And David fled from Naioth in Ramah, and came and said before Jonathan, What have I done? what is mine iniquity? and what is my sin before thy father, that he seeketh my life?
- David s'enfuit de Najoth, près de Rama. Il alla trouver Jonathan, et dit: Qu'ai-je fait? quel est mon crime, quel est mon péché aux yeux de ton père, pour qu'il en veuille à ma vie? (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀπέδρα Δαυιδ ἐκ Ναυαθ ἐν Ραμα καὶ ἔρχεται ἐνώπιον Ιωναθαν καὶ εἰ̃πεν τί πεποίηκα καὶ τί τὸ ἀδίκημά μου καὶ τί ἡμάρτηκα ἐνώπιον του̃ πατρός σου ὅτι ἐπιζητει̃ τὴν ψυχήν μου (Ⅲ) - Fugit autem David de Najoth, quæ est in Ramatha, veniensque locutus est coram Jonatha : Quid feci ? quæ est iniquitas mea, et quod peccatum meum in patrem tuum, quia quærit animam meam ? (Ⅳ) - 1 ׃20 ויברח דוד *מנוות **מניות ברמה ויבא ויאמר לפני יהונתן מה עשיתי מה עוני ומה חטאתי לפני אביך כי מבקש את נפשי (Ⅴ)

And he said unto him, God forbid; thou shalt not die: behold, my father will do nothing either great or small, but that he will show it me: and why should my father hide this thing from me? it is not so.
- Jonathan lui répondit: Loin de là! tu ne mourras point. Mon père ne fait aucune chose, grande ou petite, sans m'en informer; pourquoi donc mon père me cacherait-il celle-là? Il n'en est rien. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν αὐτω̨̃ Ιωναθαν μηδαμω̃ς σοι οὐ μὴ ἀποθάνη̨ς ἰδοὺ οὐ μὴ ποιήση̨ ὁ πατήρ μου ῥη̃μα μέγα ἢ μικρὸν καὶ οὐκ ἀποκαλύψει τὸ ὠτίον μου καὶ τί ὅτι κρύψει ὁ πατήρ μου τὸ ῥη̃μα του̃το οὐκ ἔστιν του̃το (Ⅲ) - Qui dixit ei : Absit, non morieris : neque enim faciet pater meus quidquam grande vel parvum, nisi prius indicaverit mihi : hunc ergo celavit me pater meus sermonem tantummodo ? nequaquam erit istud. (Ⅳ) - 2 ׃20 ויאמר לו חלילה לא תמות הנה *לו *עשה **לא **יעשה אבי דבר גדול או דבר קטן ולא יגלה את אזני ומדוע יסתיר אבי ממני את הדבר הזה אין זאת (Ⅴ)

And David sware moreover, and said, Thy father certainly knoweth that I have found grace in thine eyes; and he saith, Let not Jonathan know this, lest he be grieved: but truly as the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, there is but a step between me and death.
- David dit encore, en jurant: Ton père sait bien que j'ai trouvé grâce à tes yeux, et il aura dit: Que Jonathan ne le sache pas; cela lui ferait de la peine. Mais l'Éternel est vivant et ton âme est vivante! il n'y a qu'un pas entre moi et la mort. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀπεκρίθη Δαυιδ τω̨̃ Ιωναθαν καὶ εἰ̃πεν γινώσκων οἰ̃δεν ὁ πατήρ σου ὅτι εὕρηκα χάριν ἐν ὀφθαλμοι̃ς σου καὶ εἰ̃πεν μὴ γνώτω του̃το Ιωναθαν μὴ οὐ βούληται ἀλλὰ ζη̨̃ κύριος καὶ ζη̨̃ ἡ ψυχή σου ὅτι καθὼς εἰ̃πον ἐμπέπλησται ἀνὰ μέσον μου καὶ του̃ θανάτου (Ⅲ) - Et juravit rursum Davidi. Et ille ait : Scit profecto pater tuus quia inveni gratiam in oculis tuis, et dicet : Nesciat hoc Jonathas, ne forte tristetur. Quinimmo vivit Dominus, et vivit anima tua, quia uno tantum (ut ita dicam) gradu ego morsque dividimur. (Ⅳ) - 3 ׃20 וישבע עוד דוד ויאמר ידע ידע אביך כי מצאתי חן בעיניך ויאמר אל ידע זאת יהונתן פן יעצב ואולם חי יהוה וחי נפשך כי כפשע ביני ובין המות (Ⅴ)

Then said Jonathan unto David, Whatsoever thy soul desireth, I will even do it for thee.
- Jonathan dit à David: Je ferai pour toi ce que tu voudras. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν Ιωναθαν πρὸς Δαυιδ τί ἐπιθυμει̃ ἡ ψυχή σου καὶ τί ποιήσω σοι (Ⅲ) - Et ait Jonathas ad David : Quodcumque dixerit mihi anima tua, faciam tibi. (Ⅳ) - 4 ׃20 ויאמר יהונתן אל דוד מה תאמר נפשך ואעשה לך פ (Ⅴ)

And David said unto Jonathan, Behold, to morrow is the new moon, and I should not fail to sit with the king at meat: but let me go, that I may hide myself in the field unto the third day at even.
- Et David lui répondit: Voici, c'est demain la nouvelle lune, et je devrais m'asseoir avec le roi pour manger; laisse-moi aller, et je me cacherai dans les champs jusqu'au soir du troisième jour. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν Δαυιδ πρὸς Ιωναθαν ἰδοὺ δὴ νεομηνία αὔριον καὶ ἐγὼ καθίσας οὐ καθήσομαι μετὰ του̃ βασιλέως φαγει̃ν καὶ ἐξαποστελει̃ς με καὶ κρυβήσομαι ἐν τω̨̃ πεδίω̨ ἕως δείλης (Ⅲ) - Dixit autem David ad Jonathan : Ecce calendæ sunt crastino, et ego ex more sedere soleo juxta regem ad vescendum : dimitte ergo me ut abscondar in agro usque ad vesperam diei tertiæ. (Ⅳ) - 5 ׃20 ויאמר דוד אל יהונתן הנה חדש מחר ואנכי ישב אשב עם המלך לאכול ושלחתני ונסתרתי בשדה עד הערב השלשית (Ⅴ)

If thy father at all miss me, then say, David earnestly asked leave of me that he might run to Bethlehem his city: for there is a yearly sacrifice there for all the family.
- Si ton père remarque mon absence, tu diras: David m'a prié de lui laisser faire une course à Bethléhem, sa ville, parce qu'il y a pour toute la famille un sacrifice annuel. (Ⅱ) - ἐὰν ἐπισκεπτόμενος ἐπισκέψηταί με ὁ πατήρ σου καὶ ἐρει̃ς παραιτούμενος παρη̨τήσατο ἀπ' ἐμου̃ Δαυιδ δραμει̃ν ἕως εἰς Βηθλεεμ τὴν πόλιν αὐτου̃ ὅτι θυσία τω̃ν ἡμερω̃ν ἐκει̃ ὅλη̨ τη̨̃ φυλη̨̃ (Ⅲ) - Si respiciens requisierit me pater tuus, respondebis ei : Rogavit me David ut iret celeriter in Bethlehem civitatem suam, quia victimæ solemnes ibi sunt universis contribulibus suis. (Ⅳ) - 6 ׃20 אם פקד יפקדני אביך ואמרת נשאל נשאל ממני דוד לרוץ בית לחם עירו כי זבח הימים שם לכל המשפחה (Ⅴ)

If he say thus, It is well; thy servant shall have peace: but if he be very wroth, then be sure that evil is determined by him.
- Et s'il dit: C'est bien! ton serviteur alors n'a rien à craindre; mais si la colère s'empare de lui, sache que le mal est résolu de sa part. (Ⅱ) - ἐὰν τάδε εἴπη̨ ἀγαθω̃ς εἰρήνη τω̨̃ δούλω̨ σου καὶ ἐὰν σκληρω̃ς ἀποκριθη̨̃ σοι γνω̃θι ὅτι συντετέλεσται ἡ κακία παρ' αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - Si dixerit : Bene : pax erit servo tuo. Si autem fuerit iratus, scito quia completa est malitia ejus. (Ⅳ) - 7 ׃20 אם כה יאמר טוב שלום לעבדך ואם חרה יחרה לו דע כי כלתה הרעה מעמו (Ⅴ)

Therefore thou shalt deal kindly with thy servant; for thou hast brought thy servant into a covenant of the LORD with thee: notwithstanding, if there be in me iniquity, slay me thyself; for why shouldest thou bring me to thy father?
- Montre donc ton affection pour ton serviteur, puisque tu as fait avec ton serviteur une alliance devant l'Éternel. Et, s'il y a quelque crime en moi, ôte-moi la vie toi-même, car pourquoi me mènerais-tu jusqu'à ton père? (Ⅱ) - καὶ ποιήσεις ἔλεος μετὰ του̃ δούλου σου ὅτι εἰσήγαγες εἰς διαθήκην κυρίου τὸν δου̃λόν σου μετὰ σεαυτου̃ καὶ εἰ ἔστιν ἀδικία ἐν τω̨̃ δούλω̨ σου θανάτωσόν με σύ καὶ ἕως του̃ πατρός σου ἵνα τί οὕτως εἰσάγεις με (Ⅲ) - Fac ergo misericordiam in servum tuum, quia fœdus Domini me famulum tuum tecum inire fecisti : si autem est iniquitas aliqua in me, tu me interfice, et ad patrem tuum ne introducas me. (Ⅳ) - 8 ׃20 ועשית חסד על עבדך כי בברית יהוה הבאת את עבדך עמך ואם יש בי עון המיתני אתה ועד אביך למה זה תביאני פ (Ⅴ)

And Jonathan said, Far be it from thee: for if I knew certainly that evil were determined by my father to come upon thee, then would not I tell it thee?
- Jonathan lui dit: Loin de toi la pensée que je ne t'informerai pas, si j'apprends que le mal est résolu de la part de mon père et menace de t'atteindre! (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν Ιωναθαν μηδαμω̃ς σοι ὅτι ἐὰν γινώσκων γνω̃ ὅτι συντετέλεσται ἡ κακία παρὰ του̃ πατρός μου του̃ ἐλθει̃ν ἐπὶ σέ καὶ ἐὰν μή εἰς τὰς πόλεις σου ἐγὼ ἀπαγγελω̃ σοι (Ⅲ) - Et ait Jonathas : Absit hoc a te : neque enim fieri potest, ut si certe cognovero completam esse patris mei malitiam contra te, non annuntiem tibi. (Ⅳ) - 9 ׃20 ויאמר יהונתן חלילה לך כי אם ידע אדע כי כלתה הרעה מעם אבי לבוא עליך ולא אתה אגיד לך ס (Ⅴ)

Then said David to Jonathan, Who shall tell me? or what if thy father answer thee roughly?
- David dit à Jonathan: Qui m'informera dans le cas où ton père te répondrait durement? (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν Δαυιδ πρὸς Ιωναθαν τίς ἀπαγγελει̃ μοι ἐὰν ἀποκριθη̨̃ ὁ πατήρ σου σκληρω̃ς (Ⅲ) - Responditque David ad Jonathan : Quis renuntiabit mihi, si quid forte responderit tibi pater tuus dure de me ?\ (Ⅳ) - 10 ׃20 ויאמר דוד אל יהונתן מי יגיד לי או מה יענך אביך קשה ס (Ⅴ)

And Jonathan said unto David, Come, and let us go out into the field. And they went out both of them into the field.
- Et Jonathan dit à David: Viens, sortons dans les champs. Et ils sortirent tous deux dans les champs. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν Ιωναθαν πρὸς Δαυιδ πορεύου καὶ μένε εἰς ἀγρόν καὶ ἐκπορεύονται ἀμφότεροι εἰς ἀγρόν (Ⅲ) - Et ait Jonathas ad David : Veni, et egrediamur foras in agrum. Cumque exissent ambo in agrum, (Ⅳ) - 11 ׃20 ויאמר יהונתן אל דוד לכה ונצא השדה ויצאו שניהם השדה ס (Ⅴ)

And Jonathan said unto David, O LORD God of Israel, when I have sounded my father about to morrow any time, or the third day, and, behold, if there be good toward David, and I then send not unto thee, and show it thee;
- Jonathan dit à David: Je prends à témoin l'Éternel, le Dieu d'Israël! Je sonderai mon père demain ou après-demain; et, dans le cas où il serait bien disposé pour David, si je n'envoie vers toi personne pour t'en informer, (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν Ιωναθαν πρὸς Δαυιδ κύριος ὁ θεὸς Ισραηλ οἰ̃δεν ὅτι ἀνακρινω̃ τὸν πατέρα μου ὡς ἂν ὁ καιρὸς τρισσω̃ς καὶ ἰδοὺ ἀγαθὸν ἠ̨̃ περὶ Δαυιδ καὶ οὐ μὴ ἀποστείλω πρὸς σὲ εἰς ἀγρόν (Ⅲ) - ait Jonathas ad David : Domine Deus Israël, si investigavero sententiam patris mei crastino vel perendie, et aliquid boni fuerit super David, et non statim misero ad te, et notum tibi fecero, (Ⅳ) - 12 ׃20 ויאמר יהונתן אל דוד יהוה אלהי ישראל כי אחקר את אבי כעת מחר השלשית והנה טוב אל דוד ולא אז אשלח אליך וגליתי את אזנך (Ⅴ)

The LORD do so and much more to Jonathan: but if it please my father to do thee evil, then I will show it thee, and send thee away, that thou mayest go in peace: and the LORD be with thee, as he hath been with my father.
- que l'Éternel traite Jonathan dans toute sa rigueur! Dans le cas où mon père trouverait bon de te faire du mal, je t'informerai aussi et je te laisserai partir, afin que tu t'en ailles en paix; et que l'Éternel soit avec toi, comme il a été avec mon père! (Ⅱ) - τάδε ποιήσαι ὁ θεὸς τω̨̃ Ιωναθαν καὶ τάδε προσθείη ὅτι ἀνοίσω τὰ κακὰ ἐπὶ σὲ καὶ ἀποκαλύψω τὸ ὠτίον σου καὶ ἐξαποστελω̃ σε καὶ ἀπελεύση̨ εἰς εἰρήνην καὶ ἔσται κύριος μετὰ σου̃ καθὼς ἠ̃ν μετὰ του̃ πατρός μου (Ⅲ) - hæc faciat Dominus Jonathæ, et hæc addat. Si autem perseveraverit patris mei malitia adversum te, revelabo aurem tuam, et dimittam te, ut vadas in pace, et sit Dominus tecum, sicut fuit cum patre meo. (Ⅳ) - 13 ׃20 כה יעשה יהוה ליהונתן וכה יסיף כי ייטב אל אבי את הרעה עליך וגליתי את אזנך ושלחתיך והלכת לשלום ויהי יהוה עמך כאשר היה עם אבי (Ⅴ)

And thou shalt not only while yet I live show me the kindness of the LORD, that I die not:
- Si je dois vivre encore, veuille user envers moi de la bonté de l'Éternel; (Ⅱ) - καὶ μὲν ἔτι μου ζω̃ντος καὶ ποιήσεις ἔλεος μετ' ἐμου̃ καὶ ἐὰν θανάτω̨ ἀποθάνω (Ⅲ) - Et si vixero, facies mihi misericordiam Domini : si vero mortuus fuero, (Ⅳ) - 14 ׃20 ולא אם עודני חי ולא תעשה עמדי חסד יהוה ולא אמות (Ⅴ)

But also thou shalt not cut off thy kindness from my house for ever: no, not when the LORD hath cut off the enemies of David every one from the face of the earth.
- et si je meurs, ne retire jamais ta bonté envers ma maison, pas même lorsque l'Éternel retranchera chacun des ennemis de David de dessus la face de la terre. (Ⅱ) - οὐκ ἐξαρει̃ς ἔλεός σου ἀπὸ του̃ οἴκου μου ἕως του̃ αἰω̃νος καὶ εἰ μὴ ἐν τω̨̃ ἐξαίρειν κύριον τοὺς ἐχθροὺς Δαυιδ ἕκαστον ἀπὸ προσώπου τη̃ς γη̃ς (Ⅲ) - non auferes misericordiam tuam a domo mea usque in sempiternum, quando eradicaverit Dominus inimicos David, unumquemque de terra : auferat Jonathan de domo sua, et requirat Dominus de manu inimicorum David. (Ⅳ) - 15 ׃20 ולא תכרת את חסדך מעם ביתי עד עולם ולא בהכרת יהוה את איבי דוד איש מעל פני האדמה (Ⅴ)

So Jonathan made a covenant with the house of David, saying, Let the LORD even require it at the hand of David's enemies.
- Car Jonathan a fait alliance avec la maison de David. Que l'Éternel tire vengeance des ennemis de David! (Ⅱ) - ἐξαρθη̃ναι τὸ ὄνομα του̃ Ιωναθαν ἀπὸ του̃ οἴκου Δαυιδ καὶ ἐκζητήσαι κύριος ἐχθροὺς του̃ Δαυιδ (Ⅲ) - Pepigit ergo Jonathas fœdus cum domo David : et requisivit Dominus de manu inimicorum David. (Ⅳ) - 16 ׃20 ויכרת יהונתן עם בית דוד ובקש יהוה מיד איבי דוד (Ⅴ)

And Jonathan caused David to swear again, because he loved him: for he loved him as he loved his own soul.
- Jonathan protesta encore auprès de David de son affection pour lui, car il l'aimait comme son âme. (Ⅱ) - καὶ προσέθετο ἔτι Ιωναθαν ὀμόσαι τω̨̃ Δαυιδ ὅτι ἠγάπησεν ψυχὴν ἀγαπω̃ντος αὐτόν (Ⅲ) - Et addidit Jonathas dejerare David, eo quod diligeret illum : sicut enim animam suam, ita diligebat eum. (Ⅳ) - 17 ׃20 ויוסף יהונתן להשביע את דוד באהבתו אתו כי אהבת נפשו אהבו ס (Ⅴ)

Then Jonathan said to David, To morrow is the new moon: and thou shalt be missed, because thy seat will be empty.
- Jonathan lui dit: C'est demain la nouvelle lune; on remarquera ton absence, car ta place sera vide. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν Ιωναθαν αὔριον νουμηνία καὶ ἐπισκεπήση̨ ὅτι ἐπισκεπήσεται καθέδρα σου (Ⅲ) - Dixitque ad eum Jonathas : Cras calendæ sunt, et requireris : (Ⅳ) - 18 ׃20 ויאמר לו יהונתן מחר חדש ונפקדת כי יפקד מושבך (Ⅴ)

And when thou hast stayed three days, then thou shalt go down quickly, and come to the place where thou didst hide thyself when the business was in hand, and shalt remain by the stone Ezel.
- Tu descendras le troisième jour jusqu'au fond du lieu où tu t'étais caché le jour de l'affaire, et tu resteras près de la pierre d'Ézel. (Ⅱ) - καὶ τρισσεύσεις καὶ ἐπισκέψη̨ καὶ ἥξεις εἰς τὸν τόπον σου οὑ̃ ἐκρύβης ἐν τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ τη̨̃ ἐργασίμη̨ καὶ καθήση̨ παρὰ τὸ εργαβ ἐκει̃νο (Ⅲ) - requiretur enim sessio tua usque perendie. Descendes ergo festinus, et venies in locum ubi celandus es in die qua operari licet, et sedebis juxta lapidem cui nomen est Ezel. (Ⅳ) - 19 ׃20 ושלשת תרד מאד ובאת אל המקום אשר נסתרת שם ביום המעשה וישבת אצל האבן האזל (Ⅴ)

And I will shoot three arrows on the side thereof, as though I shot at a mark.
- Je tirerai trois flèches du côté de la pierre, comme si je visais un but. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐγὼ τρισσεύσω ται̃ς σχίζαις ἀκοντίζων ἐκπέμπων εἰς τὴν αματταρι (Ⅲ) - Et ego tres sagittas mittam juxta eum, et jaciam quasi exercens me ad signum. (Ⅳ) - 20 ׃20 ואני שלשת החצים צדה אורה לשלח לי למטרה (Ⅴ)

And, behold, I will send a lad, saying, Go, find out the arrows. If I expressly say unto the lad, Behold, the arrows are on this side of thee, take them; then come thou: for there is peace to thee, and no hurt; as the LORD liveth.
- Et voici, j'enverrai un jeune homme, et je lui dirai: Va, trouve les flèches. Si je lui dis: Voici, les flèches sont en deçà de toi, prends-les! alors viens, car il y a paix pour toi, et tu n'as rien à craindre, l'Éternel est vivant! (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἰδοὺ ἀποστελω̃ τὸ παιδάριον λέγων δευ̃ρο εὑρέ μοι τὴν σχίζαν ἐὰν εἴπω λέγων τω̨̃ παιδαρίω̨ ὡ̃δε ἡ σχίζα ἀπὸ σου̃ καὶ ὡ̃δε λαβὲ αὐτήν παραγίνου ὅτι εἰρήνη σοι καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν λόγος ζη̨̃ κύριος (Ⅲ) - Mittam quoque et puerum, dicens ei : Vade, et affer mihi sagittas. (Ⅳ) - 21 ׃20 והנה אשלח את הנער לך מצא את החצים אם אמר אמר לנער הנה החצים ממך והנה קחנו ובאה כי שלום לך ואין דבר חי יהוה (Ⅴ)

But if I say thus unto the young man, Behold, the arrows are beyond thee; go thy way: for the LORD hath sent thee away.
- Mais si je dis au jeune homme: Voici, les flèches sont au delà de toi! alors va-t-en, car l'Éternel te renvoie. (Ⅱ) - ἐὰν τάδε εἴπω τω̨̃ νεανίσκω̨ ὡ̃δε ἡ σχίζα ἀπὸ σου̃ καὶ ἐπέκεινα πορεύου ὅτι ἐξαπέσταλκέν σε κύριος (Ⅲ) - Si dixero puero : Ecce sagittæ intra te sunt, tolle eas : tu veni ad me, quia pax tibi est, et nihil est mali, vivit Dominus. Si autem sic locutus fuero puero : Ecce sagittæ ultra te sunt : vade in pace, quia dimisit te Dominus. (Ⅳ) - 22 ׃20 ואם כה אמר לעלם הנה החצים ממך והלאה לך כי שלחך יהוה (Ⅴ)

And as touching the matter which thou and I have spoken of, behold, the LORD be between thee and me for ever.
- L'Éternel est à jamais témoin de la parole que nous nous sommes donnée l'un à l'autre. (Ⅱ) - καὶ τὸ ῥη̃μα ὃ ἐλαλήσαμεν ἐγὼ καὶ σύ ἰδοὺ κύριος μάρτυς ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμου̃ καὶ σου̃ ἕως αἰω̃νος (Ⅲ) - De verbo autem quod locuti sumus ego et tu, sit Dominus inter me et te usque in sempiternum.\ (Ⅳ) - 23 ׃20 והדבר אשר דברנו אני ואתה הנה יהוה ביני ובינך עד עולם ס (Ⅴ)

So David hid himself in the field: and when the new moon was come, the king sat him down to eat meat.
- David se cacha dans les champs. C'était la nouvelle lune, et le roi prit place au festin pour manger. And the king sat upon his seat, as at other times, even upon a seat by the wall: and Jonathan arose, and Abner sat by Saul's side, and David's place was empty.
- Le roi s'assit comme à l'ordinaire sur son siège contre la paroi, Jonathan se leva, et Abner s'assit à côté de Saül; mais la place de David resta vide. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐκάθισεν ὁ βασιλεὺς ἐπὶ τὴν καθέδραν αὐτου̃ ὡς ἅπαξ καὶ ἅπαξ ἐπὶ τη̃ς καθέδρας παρὰ τοι̃χον καὶ προέφθασεν τὸν Ιωναθαν καὶ ἐκάθισεν Αβεννηρ ἐκ πλαγίων Σαουλ καὶ ἐπεσκέπη ὁ τόπος Δαυιδ (Ⅲ) - Cumque sedisset rex super cathedram suam (secundum consuetudinem) quæ erat juxta parietem, surrexit Jonathas, et sedit Abner ex latere Saul : vacuusque apparuit locus David. Nevertheless Saul spake not any thing that day: for he thought, Something hath befallen him, he is not clean; surely he is not clean.
- Saül ne dit rien ce jour-là; car, pensa-t-il, c'est par hasard, il n'est pas pur, certainement il n'est pas pur. (Ⅱ) - καὶ οὐκ ἐλάλησεν Σαουλ οὐδὲν ἐν τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ ἐκείνη̨ ὅτι εἰ̃πεν σύμπτωμα φαίνεται μὴ καθαρὸς εἰ̃ναι ὅτι οὐ κεκαθάρισται (Ⅲ) - Et non est locutus Saul quidquam in die illa : cogitabat enim quod forte evenisset ei, ut non esset mundus, nec purificatus. (Ⅳ) - 26 ׃20 ולא דבר שאול מאומה ביום ההוא כי אמר מקרה הוא בלתי טהור הוא כי לא טהור ס (Ⅴ)

And it came to pass on the morrow, which was the second day of the month, that David's place was empty: and Saul said unto Jonathan his son, Wherefore cometh not the son of Jesse to meat, neither yesterday, nor to day?
- Le lendemain, second jour de la nouvelle lune, la place de David était encore vide. Et Saül dit à Jonathan, son fils: Pourquoi le fils d'Isaï n'a-t-il paru au repas ni hier ni aujourd'hui? (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐγενήθη τη̨̃ ἐπαύριον του̃ μηνὸς τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ τη̨̃ δευτέρα̨ καὶ ἐπεσκέπη ὁ τόπος του̃ Δαυιδ καὶ εἰ̃πεν Σαουλ πρὸς Ιωναθαν τὸν υἱὸν αὐτου̃ τί ὅτι οὐ παραγέγονεν ὁ υἱὸς Ιεσσαι καὶ ἐχθὲς καὶ σήμερον ἐπὶ τὴν τράπεζαν (Ⅲ) - Cumque illuxisset dies secunda post calendas, rursus apparuit vacuus locus David. Dixitque Saul ad Jonathan filium suum : Cur non venit filius Isai nec heri nec hodie ad vescendum ? (Ⅳ) - 27 ׃20 ויהי ממחרת החדש השני ויפקד מקום דוד סויאמר שאול אל יהונתן בנו מדוע לא בא בן ישי גם תמול גם היום אל הלחם (Ⅴ)

And Jonathan answered Saul, David earnestly asked leave of me to go to Bethlehem:
- Jonathan répondit à Saül: David m'a demandé la permission d'aller à Bethléhem. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀπεκρίθη Ιωναθαν τω̨̃ Σαουλ καὶ εἰ̃πεν αὐτω̨̃ παρή̨τηται Δαυιδ παρ' ἐμου̃ ἕως εἰς Βηθλεεμ τὴν πόλιν αὐτου̃ πορευθη̃ναι (Ⅲ) - Responditque Jonathas Sauli : Rogavit me obnixe ut iret in Bethlehem, (Ⅳ) - 28 ׃20 ויען יהונתן את שאול נשאל נשאל דוד מעמדי עד בית לחם (Ⅴ)

And he said, Let me go, I pray thee; for our family hath a sacrifice in the city; and my brother, he hath commanded me to be there: and now, if I have found favor in thine eyes, let me get away, I pray thee, and see my brethren. Therefore he cometh not unto the king's table.
- Il a dit: Laisse-moi aller, je te prie, car nous avons dans la ville un sacrifice de famille, et mon frère me l'a fait savoir; si donc j'ai trouvé grâce à tes yeux, permets que j'aille en hâte voir mes frères. C'est pour cela qu'il n'est point venu à la table du roi. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἐξαπόστειλον δή με ὅτι θυσία τη̃ς φυλη̃ς ἡμι̃ν ἐν τη̨̃ πόλει καὶ ἐνετείλαντο πρός με οἱ ἀδελφοί μου καὶ νυ̃ν εἰ εὕρηκα χάριν ἐν ὀφθαλμοι̃ς σου διασωθήσομαι δὴ καὶ ὄψομαι τοὺς ἀδελφούς μου διὰ του̃το οὐ παραγέγονεν ἐπὶ τὴν τράπεζαν του̃ βασιλέως (Ⅲ) - et ait : Dimitte me, quoniam sacrificium solemne est in civitate, unus de fratribus meis accersivit me : nunc ergo si inveni gratiam in oculis tuis, vadam cito, et videbo fratres meos. Ob hanc causam non venit ad mensam regis. (Ⅳ) - 29 ׃20 ויאמר שלחני נא כי זבח משפחה לנו בעיר והוא צוה לי אחי ועתה אם מצאתי חן בעיניך אמלטה נא ואראה את אחי על כן לא בא אל שלחן המלך ס (Ⅴ)

Then Saul's anger was kindled against Jonathan, and he said unto him, Thou son of the perverse rebellious woman, do not I know that thou hast chosen the son of Jesse to thine own confusion, and unto the confusion of thy mother's nakedness?
- Alors la colère de Saül s'enflamma contre Jonathan, et il lui dit: Fils pervers et rebelle, sais je pas que tu as pour ami le fils d'Isaï, à ta honte et à la honte de ta mère? (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐθυμώθη ὀργη̨̃ Σαουλ ἐπὶ Ιωναθαν σφόδρα καὶ εἰ̃πεν αὐτω̨̃ υἱὲ κορασίων αὐτομολούντων οὐ γὰρ οἰ̃δα ὅτι μέτοχος εἰ̃ σὺ τω̨̃ υἱω̨̃ Ιεσσαι εἰς αἰσχύνην σου καὶ εἰς αἰσχύνην ἀποκαλύψεως μητρός σου (Ⅲ) - Iratus autem Saul adversum Jonathan, dixit ei : Fili mulieris virum ultro rapientis, numquid ignoro quia diligis filium Isai in confusionem tuam, et in confusionem ignominiosæ matris tuæ ? (Ⅳ) - 30 ׃20 ויחר אף שאול ביהונתן ויאמר לו בן נעות המרדות הלוא ידעתי כי בחר אתה לבן ישי לבשתך ולבשת ערות אמך (Ⅴ)

For as long as the son of Jesse liveth upon the ground, thou shalt not be established, nor thy kingdom. Wherefore now send and fetch him unto me, for he shall surely die.
- Car aussi longtemps que le fils d'Isaï sera vivant sur la terre, il n'y aura point de sécurité ni pour toi ni pour ta royauté. Et maintenant, envoie-le chercher, et qu'on me l'amène, car il est digne de mort. (Ⅱ) - ὅτι πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας ἃς ὁ υἱὸς Ιεσσαι ζη̨̃ ἐπὶ τη̃ς γη̃ς οὐχ ἑτοιμασθήσεται ἡ βασιλεία σου νυ̃ν οὐ̃ν ἀποστείλας λαβὲ τὸν νεανίαν ὅτι υἱὸς θανάτου οὑ̃τος (Ⅲ) - Omnibus enim diebus quibus filius Isai vixerit super terram, non stabilieris tu, neque regnum tuum. Itaque jam nunc mitte, et adduc eum ad me : quia filius mortis est. (Ⅳ) - 31 ׃20 כי כל הימים אשר בן ישי חי על האדמה לא תכון אתה ומלכותך ועתה שלח וקח אתו אלי כי בן מות הוא ס (Ⅴ)

And Jonathan answered Saul his father, and said unto him, Wherefore shall he be slain? what hath he done?
- Jonathan répondit à Saül, son père, et lui dit: Pourquoi le ferait-on mourir? Qu'a-t-il fait? (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀπεκρίθη Ιωναθαν τω̨̃ Σαουλ ἵνα τί ἀποθνή̨σκει τί πεποίηκεν (Ⅲ) - Respondens autem Jonathas Sauli patri suo, ait : Quare morietur ? quid fecit ? (Ⅳ) - 32 ׃20 ויען יהונתן את שאול אביו ויאמר אליו למה יומת מה עשה (Ⅴ)

And Saul cast a javelin at him to smite him: whereby Jonathan knew that it was determined of his father to slay David.
- Et Saül dirigea sa lance contre lui, pour le frapper. Jonathan comprit que c'était chose résolue chez son père que de faire mourir David. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐπη̃ρεν Σαουλ τὸ δόρυ ἐπὶ Ιωναθαν του̃ θανατω̃σαι αὐτόν καὶ ἔγνω Ιωναθαν ὅτι συντετέλεσται ἡ κακία αὕτη παρὰ του̃ πατρὸς αὐτου̃ θανατω̃σαι τὸν Δαυιδ (Ⅲ) - Et arripuit Saul lanceam ut percuteret eum. Et intellexit Jonathas quod definitum esset a patre suo, ut interficeret David. (Ⅳ) - 33 ׃20 ויטל שאול את החנית עליו להכתו וידע יהונתן כי כלה היא מעם אביו להמית את דוד ס (Ⅴ)

So Jonathan arose from the table in fierce anger, and did eat no meat the second day of the month: for he was grieved for David, because his father had done him shame.
- Il se leva de table dans une ardente colère, et ne participa point au repas le second jour de la nouvelle lune; car il était affligé à cause de David, parce que son père l'avait outragé. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀνεπήδησεν Ιωναθαν ἀπὸ τη̃ς τραπέζης ἐν ὀργη̨̃ θυμου̃ καὶ οὐκ ἔφαγεν ἐν τη̨̃ δευτέρα̨ του̃ μηνὸς ἄρτον ὅτι ἐθραύσθη ἐπὶ τὸν Δαυιδ ὅτι συνετέλεσεν ἐπ' αὐτὸν ὁ πατὴρ αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - Surrexit ergo Jonathas a mensa in ira furoris, et non comedit in die calendarum secunda panem. Contristatus est enim super David, eo quod confudisset eum pater suus. (Ⅳ) - 34 ׃20 ויקם יהונתן מעם השלחן בחרי אף ולא אכל ביום החדש השני לחם כי נעצב אל דוד כי הכלמו אביו ס (Ⅴ)

And it came to pass in the morning, that Jonathan went out into the field at the time appointed with David, and a little lad with him.
- Le lendemain matin, Jonathan alla dans les champs au lieu convenu avec David, et il était accompagné d'un petit garçon. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐγενήθη πρωὶ καὶ ἐξη̃λθεν Ιωναθαν εἰς ἀγρόν καθὼς ἐτάξατο εἰς τὸ μαρτύριον Δαυιδ καὶ παιδάριον μικρὸν μετ' αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - Cumque illuxisset mane, venit Jonathas in agrum juxta placitum David, et puer parvulus cum eo. (Ⅳ) - 35 ׃20 ויהי בבקר ויצא יהונתן השדה למועד דוד ונער קטן עמו (Ⅴ)

And he said unto his lad, Run, find out now the arrows which I shoot. And as the lad ran, he shot an arrow beyond him.
- Il lui dit: Cours, trouve les flèches que je vais tirer. Le garçon courut, et Jonathan tira une flèche qui le dépassa. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν τω̨̃ παιδαρίω̨ δράμε εὑρέ μοι τὰς σχίζας ἐν αἱ̃ς ἐγὼ ἀκοντίζω καὶ τὸ παιδάριον ἔδραμε καὶ αὐτὸς ἠκόντιζε τη̨̃ σχίζη̨ καὶ παρήγαγεν αὐτήν (Ⅲ) - Et ait ad puerum suum : Vade, et affer mihi sagittas quas ego jacio. Cumque puer cucurrisset, jecit aliam sagittam trans puerum. (Ⅳ) - 36 ׃20 ויאמר לנערו רץ מצא נא את החצים אשר אנכי מורה הנער רץ והוא ירה החצי להעברו (Ⅴ)

And when the lad was come to the place of the arrow which Jonathan had shot, Jonathan cried after the lad, and said, Is not the arrow beyond thee?
- Lorsqu'il arriva au lieu où était la flèche que Jonathan avait tirée, Jonathan cria derrière lui: La flèche n'est-elle pas plus loin que toi? (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἠ̃λθεν τὸ παιδάριον ἕως του̃ τόπου τη̃ς σχίζης οὑ̃ ἠκόντιζεν Ιωναθαν καὶ ἀνεβόησεν Ιωναθαν ὀπίσω του̃ νεανίου καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἐκει̃ ἡ σχίζα ἀπὸ σου̃ καὶ ἐπέκεινα (Ⅲ) - Venit itaque puer ad locum jaculi quod miserat Jonathas : et clamavit Jonathas post tergum pueri, et ait : Ecce ibi est sagitta porro ultra te. (Ⅳ) - 37 ׃20 ויבא הנער עד מקום החצי אשר ירה יהונתן ויקרא יהונתן אחרי הנער ויאמר הלוא החצי ממך והלאה (Ⅴ)

And Jonathan cried after the lad, Make speed, haste, stay not. And Jonathan's lad gathered up the arrows, and came to his master.
- Il lui cria encore: Vite, hâte-toi, ne t'arrête pas! Et le garçon de Jonathan ramassa les flèches et revint vers son maître. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀνεβόησεν Ιωναθαν ὀπίσω του̃ παιδαρίου αὐτου̃ λέγων ταχύνας σπευ̃σον καὶ μὴ στη̨̃ς καὶ ἀνέλεξεν τὸ παιδάριον Ιωναθαν τὰς σχίζας πρὸς τὸν κύριον αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - Clamavitque iterum Jonathas post tergum pueri, dicens : Festina velociter, ne steteris. Collegit autem puer Jonathæ sagittas, et attulit ad dominum suum : (Ⅳ) - 38 ׃20 ויקרא יהונתן אחרי הנער מהרה חושה אל תעמד וילקט נער יהונתן את *החצי **החצים ויבא אל אדניו (Ⅴ)

But the lad knew not any thing: only Jonathan and David knew the matter.
- Le garçon ne savait rien; Jonathan et David seuls comprenaient la chose. (Ⅱ) - καὶ τὸ παιδάριον οὐκ ἔγνω οὐθέν πάρεξ Ιωναθαν καὶ Δαυιδ ἔγνωσαν τὸ ῥη̃μα (Ⅲ) - et quid ageretur, penitus ignorabat, tantummodo enim Jonathas et David rem noverant. (Ⅳ) - 39 ׃20 והנער לא ידע מאומה אך יהונתן ודוד ידעו את הדבר (Ⅴ)

And Jonathan gave his artillery unto his lad, and said unto him, Go, carry them to the city.
- Jonathan remit ses armes à son garçon, et lui dit: Va, porte-les à la ville. (Ⅱ) - καὶ Ιωναθαν ἔδωκεν τὰ σκεύη αὐτου̃ ἐπὶ τὸ παιδάριον αὐτου̃ καὶ εἰ̃πεν τω̨̃ παιδαρίω̨ αὐτου̃ πορεύου εἴσελθε εἰς τὴν πόλιν (Ⅲ) - Dedit ergo Jonathas arma sua puero, et dixit ei : Vade, et defer in civitatem. (Ⅳ) - 40 ׃20 ויתן יהונתן את כליו אל הנער אשר לו ויאמר לו לך הביא העיר (Ⅴ)

And as soon as the lad was gone, David arose out of a place toward the south, and fell on his face to the ground, and bowed himself three times: and they kissed one another, and wept one with another, until David exceeded.
- Après le départ du garçon, David se leva du côté du midi, puis se jeta le visage contre terre et se prosterna trois fois. Les deux amis s'embrassèrent et pleurèrent ensemble, David surtout fondit en larmes. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ὡς εἰση̃λθεν τὸ παιδάριον καὶ Δαυιδ ἀνέστη ἀπὸ του̃ εργαβ καὶ ἔπεσεν ἐπὶ πρόσωπον αὐτου̃ καὶ προσεκύνησεν αὐτω̨̃ τρίς καὶ κατεφίλησεν ἕκαστος τὸν πλησίον αὐτου̃ καὶ ἔκλαυσεν ἕκαστος τω̨̃ πλησίον αὐτου̃ ἕως συντελείας μεγάλης (Ⅲ) - Cumque abiisset puer, surrexit David de loco qui vergebat ad austrum, et cadens pronus in terram, adoravit tertio : et osculantes se alterutrum, fleverunt pariter, David autem amplius. (Ⅳ) - 41 ׃20 הנער בא ודוד קם מאצל הנגב ויפל לאפיו ארצה וישתחו שלש פעמים וישקו איש את רעהו ויבכו איש את רעהו עד דוד הגדיל (Ⅴ)

And Jonathan said to David, Go in peace, forasmuch as we have sworn both of us in the name of the LORD, saying, The LORD be between me and thee, and between my seed and thy seed for ever.
- Et Jonathan dit à David: Va en paix, maintenant que nous avons juré l'un et l'autre, au nom de l'Éternel, en disant: Que l'Éternel soit à jamais entre moi et toi, entre ma postérité et ta postérité! (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν Ιωναθαν πορεύου εἰς εἰρήνην καὶ ὡς ὀμωμόκαμεν ἡμει̃ς ἀμφότεροι ἐν ὀνόματι κυρίου λέγοντες κύριος ἔσται μάρτυς ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμου̃ καὶ σου̃ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον του̃ σπέρματός μου καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον του̃ σπέρματός σου ἕως αἰω̃νος (Ⅲ) - Dixit ergo Jonathas ad David : Vade in pace : quæcumque juravimus ambo in nomine Domini, dicentes : Dominus sit inter me et te, et inter semen meum et semen tuum usque in sempiternum.
(20:43) Et surrexit David, et abiit : sed et Jonathas ingressus est civitatem. (Ⅳ) - 42 ׃20 ויאמר יהונתן לדוד לך לשלום אשר נשבענו שנינו אנחנו בשם יהוה לאמר יהוה יהיה ביני ובינך ובין זרעי ובין זרעך עד עולם פ (Ⅴ)
