24. 1  
And it came to pass, when Saul was returned from following the Philistines, that it was told him, saying, Behold, David is in the wilderness of Engedi.
- Lorsque Saül fut revenu de la poursuite des Philistins, on vint lui dire: Voici, David est dans le désert d'En Guédi. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἀνέβη Δαυιδ ἐκει̃θεν καὶ ἐκάθισεν ἐν τοι̃ς στενοι̃ς Εγγαδδι (Ⅲ)
- Cumque reversus esset Saul, postquam persecutus est Philisthæos, nuntiaverunt ei, dicentes : Ecce David in deserto est Engaddi. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 2  ׃24  ויהי כאשר שב שאול מאחרי פלשתים ויגדו לו לאמר הנה דוד במדבר עין גדי ס‬ (Ⅴ)
24. 2  
Then Saul took three thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and went to seek David and his men upon the rocks of the wild goats.
- Saül prit trois mille hommes d'élite sur tout Israël, et il alla chercher David et ses gens jusque sur les rochers des boucs sauvages. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἐγενήθη ὡς ἀνέστρεψεν Σαουλ ἀπὸ ὄπισθεν τω̃ν ἀλλοφύλων καὶ ἀπηγγέλη αὐτω̨̃ λεγόντων ὅτι Δαυιδ ἐν τη̨̃ ἐρήμω̨ Εγγαδδι (Ⅲ)
- Assumens ergo Saul tria millia electorum virorum ex omni Israël, perrexit ad investigandum David et viros ejus, etiam super abruptissimas petras, quæ solis ibicibus perviæ sunt. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 3  ׃24  ויקח שאול שלשת אלפים איש בחור מכל ישראל וילך לבקש את דוד ואנשיו על פני צורי היעלים ‬ (Ⅴ)
24. 3  
And he came to the sheepcotes by the way, where was a cave; and Saul went in to cover his feet: and David and his men remained in the sides of the cave.
- Il arriva à des parcs de brebis, qui étaient près du chemin; et là se trouvait une caverne, où il entra pour se couvrir les pieds. David et ses gens étaient au fond de la caverne. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἔλαβεν μεθ' ἑαυτου̃ τρει̃ς χιλιάδας ἀνδρω̃ν ἐκλεκτοὺς ἐκ παντὸς Ισραηλ καὶ ἐπορεύθη ζητει̃ν τὸν Δαυιδ καὶ τοὺς ἄνδρας αὐτου̃ ἐπὶ πρόσωπον Σαδαιεμ (Ⅲ)
- Et venit ad caulas ovium, quæ se offerebant vianti : eratque ibi spelunca, quam ingressus est Saul ut purgaret ventrem : porro David et viri ejus in interiore parte speluncæ latebant. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 4  ׃24  ויבא אל גדרות הצאן על הדרך ושם מערה ויבא שאול להסך את רגליו ודוד ואנשיו בירכתי המערה ישבים ‬ (Ⅴ)
24. 4  
And the men of David said unto him, Behold the day of which the LORD said unto thee, Behold, I will deliver thine enemy into thine hand, that thou mayest do to him as it shall seem good unto thee. Then David arose, and cut off the skirt of Saul's robe privily.
- Les gens de David lui dirent: Voici le jour où l'Éternel te dit: Je livre ton ennemi entre tes mains; traite-le comme bon te semblera. David se leva, et coupa doucement le pan du manteau de Saül. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἠ̃λθεν εἰς τὰς ἀγέλας τω̃ν ποιμνίων τὰς ἐπὶ τη̃ς ὁδου̃ καὶ ἠ̃ν ἐκει̃ σπήλαιον καὶ Σαουλ εἰση̃λθεν παρασκευάσασθαι καὶ Δαυιδ καὶ οἱ ἄνδρες αὐτου̃ ἐσώτερον του̃ σπηλαίου ἐκάθηντο (Ⅲ)
- Et dixerunt servi David ad eum : Ecce dies de qua locutus est Dominus ad te : Ego tradam tibi inimicum tuum, ut facias ei sicut placuerit in oculis tuis. Surrexit ergo David, et præcidit oram chlamydis Saul silenter. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 5  ׃24  ויאמרו אנשי דוד אליו הנה היום אשר אמר יהוה אליך הנה אנכי נתן את *איביך **איבך בידך ועשית לו כאשר יטב בעיניך ויקם דוד ויכרת את כנף המעיל אשר לשאול בלט ‬ (Ⅴ)

And it came to pass afterward, that David's heart smote him, because he had cut off Saul's skirt.
- Après cela le coeur lui battit, parce qu'il avait coupé le pan du manteau de Saül. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ εἰ̃πον οἱ ἄνδρες Δαυιδ πρὸς αὐτόν ἰδοὺ ἡ ἡμέρα αὕτη ἣν εἰ̃πεν κύριος πρὸς σὲ παραδου̃ναι τὸν ἐχθρόν σου εἰς τὰς χει̃ράς σου καὶ ποιήσεις αὐτω̨̃ ὡς ἀγαθὸν ἐν ὀφθαλμοι̃ς σου καὶ ἀνέστη Δαυιδ καὶ ἀφει̃λεν τὸ πτερύγιον τη̃ς διπλοΐδος τη̃ς Σαουλ λαθραίως (Ⅲ)
- Post hæc percussit cor suum David, eo quod abscidisset oram chlamydis Saul. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 6  ׃24  ויהי אחרי כן ויך לב דוד אתו על אשר כרת את כנף אשר לשאול ס‬ (Ⅴ)
24. 6  
And he said unto his men, The LORD forbid that I should do this thing unto my master, the LORD's anointed, to stretch forth mine hand against him, seeing he is the anointed of the LORD.
- Et il dit à ses gens: Que l'Éternel me garde de commettre contre mon seigneur, l'oint de l'Éternel, une action telle que de porter ma main sur lui! car il est l'oint de l'Éternel. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἐγενήθη μετὰ ταυ̃τα καὶ ἐπάταξεν καρδία Δαυιδ αὐτόν ὅτι ἀφει̃λεν τὸ πτερύγιον τη̃ς διπλοΐδος αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ)
- Dixitque ad viros suos : Propitius sit mihi Dominus, ne faciam hanc rem domino meo, christo Domini, ut mittam manum meam in eum : quia christus Domini est. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 7  ׃24  ויאמר לאנשיו חלילה לי מיהוה אם אעשה את הדבר הזה לאדני למשיח יהוה לשלח ידי בו כי משיח יהוה הוא ‬ (Ⅴ)
24. 7  
So David stayed his servants with these words, and suffered them not to rise against Saul. But Saul rose up out of the cave, and went on his way.
- Par ces paroles David arrêta ses gens, et les empêcha de se jeter sur Saül. Puis Saül se leva pour sortir de la caverne, et continua son chemin. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Δαυιδ πρὸς τοὺς ἄνδρας αὐτου̃ μηδαμω̃ς μοι παρὰ κυρίου εἰ ποιήσω τὸ ῥη̃μα του̃το τω̨̃ κυρίω̨ μου τω̨̃ χριστω̨̃ κυρίου ἐπενέγκαι χει̃ρά μου ἐπ' αὐτόν ὅτι χριστὸς κυρίου ἐστὶν οὑ̃τος (Ⅲ)
- Et confregit David viros suos sermonibus, et non permisit eos ut consurgerent in Saul : porro Saul exsurgens de spelunca, pergebat cœpto itinere.\ (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 8  ׃24  וישסע דוד את אנשיו בדברים ולא נתנם לקום אל שאול ושאול קם מהמערה וילך בדרך ס‬ (Ⅴ)
24. 8  
David also arose afterward, and went out of the cave, and cried after Saul, saying, My lord the king. And when Saul looked behind him, David stooped with his face to the earth, and bowed himself.
- Après cela, David se leva et sortit de la caverne. Il se mit alors à crier après Saül: O roi, mon seigneur! Saül regarda derrière lui, et David s'inclina le visage contre terre et se prosterna. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἔπεισεν Δαυιδ τοὺς ἄνδρας αὐτου̃ ἐν λόγοις καὶ οὐκ ἔδωκεν αὐτοι̃ς ἀναστάντας θανατω̃σαι τὸν Σαουλ καὶ ἀνέστη Σαουλ καὶ κατέβη εἰς τὴν ὁδόν (Ⅲ)
- Surrexit autem et David post eum : et egressus de spelunca, clamavit post tergum Saul, dicens : Domine mi rex. Et respexit Saul post se : et inclinans se David pronus in terram adoravit, (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 9  ׃24  ויקם דוד אחרי כן ויצא *מן *המערה **מהמערה ויקרא אחרי שאול לאמר אדני המלך ויבט שאול אחריו ויקד דוד אפים ארצה וישתחו ס‬ (Ⅴ)
24. 9  
And David said to Saul, Wherefore hearest thou men's words, saying, Behold, David seeketh thy hurt?
- David dit à Saül: Pourquoi écoutes-tu les propos des gens qui disent: Voici, David cherche ton malheur? (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἀνέστη Δαυιδ ὀπίσω αὐτου̃ ἐκ του̃ σπηλαίου καὶ ἐβόησεν Δαυιδ ὀπίσω Σαουλ λέγων κύριε βασιλευ̃ καὶ ἐπέβλεψεν Σαουλ εἰς τὰ ὀπίσω αὐτου̃ καὶ ἔκυψεν Δαυιδ ἐπὶ πρόσωπον αὐτου̃ ἐπὶ τὴν γη̃ν καὶ προσεκύνησεν αὐτω̨̃ (Ⅲ)
- dixitque ad Saul : Quare audis verba hominum loquentium : David quærit malum adversum te ? (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 10 ׃24  ויאמר דוד לשאול למה תשמע את דברי אדם לאמר הנה דוד מבקש רעתך ‬ (Ⅴ)
24. 10  
Behold, this day thine eyes have seen how that the LORD had delivered thee to day into mine hand in the cave: and some bade me kill thee: but mine eye spared thee; and I said, I will not put forth mine hand against my lord; for he is the LORD's anointed.
- Tu vois maintenant de tes propres yeux que l'Éternel t'avait livré aujourd'hui entre mes mains dans la caverne. On m'excitait à te tuer; mais je t'ai épargné, et j'ai dit: Je ne porterai pas la main sur mon seigneur, car il est l'oint de l'Éternel. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Δαυιδ πρὸς Σαουλ ἵνα τί ἀκούεις τω̃ν λόγων του̃ λαου̃ λεγόντων ἰδοὺ Δαυιδ ζητει̃ τὴν ψυχήν σου (Ⅲ)
- Ecce hodie viderunt oculi tui quod tradiderit te Dominus in manu mea in spelunca : et cogitavi ut occiderem te, sed pepercit tibi oculus meus : dixi enim : Non extendam manum meam in dominum meum, quia christus Domini est. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 11 ׃24  הנה היום הזה ראו עיניך את אשר נתנך יהוה היום בידי במערה ואמר להרגך ותחס עליך ואמר לא אשלח ידי באדני כי משיח יהוה הוא ‬ (Ⅴ)
24. 11  
Moreover, my father, see, yea, see the skirt of thy robe in my hand: for in that I cut off the skirt of thy robe, and killed thee not, know thou and see that there is neither evil nor transgression in mine hand, and I have not sinned against thee; yet thou huntest my soul to take it.
- Vois, mon père, vois donc le pan de ton manteau dans ma main. Puisque j'ai coupé le pan de ton manteau et que je ne t'ai pas tué, sache et reconnais qu'il n'y a dans ma conduite ni méchanceté ni révolte, et que je n'ai point péché contre toi. Et toi, tu me dresses des embûches, pour m'ôter la vie! (Ⅱ)
- ἰδοὺ ἐν τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ ταύτη̨ ἑοράκασιν οἱ ὀφθαλμοί σου ὡς παρέδωκέν σε κύριος σήμερον εἰς χει̃ρά μου ἐν τω̨̃ σπηλαίω̨ καὶ οὐκ ἠβουλήθην ἀποκτει̃ναί σε καὶ ἐφεισάμην σου καὶ εἰ̃πα οὐκ ἐποίσω χει̃ρά μου ἐπὶ κύριόν μου ὅτι χριστὸς κυρίου οὑ̃τός ἐστιν (Ⅲ)
- Quin potius pater mi, vide, et cognosce oram chlamydis tuæ in manu mea : quoniam cum præscinderem summitatem chlamydis tuæ, nolui extendere manum meam in te : animadverte, et vide, quoniam non est in manu mea malum, neque iniquitas, neque peccavi in te : tu autem insidiaris animæ meæ ut auferas eam. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 12 ׃24  ואבי ראה גם ראה את כנף מעילך בידי כי בכרתי את כנף מעילך ולא הרגתיך דע וראה כי אין בידי רעה ופשע ולא חטאתי לך ואתה צדה את נפשי לקחתה ‬ (Ⅴ)
24. 12  
The LORD judge between me and thee, and the LORD avenge me of thee: but mine hand shall not be upon thee.
- L'Éternel sera juge entre moi et toi, et l'Éternel me vengera de toi; mais je ne porterai point la main sur toi. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἰδοὺ τὸ πτερύγιον τη̃ς διπλοΐδος σου ἐν τη̨̃ χειρί μου ἐγὼ ἀφή̨ρηκα τὸ πτερύγιον καὶ οὐκ ἀπέκταγκά σε καὶ γνω̃θι καὶ ἰδὲ σήμερον ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν κακία ἐν τη̨̃ χειρί μου οὐδὲ ἀσέβεια καὶ ἀθέτησις καὶ οὐχ ἡμάρτηκα εἰς σέ καὶ σὺ δεσμεύεις τὴν ψυχήν μου λαβει̃ν αὐτήν (Ⅲ)
- Judicet Dominus inter me et te, et ulciscatur me Dominus ex te : manus autem mea non sit in te. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 13 ׃24  ישפט יהוה ביני ובינך ונקמני יהוה ממך וידי לא תהיה בך ‬ (Ⅴ)
24. 13  
As saith the proverb of the ancients, Wickedness proceedeth from the wicked: but mine hand shall not be upon thee.
- Des méchants vient la méchanceté, dit l'ancien proverbe. Aussi je ne porterai point la main sur toi. (Ⅱ)
- δικάσαι κύριος ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμου̃ καὶ σου̃ καὶ ἐκδικήσαι με κύριος ἐκ σου̃ καὶ ἡ χείρ μου οὐκ ἔσται ἐπὶ σοί (Ⅲ)
- Sicut et in proverbio antiquo dicitur : Ab impiis egredietur impietas : manus ergo mea non sit in te. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 14 ׃24  כאשר יאמר משל הקדמני מרשעים יצא רשע וידי לא תהיה בך ‬ (Ⅴ)
24. 14  
After whom is the king of Israel come out? after whom dost thou pursue? after a dead dog, after a flea.
- Contre qui le roi d'Israël s'est-il mis en marche? Qui poursuis-tu? Un chien mort, une puce! (Ⅱ)
- καθὼς λέγεται ἡ παραβολὴ ἡ ἀρχαία ἐξ ἀνόμων ἐξελεύσεται πλημμέλεια καὶ ἡ χείρ μου οὐκ ἔσται ἐπὶ σέ (Ⅲ)
- Quem persequeris, rex Israël ? quem persequeris ? canem mortuum persequeris, et pulicem unum. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 15 ׃24  אחרי מי יצא מלך ישראל אחרי מי אתה רדף אחרי כלב מת אחרי פרעש אחד ‬ (Ⅴ)
24. 15  
The LORD therefore be judge, and judge between me and thee, and see, and plead my cause, and deliver me out of thine hand.
- L'Éternel jugera et prononcera entre moi et toi; il regardera, il défendra ma cause, il me rendra justice en me délivrant de ta main. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ νυ̃ν ὀπίσω τίνος σὺ ἐκπορεύη̨ βασιλευ̃ Ισραηλ ὀπίσω τίνος καταδιώκεις σύ ὀπίσω κυνὸς τεθνηκότος καὶ ὀπίσω ψύλλου ἑνός (Ⅲ)
- Sit Dominus judex, et judicet inter me et te : et videat, et judicet causam meam, et eruat me de manu tua. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 16 ׃24  והיה יהוה לדין ושפט ביני ובינך וירא וירב את ריבי וישפטני מידך פ‬ (Ⅴ)
24. 16  
And it came to pass, when David had made an end of speaking these words unto Saul, that Saul said, Is this thy voice, my son David? And Saul lifted up his voice, and wept.
- Lorsque David eut fini d'adresser à Saül ces paroles, Saül dit: Est-ce bien ta voix, mon fils David? Et Saül éleva la voix et pleura. (Ⅱ)
- γένοιτο κύριος εἰς κριτὴν καὶ δικαστὴν ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμου̃ καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον σου̃ ἴδοι κύριος καὶ κρίναι τὴν κρίσιν μου καὶ δικάσαι μοι ἐκ χειρός σου (Ⅲ)
- Cum autem complesset David loquens sermones hujuscemodi ad Saul, dixit Saul : Numquid vox hæc tua est, fili mi David ? Et levavit Saul vocem suam, et flevit : (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 17 ׃24  ויהי ככלות דוד לדבר את הדברים האלה אל שאול ויאמר שאול הקלך זה בני דוד וישא שאול קלו ויבך ‬ (Ⅴ)
24. 17  
And he said to David, Thou art more righteous than I: for thou hast rewarded me good, whereas I have rewarded thee evil.
- Et il dit à David: Tu es plus juste que moi; car tu m'as fait du bien, et moi je t'ai fait du mal. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς συνετέλεσεν Δαυιδ τὰ ῥήματα ταυ̃τα λαλω̃ν πρὸς Σαουλ καὶ εἰ̃πεν Σαουλ ἠ̃ φωνή σου αὕτη τέκνον Δαυιδ καὶ ἠ̃ρεν τὴν φωνὴν αὐτου̃ Σαουλ καὶ ἔκλαυσεν (Ⅲ)
- dixitque ad David : Justior tu es quam ego : tu enim tribuisti mihi bona, ego autem reddidi tibi mala. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 18 ׃24  ויאמר אל דוד צדיק אתה ממני כי אתה גמלתני הטובה ואני גמלתיך הרעה ‬ (Ⅴ)
24. 18  
And thou hast showed this day how that thou hast dealt well with me: forasmuch as when the LORD had delivered me into thine hand, thou killedst me not.
- Tu manifestes aujourd'hui la bonté avec laquelle tu agis envers moi, puisque l'Éternel m'avait livré entre tes mains et que tu ne m'as pas tué. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ εἰ̃πεν Σαουλ πρὸς Δαυιδ δίκαιος σὺ ὑπὲρ ἐμέ ὅτι σὺ ἀνταπέδωκάς μοι ἀγαθά ἐγὼ δὲ ἀνταπέδωκά σοι κακά (Ⅲ)
- Et tu indicasti hodie quæ feceris mihi bona : quomodo tradiderit me Dominus in manum tuam, et non occideris me. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 19 ׃24  *ואת **ואתה הגדת היום את אשר עשיתה אתי טובה את אשר סגרני יהוה בידך ולא הרגתני ‬ (Ⅴ)
24. 19  
For if a man find his enemy, will he let him go well away? wherefore the LORD reward thee good for that thou hast done unto me this day.
- Si quelqu'un rencontre son ennemi, le laisse-t-il poursuivre tranquillement son chemin? Que l'Éternel te récompense pour ce que tu m'as fait en ce jour! (Ⅱ)
- καὶ σὺ ἀπήγγειλάς μοι σήμερον ἃ ἐποίησάς μοι ἀγαθά ὡς ἀπέκλεισέν με κύριος σήμερον εἰς χει̃ράς σου καὶ οὐκ ἀπέκτεινάς με (Ⅲ)
- Quis enim cum invenerit inimicum suum, dimittet eum in via bona ? sed Dominus reddat tibi vicissitudinem hanc pro eo quod hodie operatus es in me. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 20 ׃24  וכי ימצא איש את איבו ושלחו בדרך טובה ויהוה ישלמך טובה תחת היום הזה אשר עשיתה לי ‬ (Ⅴ)
24. 20  
And now, behold, I know well that thou shalt surely be king, and that the kingdom of Israel shall be established in thine hand.
- Maintenant voici, je sais que tu régneras, et que la royauté d'Israël restera entre tes mains. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ ὅτι εἰ εὕροιτό τις τὸν ἐχθρὸν αὐτου̃ ἐν θλίψει καὶ ἐκπέμψαι αὐτὸν ἐν ὁδω̨̃ ἀγαθη̨̃ καὶ κύριος ἀνταποτείσει αὐτω̨̃ ἀγαθά καθὼς πεποίηκας σήμερον (Ⅲ)
- Et nunc quia scio quod certissime regnaturus sis, et habiturus in manu tua regnum Israël : (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 21 ׃24  ועתה הנה ידעתי כי מלך תמלוך וקמה בידך ממלכת ישראל ‬ (Ⅴ)
24. 21  
Swear now therefore unto me by the LORD, that thou wilt not cut off my seed after me, and that thou wilt not destroy my name out of my father's house.
- Jure-moi donc par l'Éternel que tu ne détruiras pas ma postérité après moi, et que tu ne retrancheras pas mon nom de la maison de mon père. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ νυ̃ν ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ γινώσκω ὅτι βασιλεύων βασιλεύσεις καὶ στήσεται ἐν χερσίν σου βασιλεία Ισραηλ (Ⅲ)
- jura mihi in Domino, ne deleas semen meum post me, neque auferas nomen meum de domo patris mei. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 22 ׃24  ועתה השבעה לי ביהוה אם תכרית את זרעי אחרי ואם תשמיד את שמי מבית אבי ‬ (Ⅴ)
24. 22  
And David sware unto Saul. And Saul went home; but David and his men gat them up unto the hold.
- David le jura à Saül. Puis Saül s'en alla dans sa maison, et David et ses gens montèrent au lieu fort. (Ⅱ)
- καὶ νυ̃ν ὄμοσόν μοι ἐν κυρίω̨ ὅτι οὐκ ἐξολεθρεύσεις τὸ σπέρμα μου ὀπίσω μου καὶ οὐκ ἀφανιει̃ς τὸ ὄνομά μου ἐκ του̃ οἴκου του̃ πατρός μου 24:23 καὶ ὤμοσεν Δαυιδ τω̨̃ Σαουλ καὶ ἀπη̃λθεν Σαουλ εἰς τὸν τόπον αὐτου̃ καὶ Δαυιδ καὶ οἱ ἄνδρες αὐτου̃ ἀνέβησαν εἰς τὴν Μεσσαρα στενήν (Ⅲ)
- Et juravit David Sauli. Abiit ergo Saul in domum suam : et David et viri ejus ascenderunt ad tutiora loca. (Ⅳ)
- ‫ 23 ׃24  וישבע דוד לשאול וילך שאול אל ביתו ודוד ואנשיו עלו על המצודה פ‬ (Ⅴ)
