ τω̨̃ δώματι (Ⅲ)

- Et descenderunt de excelso in oppidum, et locutus est cum Saule in solario : stravitque Saul in solario, et dormivit.\ (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 25 ׃9 וירדו מהבמה העיר וידבר עם שאול על הגג ‬ (Ⅴ)

9. 26

And they arose early: and it came to pass about the spring of the day, that Samuel called Saul to the top of the house, saying, Up, that I may send thee away. And Saul arose, and they went out both of them, he and Samuel, abroad.

- Puis ils se levèrent de bon matin; et, dès l'aurore, Samuel appela Saül sur le toit, et dit: Viens, et je te laisserai partir. Saül se leva, et ils sortirent tous deux, lui et Samuel. (Ⅱ)

- καὶ ἐκοιμήθη καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς ἀνέβαινεν ὁ ὄρθρος καὶ ἐκάλεσεν Σαμουηλ τὸν Σαουλ ἐπὶ τω̨̃ δώματι λέγων ἀνάστα καὶ ἐξαποστελω̃ σε καὶ ἀνέστη Σαουλ καὶ ἐξη̃λθεν αὐτὸς καὶ Σαμουηλ ἕως ἔξω (Ⅲ)

- Cumque mane surrexissent, et jam elucesceret, vocavit Samuel Saulem in solario, dicens : Surge, et dimittam te. Et surrexit Saul : egressique sunt ambo, ipse videlicet, et Samuel. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 26 ׃9 וישכמו ויהי כעלות השחר ויקרא שמואל אל שאול *הגג **הגגה לאמר קומה ואשלחך ויקם שאול ויצאו שניהם הוא ושמואל החוצה ‬ (Ⅴ)

9. 27

And as they were going down to the end of the city, Samuel said to Saul, Bid the servant pass on before us, (and he passed on), but stand thou still a while, that I may show thee the word of God.

- Quand ils furent descendus à l'extrémité de la ville, Samuel dit à Saül: Dis à ton serviteur de passer devant nous. Et le serviteur passa devant. Arrête-toi maintenant, reprit Samuel, et je te ferai entendre la parole de Dieu. (Ⅱ)

- αὐτω̃ν καταβαινόντων εἰς μέρος τη̃ς πόλεως καὶ Σαμουηλ εἰ̃πεν τω̨̃ Σαουλ εἰπὸν τω̨̃ νεανίσκω̨ καὶ διελθέτω ἔμπροσθεν ἡμω̃ν καὶ σὺ στη̃θι ὡς σήμερον καὶ ἄκουσον ῥη̃μα θεου̃ (Ⅲ)

- Cumque descenderent in extrema parte civitatis, Samuel dixit ad Saul : Dic puero ut antecedat nos et transeat : tu autem subsiste paulisper, ut indicem tibi verbum Domini. (Ⅳ)

- ‫ 27 ׃9 המה יורדים בקצה העיר ושמואל אמר אל שאול אמר לנער ויעבר לפנינו ויעבר ואתה עמד כיום ואשמיעך את דבר אלהים פ‬ (Ⅴ)
