And the child Samuel ministered unto the LORD before Eli. And the word of the LORD was precious in those days; there was no open vision.
- Le jeune Samuel était au service de l'Éternel devant Éli. La parole de l'Éternel était rare en ce temps-là, les visions n'étaient pas fréquentes. (Ⅱ) - καὶ τὸ παιδάριον Σαμουηλ ἠ̃ν λειτουργω̃ν τω̨̃ κυρίω̨ ἐνώπιον Ηλι του̃ ἱερέως καὶ ῥη̃μα κυρίου ἠ̃ν τίμιον ἐν ται̃ς ἡμέραις ἐκείναις οὐκ ἠ̃ν ὅρασις διαστέλλουσα (Ⅲ) - Puer autem Samuel ministrabat Domino coram Heli, et sermo Domini erat pretiosus in diebus illis : non erat visio manifesta. (Ⅳ) - 1 ׃3 והנער שמואל משרת את יהוה לפני עלי ודבר יהוה היה יקר בימים ההם אין חזון נפרץ ס (Ⅴ)

And it came to pass at that time, when Eli was laid down in his place, and his eyes began to wax dim, that he could not see;
- En ce même temps, Éli, qui commençait à avoir les yeux troubles et ne pouvait plus voir, était couché à sa place, (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ ἐκείνη̨ καὶ Ηλι ἐκάθευδεν ἐν τω̨̃ τόπω̨ αὐτου̃ καὶ οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ αὐτου̃ ἤρξαντο βαρύνεσθαι καὶ οὐκ ἠδύνατο βλέπειν (Ⅲ) - Factum est ergo in die quadam, Heli jacebat in loco suo, et oculi ejus caligaverant, nec poterat videre : (Ⅳ) - 2 ׃3 ויהי ביום ההוא ועלי שכב במקמו[1] *ועינו **ועיניו החלו כהות לא יוכל לראות (Ⅴ)

And ere the lamp of God went out in the temple of the LORD, where the ark of God was, and Samuel was laid down to sleep;
- la lampe de Dieu n'était pas encore éteinte, et Samuel était couché dans le temple de l'Éternel, où était l'arche de Dieu. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ὁ λύχνος του̃ θεου̃ πρὶν ἐπισκευασθη̃ναι καὶ Σαμουηλ ἐκάθευδεν ἐν τω̨̃ ναω̨̃ οὑ̃ ἡ κιβωτὸς του̃ θεου̃ (Ⅲ) - lucerna Dei antequam extingueretur, Samuel dormiebat in templo Domini, ubi erat arca Dei. (Ⅳ) - 3 ׃3 ונר אלהים טרם יכבה ושמואל שכב בהיכל יהוה אשר שם ארון אלהים פ (Ⅴ)

That the LORD called Samuel: and he answered, Here am I.
- Alors l'Éternel appela Samuel. Il répondit: Me voici! (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐκάλεσεν κύριος Σαμουηλ Σαμουηλ καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἰδοὺ ἐγώ (Ⅲ) - Et vocavit Dominus Samuel. Qui respondens, ait : Ecce ego. (Ⅳ) - 4 ׃3 ויקרא יהוה אל שמואל ויאמר הנני (Ⅴ)

And he ran unto Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou calledst me. And he said, I called not; lie down again. And he went and lay down.
- Et il courut vers Éli, et dit: Me voici, car tu m'as appelé. Éli répondit: Je n'ai point appelé; retourne te coucher. Et il alla se coucher. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔδραμεν πρὸς Ηλι καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἰδοὺ ἐγώ ὅτι κέκληκάς με καὶ εἰ̃πεν οὐ κέκληκά σε ἀνάστρεφε κάθευδε καὶ ἀνέστρεψεν καὶ ἐκάθευδεν (Ⅲ) - Et cucurrit ad Heli, et dixit : Ecce ego : vocasti enim me. Qui dixit : Non vocavi : revertere, et dormi. Et abiit, et dormivit. (Ⅳ) - 5 ׃3 וירץ אל עלי ויאמר הנני כי קראת לי ויאמר לא קראתי שוב שכב וילך וישכב ס (Ⅴ)

And the LORD called yet again, Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And he answered, I called not, my son; lie down again.
- L'Éternel appela de nouveau Samuel. Et Samuel se leva, alla vers Éli, et dit: Me voici, car tu m'as appelé. Éli répondit: Je n'ai point appelé, mon fils, retourne te coucher. (Ⅱ) - καὶ προσέθετο κύριος καὶ ἐκάλεσεν Σαμουηλ Σαμουηλ καὶ ἐπορεύθη πρὸς Ηλι τὸ δεύτερον καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἰδοὺ ἐγώ ὅτι κέκληκάς με καὶ εἰ̃πεν οὐ κέκληκά σε ἀνάστρεφε κάθευδε (Ⅲ) - Et adjecit Dominus rursum vocare Samuelem. Consurgensque Samuel, abiit ad Heli, et dixit : Ecce ego, quia vocasti me. Qui respondit : Non vocavi te, fili mi : revertere et dormi. (Ⅳ) - 6 ׃3 ויסף יהוה קרא עוד שמואל ויקם שמואל וילך אל עלי ויאמר הנני כי קראת לי ויאמר לא קראתי בני שוב שכב (Ⅴ)

Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD, neither was the word of the LORD yet revealed unto him.
- Samuel ne connaissait pas encore l'Éternel, et la parole de l'Éternel ne lui avait pas encore été révélée. (Ⅱ) - καὶ Σαμουηλ πρὶν ἢ γνω̃ναι θεὸν καὶ ἀποκαλυφθη̃ναι αὐτω̨̃ ῥη̃μα κυρίου (Ⅲ) - Porro Samuel necdum sciebat Dominum, neque revelatus fuerat ei sermo Domini. (Ⅳ) - 7 ׃3 ושמואל טרם ידע את יהוה וטרם יגלה אליו דבר יהוה (Ⅴ)

And the LORD called Samuel again the third time. And he arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And Eli perceived that the LORD had called the child.
- L'Éternel appela de nouveau Samuel, pour la troisième fois. Et Samuel se leva, alla vers Éli, et dit: Me voici, car tu m'as appelé. Éli comprit que c'était l'Éternel qui appelait l'enfant, (Ⅱ) - καὶ προσέθετο κύριος καλέσαι Σαμουηλ ἐν τρίτω̨ καὶ ἀνέστη καὶ ἐπορεύθη πρὸς Ηλι καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἰδοὺ ἐγώ ὅτι κέκληκάς με καὶ ἐσοφίσατο Ηλι ὅτι κύριος κέκληκεν τὸ παιδάριον (Ⅲ) - Et adjecit Dominus, et vocavit adhuc Samuelem tertio. Qui consurgens abiit ad Heli, (Ⅳ) - 8 ׃3 ויסף יהוה קרא שמואל בשלשית ויקם וילך אל עלי ויאמר הנני כי קראת לי ויבן עלי כי יהוה קרא לנער (Ⅴ)

Therefore Eli said unto Samuel, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call thee, that thou shalt say, Speak, LORD; for thy servant heareth. So Samuel went and lay down in his place.
- et il dit à Samuel: Va, couche-toi; et si l'on t'appelle, tu diras: Parle, Éternel, car ton serviteur écoute. Et Samuel alla se coucher à sa place. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἀνάστρεφε κάθευδε τέκνον καὶ ἔσται ἐὰν καλέση̨ σε καὶ ἐρει̃ς λάλει κύριε ὅτι ἀκούει ὁ δου̃λός σου καὶ ἐπορεύθη Σαμουηλ καὶ ἐκοιμήθη ἐν τω̨̃ τόπω̨ αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - et ait : Ecce ego, quia vocasti me. Intellexit ergo Heli quia Dominus vocaret puerum : et ait ad Samuelem : Vade, et dormi : et si deinceps vocaverit te, dices : Loquere, Domine, quia audit servus tuus. Abiit ergo Samuel, et dormivit in loco suo. (Ⅳ) - 9 ׃3 ויאמר עלי לשמואל לך שכב והיה אם יקרא אליך ואמרת דבר יהוה כי שמע עבדך וילך שמואל וישכב במקומו (Ⅴ)

And the LORD came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth.
- L'Éternel vint et se présenta, et il appela comme les autres fois: Samuel, Samuel! Et Samuel répondit: Parle, car ton serviteur écoute. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἠ̃λθεν κύριος καὶ κατέστη καὶ ἐκάλεσεν αὐτὸν ὡς ἅπαξ καὶ ἅπαξ καὶ εἰ̃πεν Σαμουηλ λάλει ὅτι ἀκούει ὁ δου̃λός σου (Ⅲ) - Et venit Dominus, et stetit : et vocavit, sicut vocaverat secundo : Samuel, Samuel. Et ait Samuel : Loquere, Domine, quia audit servus tuus. (Ⅳ) - 10 ׃3 ויבא יהוה ויתיצב ויקרא כפעם בפעם שמואל שמואל ויאמר שמואל דבר כי שמע עבדך פ (Ⅴ)

And the LORD said to Samuel, Behold, I will do a thing in Israel, at which both the ears of every one that heareth it shall tingle.
- Alors l'Éternel dit à Samuel: Voici, je vais faire en Israël une chose qui étourdira les oreilles de quiconque l'entendra. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν κύριος πρὸς Σαμουηλ ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ ποιω̃ τὰ ῥήματά μου ἐν Ισραηλ ὥστε παντὸς ἀκούοντος αὐτὰ ἠχήσει ἀμφότερα τὰ ὠ̃τα αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - Et dixit Dominus ad Samuelem : Ecce ego facio verbum in Israël, quod quicumque audierit, tinnient ambæ aures ejus. (Ⅳ) - 11 ׃3 ויאמר יהוה אל שמואל הנה אנכי עשה דבר בישראל אשר כל שמעו תצלינה שתי אזניו (Ⅴ)

In that day I will perform against Eli all things which I have spoken concerning his house: when I begin, I will also make an end.
- En ce jour j'accomplirai sur Éli tout ce que j'ai prononcé contre sa maison; je commencerai et j'achèverai. (Ⅱ) - ἐν τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ ἐκείνη̨ ἐπεγερω̃ ἐπὶ Ηλι πάντα ὅσα ἐλάλησα εἰς τὸν οἰ̃κον αὐτου̃ ἄρξομαι καὶ ἐπιτελέσω (Ⅲ) - In die illa suscitabo adversum Heli omnia quæ locutus sum super domum ejus : incipiam, et complebo. (Ⅳ) - 12 ׃3 ביום ההוא אקים אל עלי את כל אשר דברתי אל ביתו החל וכלה (Ⅴ)

For I have told him that I will judge his house for ever for the iniquity which he knoweth; because his sons made themselves vile, and he restrained them not.
- Je lui ai déclaré que je veux punir sa maison à perpétuité, à cause du crime dont il a connaissance, et par lequel ses fils se sont rendus méprisables, sans qu'il les ait réprimés. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀνήγγελκα αὐτω̨̃ ὅτι ἐκδικω̃ ἐγὼ τὸν οἰ̃κον αὐτου̃ ἕως αἰω̃νος ἐν ἀδικίαις υἱω̃ν αὐτου̃ ὅτι κακολογου̃ντες θεὸν υἱοὶ αὐτου̃ καὶ οὐκ ἐνουθέτει αὐτοὺς καὶ οὐδ' οὕτως (Ⅲ) - Prædixi enim ei quod judicaturus essem domum ejus in æternum propter iniquitatem, eo quod noverat indigne agere filios suos, et non corripuerit eos. (Ⅳ) - 13 ׃3 והגדתי לו כי שפט אני את ביתו עד עולם בעון אשר ידע כי מקללים להם בניו ולא כהה בם (Ⅴ)

And therefore I have sworn unto the house of Eli, that the iniquity of Eli's house shall not be purged with sacrifice nor offering for ever.
- C'est pourquoi je jure à la maison d'Éli que jamais le crime de la maison d'Éli ne sera expié, ni par des sacrifices ni par des offrandes. (Ⅱ) - ὤμοσα τω̨̃ οἴκω̨ Ηλι εἰ ἐξιλασθήσεται ἀδικία οἴκου Ηλι ἐν θυμιάματι καὶ ἐν θυσίαις ἕως αἰω̃νος (Ⅲ) - Idcirco juravi domui Heli quod non expietur iniquitas domus ejus victimis et muneribus usque in æternum.\ (Ⅳ) - 14 ׃3 ולכן נשבעתי לבית עלי אם יתכפר עון בית עלי בזבח ובמנחה עד עולם (Ⅴ)

And Samuel lay until the morning, and opened the doors of the house of the LORD. And Samuel feared to show Eli the vision.
- Samuel resta couché jusqu'au matin, puis il ouvrit les portes de la maison de l'Éternel. Samuel craignait de raconter la vision à Éli. (Ⅱ) - καὶ κοιμα̃ται Σαμουηλ ἕως πρωὶ καὶ ὤρθρισεν τὸ πρωὶ καὶ ἤνοιξεν τὰς θύρας οἴκου κυρίου καὶ Σαμουηλ ἐφοβήθη ἀπαγγει̃λαι τὴν ὅρασιν τω̨̃ Ηλι (Ⅲ) - Dormivit autem Samuel usque mane, aperuitque ostia domus Domini. Et Samuel timebat indicare visionem Heli. (Ⅳ) - 15 ׃3 וישכב שמואל עד הבקר ויפתח את דלתות בית יהוה ושמואל ירא מהגיד את המראה אל עלי (Ⅴ)

Then Eli called Samuel, and said, Samuel, my son. And he answered, Here am I.
- Mais Éli appela Samuel, et dit: Samuel, mon fils! Il répondit: Me voici! (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν Ηλι πρὸς Σαμουηλ Σαμουηλ τέκνον καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἰδοὺ ἐγώ (Ⅲ) - Vocavit ergo Heli Samuelem, et dixit : Samuel fili mi ? Qui respondens ait : Præsto sum. (Ⅳ) - 16 ׃3 ויקרא עלי את שמואל ויאמר שמואל בני ויאמר הנני (Ⅴ)

And he said, What is the thing that the LORD hath said unto thee? I pray thee hide it not from me: God do so to thee, and more also, if thou hide any thing from me of all the things that he said unto thee.
- Et Éli dit: Quelle est la parole que t'a adressée l'Éternel? Ne me cache rien. Que Dieu te traite dans toute sa rigueur, si tu me caches quelque chose de tout ce qu'il t'a dit! (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν τί τὸ ῥη̃μα τὸ λαληθὲν πρὸς σέ μὴ δὴ κρύψη̨ς ἀπ' ἐμου̃ τάδε ποιήσαι σοι ὁ θεὸς καὶ τάδε προσθείη ἐὰν κρύψη̨ς ἀπ' ἐμου̃ ῥη̃μα ἐκ πάντων τω̃ν λόγων τω̃ν λαληθέντων σοι ἐν τοι̃ς ὠσίν σου (Ⅲ) - Et interrogavit eum : Quis est sermo, quem locutus est Dominus ad te ? oro te ne celaveris me : hæc faciat tibi Deus, et hæc addat, si absconderis a me sermonem ex omnibus verbis quæ dicta sunt tibi. (Ⅳ) - 17 ׃3 ויאמר מה הדבר אשר דבר אליך אל נא תכחד ממני כה יעשה לך אלהים וכה יוסיף אם תכחד ממני דבר מכל הדבר אשר דבר אליך (Ⅴ)

And Samuel told him every whit, and hid nothing from him. And he said, It is the LORD: let him do what seemeth him good.
- Samuel lui raconta tout, sans lui rien cacher. Et Éli dit: C'est l'Éternel, qu'il fasse ce qui lui semblera bon! (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀπήγγειλεν Σαμουηλ πάντας τοὺς λόγους καὶ οὐκ ἔκρυψεν ἀπ' αὐτου̃ καὶ εἰ̃πεν Ηλι κύριος αὐτός τὸ ἀγαθὸν ἐνώπιον αὐτου̃ ποιήσει (Ⅲ) - Indicavit itaque ei Samuel universos sermones, et non abscondit ab eo. Et ille respondit : Dominus est : quod bonum est in oculis suis faciat.\ (Ⅳ) - 18 ׃3 ויגד לו שמואל את כל הדברים ולא כחד ממנו ויאמר יהוה הוא הטוב בעינו[q] יעשה פ (Ⅴ)

And Samuel grew, and the LORD was with him, and did let none of his words fall to the ground.
- Samuel grandissait. L'Éternel était avec lui, et il ne laissa tomber à terre aucune de ses paroles. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐμεγαλύνθη Σαμουηλ καὶ ἠ̃ν κύριος μετ' αὐτου̃ καὶ οὐκ ἔπεσεν ἀπὸ πάντων τω̃ν λόγων αὐτου̃ ἐπὶ τὴν γη̃ν (Ⅲ) - Crevit autem Samuel, et Dominus erat cum eo, et non cecidit ex omnibus verbis ejus in terram. (Ⅳ) - 19 ׃3 ויגדל שמואל ויהוה היה עמו ולא הפיל מכל דבריו ארצה (Ⅴ)

And all Israel from Dan even to Beersheba knew that Samuel was established to be a prophet of the LORD.
- Tout Israël, depuis Dan jusqu'à Beer Schéba, reconnut que Samuel était établi prophète de l'Éternel. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔγνωσαν πα̃ς Ισραηλ ἀπὸ Δαν καὶ ἕως Βηρσαβεε ὅτι πιστὸς Σαμουηλ εἰς προφήτην τω̨̃ κυρίω̨ (Ⅲ) - Et cognovit universus Israël, a Dan usque Bersabee, quod fidelis Samuel propheta esset Domini. (Ⅳ) - 20 ׃3 וידע כל ישראל מדן ועד באר שבע כי נאמן שמואל לנביא ליהוה (Ⅴ)

And the LORD appeared again in Shiloh: for the LORD revealed himself to Samuel in Shiloh by the word of the LORD.
- L'Éternel continuait à apparaître dans Silo; car l'Éternel se révélait à Samuel, dans Silo, par la parole de l'Éternel. (Ⅱ) - καὶ προσέθετο κύριος δηλωθη̃ναι ἐν Σηλωμ ὅτι ἀπεκαλύφθη κύριος πρὸς Σαμουηλ καὶ ἐπιστεύθη Σαμουηλ προφήτης γενέσθαι τω̨̃ κυρίω̨ εἰς πάντα Ισραηλ ἀπ' ἄκρων τη̃ς γη̃ς καὶ ἕως ἄκρων καὶ Ηλι πρεσβύτης σφόδρα καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτου̃ πορευόμενοι ἐπορεύοντο καὶ πονηρὰ ἡ ὁδὸς αὐτω̃ν ἐνώπιον κυρίου (Ⅲ) - Et addidit Dominus ut appareret in Silo, quoniam revelatus fuerat Dominus Samueli in Silo juxta verbum Domini. Et evenit sermo Samuelis universo Israëli. (Ⅳ) - 21 ׃3 ויסף יהוה להראה בשלה כי נגלה יהוה אל שמואל בשלו בדבר יהוה פ (Ⅴ)
