And Jacob lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, Esau came, and with him four hundred men. And he divided the children unto Leah, and unto Rachel, and unto the two handmaids.
- Jacob leva les yeux, et regarda; et voici, Ésaü arrivait, avec quatre cents hommes. Il répartit les enfants entre Léa, Rachel, et les deux servantes. (Ⅱ) - ἀναβλέψας δὲ Ιακωβ εἰ̃δεν καὶ ἰδοὺ Ησαυ ὁ ἀδελφὸς αὐτου̃ ἐρχόμενος καὶ τετρακόσιοι ἄνδρες μετ' αὐτου̃ καὶ ἐπιδιει̃λεν Ιακωβ τὰ παιδία ἐπὶ Λειαν καὶ Ραχηλ καὶ τὰς δύο παιδίσκας (Ⅲ) - Elevans autem Jacob oculos suos, vidit venientem Esau, et cum eo quadringentos viros : divisitque filios Liæ et Rachel, ambarumque famularum : (Ⅳ) - 1 ׃33 וישא יעקב עיניו וירא והנה עשו בא ועמו ארבע מאות איש ויחץ את הילדים על לאה ועל רחל ועל שתי השפחות (Ⅴ)

And he put the handmaids and their children foremost, and Leah and her children after, and Rachel and Joseph hindermost.
- Il plaça en tête les servantes avec leurs enfants, puis Léa avec ses enfants, et enfin Rachel avec Joseph. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐποίησεν τὰς δύο παιδίσκας καὶ τοὺς υἱοὺς αὐτω̃ν ἐν πρώτοις καὶ Λειαν καὶ τὰ παιδία αὐτη̃ς ὀπίσω καὶ Ραχηλ καὶ Ιωσηφ ἐσχάτους (Ⅲ) - et posuit utramque ancillam, et liberos earum, in principio : Liam vero, et filios ejus, in secundo loco : Rachel autem et Joseph novissimos. (Ⅳ) - 2 ׃33 וישם את השפחות ואת ילדיהן ראשנה ואת לאה וילדיה אחרנים ואת רחל ואת יוסף אחרנים (Ⅴ)

And he passed over before them, and bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother.
- Lui-même passa devant eux; et il se prosterna en terre sept fois, jusqu'à ce qu'il fût près de son frère. (Ⅱ) - αὐτὸς δὲ προη̃λθεν ἔμπροσθεν αὐτω̃ν καὶ προσεκύνησεν ἐπὶ τὴν γη̃ν ἑπτάκις ἕως του̃ ἐγγίσαι του̃ ἀδελφου̃ αὐτου̃ (Ⅲ) - Et ipse progrediens adoravit pronus in terram septies, donec appropinquaret frater ejus. (Ⅳ) - 3 ׃33 והוא עבר לפניהם וישתחו ארצה שבע פעמים עד גשתו עד אחיו (Ⅴ)

And Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him: and they wept.
- Ésaü courut à sa rencontre; il l'embrassa, se jeta à son cou, et le baisa. Et ils pleurèrent. (Ⅱ) - καὶ προσέδραμεν Ησαυ εἰς συνάντησιν αὐτω̨̃ καὶ περιλαβὼν αὐτὸν ἐφίλησεν καὶ προσέπεσεν ἐπὶ τὸν τράχηλον αὐτου̃ καὶ ἔκλαυσαν ἀμφότεροι (Ⅲ) - Currens itaque Esau obviam fratri suo, amplexatus est eum : stringensque collum ejus, et osculans flevit. (Ⅳ) - 4 ׃33 וירץ עשו לקראתו ויחבקהו ויפל על צוארו[q] וישקהו[4] ויבכו (Ⅴ)

And he lifted up his eyes, and saw the women and the children; and said, Who are those with thee? And he said, The children which God hath graciously given thy servant.
- Ésaü, levant les yeux, vit les femmes et les enfants, et il dit: Qui sont ceux que tu as là? Et Jacob répondit: Ce sont les enfants que Dieu a accordés à ton serviteur. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἀναβλέψας εἰ̃δεν τὰς γυναι̃κας καὶ τὰ παιδία καὶ εἰ̃πεν τί ταυ̃τά σοί ἐστιν ὁ δὲ εἰ̃πεν τὰ παιδία οἱ̃ς ἠλέησεν ὁ θεὸς τὸν παι̃δά σου (Ⅲ) - Levatisque oculis, vidit mulieres et parvulos earum, et ait : Quid sibi volunt isti ? et si ad te pertinent ? Respondit : Parvuli sunt quos donavit mihi Deus servo tuo. (Ⅳ) - 5 ׃33 וישא את עיניו וירא את הנשים ואת הילדים ויאמר מי אלה לך ויאמר הילדים אשר חנן אלהים את עבדך (Ⅴ)

Then the handmaidens came near, they and their children, and they bowed themselves.
- Les servantes s'approchèrent, elles et leurs enfants, et se prosternèrent; (Ⅱ) - καὶ προσήγγισαν αἱ παιδίσκαι καὶ τὰ τέκνα αὐτω̃ν καὶ προσεκύνησαν (Ⅲ) - Et appropinquantes ancillæ et filii earum, incurvati sunt. (Ⅳ) - 6 ׃33 ותגשן השפחות הנה וילדיהן ותשתחוין (Ⅴ)

And Leah also with her children came near, and bowed themselves: and after came Joseph near and Rachel, and they bowed themselves.
- Léa et ses enfants s'approchèrent aussi, et se prosternèrent; ensuite Joseph et Rachel s'approchèrent, et se prosternèrent. (Ⅱ) - καὶ προσήγγισεν Λεια καὶ τὰ τέκνα αὐτη̃ς καὶ προσεκύνησαν καὶ μετὰ ταυ̃τα προσήγγισεν Ραχηλ καὶ Ιωσηφ καὶ προσεκύνησαν (Ⅲ) - Accessit quoque Lia cum pueris suis : et cum similiter adorassent, extremi Joseph et Rachel adoraverunt. (Ⅳ) - 7 ׃33 ותגש גם לאה וילדיה וישתחוו ואחר נגש יוסף ורחל וישתחוו (Ⅴ)

And he said, What meanest thou by all this drove which I met? And he said, These are to find grace in the sight of my lord.
- Ésaü dit: A quoi destines-tu tout ce camp que j'ai rencontré? Et Jacob répondit: A trouver grâce aux yeux de mon seigneur. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν τί ταυ̃τά σοί ἐστιν πα̃σαι αἱ παρεμβολαὶ αὑ̃ται αἱ̃ς ἀπήντηκα ὁ δὲ εἰ̃πεν ἵνα εὕρη̨ ὁ παι̃ς σου χάριν ἐναντίον σου κύριε (Ⅲ) - Dixitque Esau : Quænam sunt istæ turmæ quas obviam habui ? Respondit : Ut invenirem gratiam coram domino meo. (Ⅳ) - 8 ׃33 ויאמר מי לך כל המחנה הזה אשר פגשתי ויאמר למצא חן בעיני אדני (Ⅴ)

And Esau said, I have enough, my brother; keep that thou hast unto thyself.
- Ésaü dit: Je suis dans l'abondance, mon frère; garde ce qui est à toi. (Ⅱ) - εἰ̃πεν δὲ Ησαυ ἔστιν μοι πολλά ἄδελφε ἔστω σοι τὰ σά (Ⅲ) - At ille ait : Habeo plurima, frater mi, sint tua tibi. (Ⅳ) - 9 ׃33 ויאמר עשו יש לי רב אחי יהי לך אשר לך (Ⅴ)

And Jacob said, Nay, I pray thee, if now I have found grace in thy sight, then receive my present at my hand: for therefore I have seen thy face, as though I had seen the face of God, and thou wast pleased with me.
- Et Jacob répondit: Non, je te prie, si j'ai trouvé grâce à tes yeux, accepte de ma main mon présent; car c'est pour cela que j'ai regardé ta face comme on regarde la face de Dieu, et tu m'as accueilli favorablement. (Ⅱ) - εἰ̃πεν δὲ Ιακωβ εἰ εὕρηκα χάριν ἐναντίον σου δέξαι τὰ δω̃ρα διὰ τω̃ν ἐμω̃ν χειρω̃ν ἕνεκεν τούτου εἰ̃δον τὸ πρόσωπόν σου ὡς ἄν τις ἴδοι πρόσωπον θεου̃ καὶ εὐδοκήσεις με (Ⅲ) - Dixitque Jacob : Noli ita, obsecro : sed si inveni gratiam in oculis tuis, accipe munusculum de manibus meis. Sic enim vidi faciem tuam, quasi viderim vultum Dei : esto mihi propitius, (Ⅳ) - 10 ׃33 ויאמר יעקב אל נא אם נא מצאתי חן בעיניך ולקחת מנחתי מידי כי על כן ראיתי פניך כראת פני אלהים ותרצני (Ⅴ)

Take, I pray thee, my blessing that is brought to thee; because God hath dealt graciously with me, and because I have enough. And he urged him, and he took it.
- Accepte donc mon présent qui t'a été offert, puisque Dieu m'a comblé de grâces, et que je ne manque de rien. Il insista auprès de lui, et Ésaü accepta. (Ⅱ) - λαβὲ τὰς εὐλογίας μου ἃς ἤνεγκά σοι ὅτι ἠλέησέν με ὁ θεὸς καὶ ἔστιν μοι πάντα καὶ ἐβιάσατο αὐτόν καὶ ἔλαβεν (Ⅲ) - et suscipe benedictionem quam attuli tibi, et quam donavit mihi Deus tribuens omnia. Vix fratre compellente, suscipiens, (Ⅳ) - 11 ׃33 קח נא את ברכתי אשר הבאת לך כי חנני אלהים וכי יש לי כל ויפצר בו ויקח (Ⅴ)

And he said, Let us take our journey, and let us go, and I will go before thee.
- Ésaü dit: Partons, mettons-nous en route; j'irai devant toi. (Ⅱ) - καὶ εἰ̃πεν ἀπάραντες πορευσόμεθα ἐπ' εὐθει̃αν (Ⅲ) - ait : Gradiamur simul, eroque socius itineris tui. (Ⅳ) - 12 ׃33 ויאמר נסעה ונלכה ואלכה לנגדך (Ⅴ)

And he said unto him, My lord knoweth that the children are tender, and the flocks and herds with young are with me: and if men should overdrive them one day, all the flock will die.
- Jacob lui répondit: Mon seigneur sait que les enfants sont délicats, et que j'ai des brebis et des vaches qui allaitent; si l'on forçait leur marche un seul jour, tout le troupeau périrait. (Ⅱ) - εἰ̃πεν δὲ αὐτω̨̃ ὁ κύριός μου γινώσκει ὅτι τὰ παιδία ἁπαλώτερα καὶ τὰ πρόβατα καὶ αἱ βόες λοχεύονται ἐπ' ἐμέ ἐὰν οὐ̃ν καταδιώξω αὐτοὺς ἡμέραν μίαν ἀποθανου̃νται πάντα τὰ κτήνη (Ⅲ) - Dixitque Jacob : Nosti, domine mi, quod parvulos habeam teneros, et oves, et boves fœtas mecum : quas si plus in ambulando fecero laborare, morientur una die cuncti greges. (Ⅳ) - 13 ׃33 ויאמר אליו אדני ידע כי הילדים רכים והצאן והבקר עלות עלי ודפקום יום אחד ומתו כל הצאן (Ⅴ)

Let my lord, I pray thee, pass over before his servant: and I will lead on softly, according as the cattle that goeth before me and the children be able to endure, until I come unto my lord unto Seir.
- Que mon seigneur prenne les devants sur son serviteur; et moi, je suivrai lentement, au pas du troupeau qui me précédera, et au pas des enfants, jusqu'à ce que j'arrive chez mon seigneur, à Séir. (Ⅱ) - προελθέτω ὁ κύριός μου ἔμπροσθεν του̃ παιδός ἐγὼ δὲ ἐνισχύσω ἐν τη̨̃ ὁδω̨̃ κατὰ σχολὴν τη̃ς πορεύσεως τη̃ς ἐναντίον μου καὶ κατὰ πόδα τω̃ν παιδαρίων ἕως του̃ με ἐλθει̃ν πρὸς τὸν κύριόν μου εἰς Σηιρ (Ⅲ) - Præcedat dominus meus ante servum suum : et ego sequar paulatim vestigia ejus, sicut videro parvulos meos posse, donec veniam ad dominum meum in Seir. (Ⅳ) - 14 ׃33 יעבר נא אדני לפני עבדו ואני אתנהלה[c] לאטי לרגל המלאכה אשר לפני ולרגל הילדים עד אשר אבא אל אדני שעירה (Ⅴ)

And Esau said, Let me now leave with thee some of the folk that are with me. And he said, What needeth it? let me find grace in the sight of my lord.
- Ésaü dit: Je veux au moins laisser avec toi une partie de mes gens. Et Jacob répondit: Pourquoi cela? Que je trouve seulement grâce aux yeux de mon seigneur! (Ⅱ) - εἰ̃πεν δὲ Ησαυ καταλείψω μετὰ σου̃ ἀπὸ του̃ λαου̃ του̃ μετ' ἐμου̃ ὁ δὲ εἰ̃πεν ἵνα τί του̃το ἱκανὸν ὅτι εὑ̃ρον χάριν ἐναντίον σου κύριε (Ⅲ) - Respondit Esau : Oro te, ut de populo qui mecum est, saltem socii remaneant viæ tuæ. Non est, inquit, necesse : hoc uno tantum indigeo, ut inveniam gratiam in conspectu tuo, domine mi. (Ⅳ) - 15 ׃33 ויאמר עשו אציגה נא עמך מן העם אשר אתי ויאמר למה זה אמצא חן בעיני אדני (Ⅴ)

So Esau returned that day on his way unto Seir.
- Le même jour, Ésaü reprit le chemin de Séir. (Ⅱ) - ἀπέστρεψεν δὲ Ησαυ ἐν τη̨̃ ἡμέρα̨ ἐκείνη̨ εἰς τὴν ὁδὸν αὐτου̃ εἰς Σηιρ (Ⅲ) - Reversus est itaque illo die Esau itinere quo venerat in Seir. (Ⅳ) - 16 ׃33 וישב ביום ההוא עשו לדרכו שעירה (Ⅴ)

And Jacob journeyed to Succoth, and built him an house, and made booths for his cattle: therefore the name of the place is called Succoth.
- Jacob partit pour Succoth. Il bâtit une maison pour lui, et il fit des cabanes pour ses troupeaux. C'est pourquoi l'on a appelé ce lieu de nom de Succoth. (Ⅱ) - καὶ Ιακωβ ἀπαίρει εἰς Σκηνάς καὶ ἐποίησεν ἑαυτω̨̃ ἐκει̃ οἰκίας καὶ τοι̃ς κτήνεσιν αὐτου̃ ἐποίησεν σκηνάς διὰ του̃το ἐκάλεσεν τὸ ὄνομα του̃ τόπου ἐκείνου Σκηναί (Ⅲ) - Et Jacob venit in Socoth : ubi ædificata domo et fixis tentoriis appellavit nomen loci illius Socoth, id est, Tabernacula. (Ⅳ) - 17 ׃33 ויעקב נסע סכתה ויבן לו בית ולמקנהו עשה סכת על כן קרא שם המקום סכות ס (Ⅴ)

And Jacob came to Shalem, a city of Shechem, which is in the land of Canaan, when he came from Padanaram; and pitched his tent before the city.
- A son retour de Paddan Aram, Jacob arriva heureusement à la ville de Sichem, dans le pays de Canaan, et il campa devant la ville. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἠ̃λθεν Ιακωβ εἰς Σαλημ πόλιν Σικιμων ἥ ἐστιν ἐν γη̨̃ Χανααν ὅτε ἠ̃λθεν ἐκ τη̃ς Μεσοποταμίας Συρίας καὶ παρενέβαλεν κατὰ πρόσωπον τη̃ς πόλεως (Ⅲ) - Transivitque in Salem urbem Sichimorum, quæ est in terra Chanaan, postquam reversus est de Mesopotamia Syriæ : et habitavit juxta oppidum. (Ⅳ) - 18 ׃33 ויבא יעקב שלם עיר שכם אשר בארץ כנען בבאו מפדן ארם ויחן את פני העיר (Ⅴ)

And he bought a parcel of a field, where he had spread his tent, at the hand of the children of Hamor, Shechem's father, for an hundred pieces of money.
- Il acheta la portion du champ où il avait dressé sa tente, des fils d'Hamor, père de Sichem, pour cent kesita. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἐκτήσατο τὴν μερίδα του̃ ἀγρου̃ οὑ̃ ἔστησεν ἐκει̃ τὴν σκηνὴν αὐτου̃ παρὰ Εμμωρ πατρὸς Συχεμ ἑκατὸν ἀμνω̃ν (Ⅲ) - Emitque partem agri, in qua fixerat tabernacula, a filiis Hemor patris Sichem centum agnis. (Ⅳ) - 19 ׃33 ויקן את חלקת השדה אשר נטה שם אהלו מיד בני חמור אבי שכם במאה קשיטה (Ⅴ)

And he erected there an altar, and called it EleloheIsrael.
- Et là, il éleva un autel, qu'il appela El Élohé Israël. (Ⅱ) - καὶ ἔστησεν ἐκει̃ θυσιαστήριον καὶ ἐπεκαλέσατο τὸν θεὸν Ισραηλ (Ⅲ) - Et erecto ibi altari, invocavit super illud fortissimum Deum Israël. (Ⅳ) - 20 ׃33 ויצב שם מזבח ויקרא לו אל אלהי ישראל ס (Ⅴ)
